lol so he could finish developing weapons of mass destruction
Finish! he never started. If he had, it would be all over the world. but no, nothing was found, all evidance was proven to be false or fake. And there was absolutely zero ties between sadam and OBL. Well other than America(being the one who funded both)
We have had sadam for how long? and been using US torcher programs to get things from him, and still nothing found? The only things he ever had was things our government gave to them, that he used agaist people considered terrorists in his own country.
America is fighting for oil, ask anyone in the armed forces that has spent a lot of time there. We are alied with people make Sadam look like a saint.
Unless one believes that all taxation is unconstitutional, or other such ideological rot. ..
Federal income tax IS unconstitutional. State income tax is not. Power was given to the state for direct taxation, in times of war, etc.
This was in the constitution and no ad amendment. There was/is a very good reason for this. Direct taxation makes the federal government to powerful. A single body that regulates the states should not be more powerful than the combination of those states. Also now the federal can bribe states into doing other things they don't have the right to. This happens all the time.(just look at the mess it did with public schools)
That sounds like an excuse the south came up. The issue at hand was slavery. South thought it wasn't any other states business in dictating what they could and could not do, while the north(and fed) thought differently.
While it was good that slavery was abolished. It was bad that the federal government got so much power. And it just steam rolled from there. Examples:
According to the constitution (not amendments) only the states was allowed direct taxation, The federal government wasn't allowed. (Fed Income tax is unconstitutional while state one is.)
And actually, because of the above thing, the federal can bribe states into doing other things the federal government doesn't have the right to.
Oh, wait, I'm OT now. And to have a point directed at someone else, UK had slaver for a long time in the formation of India and other "colonies". Also USA was almost different countries at that time, so it wasn't really a pure internal conflict.
Apparently only the U.S. is allowed to decide who can use and deploy basic technology.
You seam to think people in the USA want to dictate to the rest of the world how to do things. No, actually what happens is the people who want to dictate to the rest of the world, find it easiest to do so through USA.
Such as the skull and bones, they are a power out of Europe. And other cartel organizations like the riaa/mpaa have existed long before USA, and each country has their own version of the same thing today. So quit blaming USA for everything. We just have a flaw that is being exploited, that is fixable only by the fact we have the right own guns.
While Suse gets a lot of kodo's from me, you do have a point. One or two simple examples: K3b and gaim.
They do not offer updates for those(and many others). The sites that do are things like usr-local-bin or pacman. And for their rpms to work, you have to have the latest and greatest of everything all the time. If suse 9.2 came out, you have to have it, if an update to some random lib came out, you have to grab that too.
Then to top it off, it breaks "yast consistency" all the time. And then you end up with a foobard system that you spend even more time being frustrated.
And if you ever ask for help from SuSE's mailing list the nazis come out saying to write the program yourself, or use another distro, or quit trying to run the latest and greatest. There is nothing about wanting to be the leatest and greatest, just with gaim, you have to install it often to even remain compatible on various protocols. (and kopete or what ever is called was horribly ugly last I checked)
But then, why else would someone pay money on a distro, if it was more work than a free one. Many of the people on their mailings list don't seam to understand.
Go figure. They just need to standardize on a way to make one RPM work on all systems, using the lowest common libs posible, but maybe include support for the latest and greatest if the newer libs are available during install.
There are newer/better articals, but I'm to lazy to keep looking, heck even/. has covered them multiple times in the last 5 years.1, 2,.
Also about the size thing, while I was wrong in the portion, the moon does effect us a lot. This link will help put things in perspective. Best I could find.(I am working after all, and don't have much time to put into my postings or reading of websites) Big Planets, Little Planets, Big Moons, Little Moons!
We actualy have from 3-5 moons. The Moon that you know of is the fifth largest in the whole solar system. Kinda big, infact it is more of a planet with a shared orbit than it is a moon. It is to big, and affects earth to much (1/3 the size of earth) to be considered a satalite. However, since people have the "earth is flat" syndrome, people will always know earth has one moon, etc.
