Today was my last day as a 411 operator with SBC. Starting a new job next week. Yay, me.
Anyways, SBC is fucking cheap. They make mad profit every year, but they can't afford a single water cooler for our little 90 person office on the shoreline in Connecticut. They want you plugged in and taking calls on time, but the clocks go unfixed. It feels like a fucking casino. A simple bit of routine maintenance. I'm surprised the mens bathroom light got fixed today.
Good employees that make a company as profitable as it is, should not be treated like disposable trash.
"We may congratulate ourselves that this cruel war is nearing its end. It has cost a vast amount of treasure and blood. . .. It has indeed been a trying hour for the Republic; but I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war. God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless."

Don't play down my main editor. Joe got muh back, and now he be better than evah. Unf.
Seriously, I love this editor. I use it as my main non-coding editor for doing various edits to configs and such. I just know the keystrokes without thinking about it. All the other editors just feel overly complicated to me whenever I try and pick them up. Joe doesn't give me any surprises, and I like that.
Perhaps if I had my brain wiped and I was to start over again, I'd learn one of the others. But that won't happen. So here we are.
What's scary is that I believed that a good chunk of this is something that Lucas would actually say. Then again, if someone REALLY had leaked clips, they'd be taken down from the site (and moved into p2p space) before you could say "lawyer".:P
Prior to the internet's mainstream popularity, you mean.;)
But yeah, that was the first thing I thought of. Visions of free user-supported wireless internet from one side of the globe to the other danced in my head. Email taking over a day to get anywhere...Quake matches taking a lifetime...almost like the ping from here to Mars.
If they were willing to, and succeding in making people download RealPrayer, surely WinAmp or any other tool of that nature would be easy to get folks to use. Seems like a moot point.
Mmmm...overused cliches. Never gets old. I for one reject our new cliche masters. *cough*
Anwyays, I will rise to the occasion and reply anyways: I've simply never had to post with a "large amount of caps" before. I honestly don't see what good it does to filter posts based on this. There are legit purposes for a mostly-caps post, such as some code, and for comedic effect, as mine was, that are chewed on. I would think that moderation would take care of any trollish all-caps posts...
But anyways, I'm sure I'll get marked off-topic. Again. I'm crying on the inside. Really. Like a naked mime with AIDS.
---- As an aside, this post had to be reedited multiple times because of this lovely new 'feature' that someone thought would be a good idea here on the ol' site:
"Lameness filter encountered. Post aborted! Reason: Don't use so many caps. It's like YELLING."
It was the very first thing to pop into my head. I've been listening to VCPR and KCHAT in the car in mp3 format this past week, so it's very fresh in my mind.;D
Way back when I got my first 1ghz processor, I was coming from a 266mhz machine that didn't have or need any kind of cooling. Naturally, since I was on my own, I just plopped that baby onto the mobo to make sure it worked before putting on the big tower cooler thing it was suggested I buy.
It POSTed. Once.
Then on the subsequent boot, the screen was blank. Then it began to smell...bad. Then there was the smoke. And then my tears began to flow.
I simply had no idea that you never use modern CPU's AT ALL without some kind of suitable cooling. Not even for a quick check to see if it's installed right.
Took me a few months, but evetually a friend helped me get a Duron 850 processor, and you better believe I installed that one correctly.;)
Tough way to learn a lesson, but from then on I took everything far more seriously and read everything I can before I make a purchase. Sounds like common sense, but hey, I was cocky back then.:P
Won't work, though. When dealing with anything like this, you have to always consider the skr1pt k1dd1e factor. "Hay!! if I just stick this l1nux thing on my machine, and put this awesome logo on my 31337 warez/h/p/a site, EVERYONE will know I'm the real deal h4ckerman!@#!"
You get the idea. Everyone will put it on their site once it gets around that it's "the badge" for 1337'ness. It's just a futile thing.
Badges? BADGES? We don't need no... uh, none of them...there...things.;)
(Besides, if I had to theoretically pick a 'symbol', I'm afraid Steven Levy already kinda left me with the thinking that a wizard-themed logo would be the way to go...)
Hey, thanks. :)

This disturbs me for one very obvious reason.

Goooooooooooo jooooooooooooe!
It's seriously unfair that I used up my mod points earlier. Well, you get my spiritual '+1 Insightful'. ;)
Indeed.

I dunno, I just assumed he was trying to be funny with a really dry kind of wit.

Box art...to fucking Star Wars. Last I read there was an obsessive geek/nerd attraction to that series. I MAY BE WRONG, HOWEVER.
Here's my own insightful commentary: shut the fuck up.
Now that's funny shit. ;)

I'm a sad sad man, that was the guy I first thought of. :D
That I can't argue.

Who's lame, now? *stabs site*
I think they mean, repurchasing all your favorites in the new higher res format...
Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope: The Super-Hyper Fighting Edition: Directors Cut: XTREME Really Wide Screen High Definition Rerelease ULTRA-EX2

Thanks for the draft links. Interesting shit that I'll be sure to pass along.

Cripes, first I thought this meant the Atari Jaguar. I had the most puzzled expression...
