I have a hard time believing the New York Times as being a credible source for anything. They are in the same league as CBS and the LA Times. Is this post even Slashdot worthy? I don't think so.
Well you can see pictures of all three Opteron cores up from the demo. single core 130nm, dual core 90nm, and single core 90nm. I have some info including the two demo boxes. One with Linux and one with Windows. I'll have more extensive coverage up later with system pics and additional information.
Funny, but no one had ever heckled or made fun of crappy movies before, had they? These guys started because Sci Fi canceled MST3K. MST3K didn't do it live, they didn't do modern movies, they didn't do it with a live interactive audience, at Quakecon. In reality these guys continuing this are driving DVD sales for MST3K. Otherwise sometimes being in a 8AM Saturday morning time slot isn't doing much for you. Being in front of 4,000 Quakecon attendees gets a whole new group of fans for MST3K. All this makes me want to do is see Mr. Sinus Dirty Dancing for the 3rd time, and follow that up 30 minutes later with Evil Dead 2. Can't beat that combo. Then the next weekend I'll check out Tron with the Tron guy. Whoops Best Brains, you stepped in some Trumpy dumpy. MS had it right, and because of it I get to check out Red vs Blue at Drafthouse this month as well. Sucks if you don't live in Austin. Best Brains is far from being a big corporation.
and they are doing it again next month before the showing of of the season 2 DVD of Redvsblue. I've often thought of doing something similar. I'd have our Texas Gaming Festival at Drafthouse, but the tables are not big enough for a computer. Console works though, and it is more fun seeing Mr. Sinus at Drafthouse where they belong instead of at a makeshift venue during Quakecon.
Nice that while I'm eating this happens. Anyway, made some changes to apache. I can get it on and off. Postnuke can't quite handle the load, and we are just getting ready to deploy a 2P and a 4P opteron box. Oh well, I wish we had already done it. For the record the bandwidth is not an issue, it appears postnuke has become the bottleneck on this one. Apache and MySQL are doing their jobs. We will continue to work on it. In the meantime I'm going to go root for Daler. He won our Doom 3 tourney last weekend here in Dallas. Also, I'm having a lot of trouble bringing up Slashdot here at Quakecon. Anyone else having that problem?
I thought the Democrats lead by Al Gore creating computer networking. Maybe those morons should use some of that Moveon money to do something useful, like hiring an IT staff? Typical goverment people not knowing one thing about technology.
I seem to remember a bunch of non believers trying to insult me when I said the 3rd of August was the date. I said come on, I run the Texas Gaming Festival, I go to E3 every year for AMDZone, and my brother writes for Voodoo. Perhaps you should listen to what I had said. You guys didn't. I'm awaiting your apologies. Anyway, this opens us up to have our Doom III tourney as we had planned at TXGF Summer 2004 Dallas the weekend before Quakecon. Sweet.
Sorry, it isn't. did you go to E3? I did. I do every year, and I just happen to run the Texas Gaming Festival. And oh, my brother just happens to write for Voodooextreme. So yeah, I probably don't know what I'm talking about. I mean come on, living in Austin, there are no game developers here on anything. You are on fire!
Yeah, don't move here, but do come to the Texas Gaming Festival here July 23rd-25th for a CPL and Quakecon warmpup. Then you can go to Dallas for TXGF where they will have Doom 3 deathmatch August 7th-8th just before Quakecon.
Yeah, well Europe has countries, we have states, and guess what people in Texas don't think like those in California, nor those in Florida or New York. It is France's close involvement with Iraq in under the table deals, poor economy, and weak leadership that has them upset, and in trouble. Yeah, in case you haven't heard the US economy is on the rise. I've been hiring. For those of you have have never taken an economics course, and don't understand flame away.
what is even more amusing is that AMD began this work well before longhorn was announced. Even more amusing is that AMD announced before Intel. You know, it isn't funny when it isn't even factually correct enough to be so.
No you won't. Infoworld got it right. Anand should have researched before he put up his story.
AMD's dual-core server processors will share a single memory controller, Weber said. This won't create a bottleneck because a server with two Opteron chips, and therefore two memory controllers, already has more than enough memory bandwidth required to run that system, he said.
"It's always a juggling act to add a little more processing and a little more memory. Right now, we have plenty of memory and I/O bandwidth, so we're adding processing," Weber said.
The dual-core chips will work with current socket technology in motherboards that are rated for the specifications of the dual-core chips, Weber said. A BIOS change will be required, but otherwise the chips will work in the same sockets as single-core Opterons, he said.

when I can use my sprint cell phone with a data cable and pay only $15 a month for 2.5G vision internet service?
Nice, I like how the story is a week old, the facts are stolen, and even the graph has been ripped from another site.
Yeah, I know they have done live shows, by Mr. Sinus is only live.

Look for a report this afternoon on AMDZone.com.

anonymous, and a coward. imagine that. yeah, man back at dell in IT I didn't know shit.

Keep those ipod stories coming. I mean is there anything else more important? Good thing /. wasn't around when the walman came out.
This first Doom 3 tourney will be held in Dallas August 7th-8th. See you there.

Boy, was I wrong eh? Fools. Doom 3 gold
yeah, big props to you anonymous coward.
Yeah, the gaming scene in Minnesota is gigantic. I'm sure Red McCombs is the leader. I'll stick to the secrets inside UT coeds dorm rooms.

If you are paying attention then you would have noticed that August 3rd is the confirmed release date.

Are you not aware of how well AMD's K8 core line of CPUs scales. There are hundreds of articles on the web mentioning it.
funny, except that AMD's dual core is pin compatible with current motherboards. When you research your jokes punchline it becomes funnier.