I am glad you are able to read/post on/. with your 4 year. I'm playing doom3 on my 4+ year old computer. And the only hardware upgrades are the videocard.
AMD 1.2 1 gig ram, geforce fx.
As for the sound, I think my scsi 10k rpm raid puts a stop to even thinking of quiet pc.
Now this is disgusting. Americans also give away the most for countries/people that are unable to provide for themselves. Heck we even provide N Korean with toons and toons of supplies.
America provides quite well for itself, so it isn't a drain on any other country. (alothough we do make use of canada's plentiful water and damns.
The world isn't over populating. The population is growing to fast for some areas (the area we send toons of food and supplies to for example).
Anyways, I forgot what I was going to say, so I'm going to lunch.
"Also, everyone is familiar with the web, the way it works and how to get things done. They don't have to figure out whatever GUI you develop for the tool."
I personaly find some web pages, and web applications nearly imposible to navigate through, lat alone for the Avg joe who double clicks everything on the web.
But I aggree about everything else about having a centralized place for the "application".
Am I the only one who wants to see java take the place of many things here? One app, hosted on centralized web server, and full features that websites can not mimic.
MS tech support is contracted out to convergis, who are just as out of the loop w/ MS and the like as the average consumer. Sometimes they are told an update will hit the auto update, only because they expect a higher than avg call volume that day. But the techs are not told anything.
"I'm sure there are examples of where the TCO of Windows on the same hardware is cheaper than something Unix-based, but for most serious work, Unix still rules."
Not to be a troll, but desktop is cheaper TCO. Mostly because getting mass market computers cost the same w/ or w/o. Also lots of aps. Can't say linux, not when you have to upgrade 10 diffeent lib packages when you only want to upgraid gaim.
My point was to the person I was replying to. That those companies was not started with big money, and that they didn't chose to go to USA. And that other contries have dirt as well.
American Law came from england. Cept 1 major change wich has completely disapeared from our books. All people have rights that shall not be infrindge.
I pretty much fail to see the point of your post, kind of pulled mine way OT with it.
lol, some people just are clueless, and plame everything thye can
Ford was a mechanic. bill gates college drop out. (granted his daddy owns a law firm) Netscape, college students and a teacher.
Not to mention, each of them live in the USA. But the really deap pockets are from from Europe. Lots of old powerfull companies. Lets talk about the natzi companies who used/abused slave jews. I think that financial mess is still being work on.(law suits from the jews who worked there etc) We can also talk about the mafia's. They have a lot more power, and are a lot more bold back in the old countries(even more so in polland, russia, etc).
Have people never heard the phrase "keep right except to pass"?
That only exists in some states. Other states it is slower traffic keep right.
But people are lazy and aholes. What I would like to see is a road that closes the right lane but opens up a new left lan every 10-20 miles or so.
As for tickets, stop w/ the speeding ones, and give them for slow people in the left lane w/ people passing. And tickets for people passing on the right when they could have passed on the left. And tickets for those idiots that drive over the whole road like it was 1 lane.
"What would happen if election results ended up being 100% write-in for Mr. Evil, instead of the other canidates?"
What other canidates are there other than Mr. Evil?
Seriously, if I was to rig it, I would make a win by no more than 10%. And why would a political party bother currting the ballot systerm like this when they already steal anywhere from 5-20% total votes by the use of absentee ballots?
One problem with Reiserfs, it has no way of dealing with bad blocks.
Oh yea, there is a hack out that almost sorta works, except you have to spend a lot of manual time on it, and each time your system does a fsck, you have to do it all over again.
Ever since I had a drive get some bad sectors, I have been afraid to use reiserfs.

No smoke, good? No tar, good. But it still has plenty of nicotine
And they plan on allowing this in enclosed air planes? I'd rather be on a flight with someone that sneaked in some fingernail clipers than this.

When was the last time you saw an OS/2 virus?
When was the last time anyone saw OS/2 for that matter?
To bad IBM let OS/2 die. It was a nice system back in the 486/early p1 days.

SuSE Personal should be compaird to XP home.
Either way, SuSE saves you money, and gives ya more.
