  11. Okay really, why OpenSolaris over Linux? on Solaris 10 Installation and Desktop Walkthrough · · Score: 1

I downloaded the OpenSolaris images and was thinking about playing with it, but after looking at the screen captures it really hit home... why should I do it? To get StarOffice? If I want an OS that runs GNOME and says it is compatible with Linux but I need to carefully examine a hardware compatibility list, why wouldn't I just install just about any Linux distribution? I've read all the posts about supposed benefits of OpenSolaris but I still don't get it. Why switch?

  12. Gnome people have turned into Micro$oft on GNOME Ignoring its Own Users? · · Score: 1

I asked Microsoft to add a feature to automatically stream pr0n to my login screen but they refused. They don't listen to users either, just like the Gnome guys.

  14. Re:Future viability in question? on Gnome 2.10 Released · · Score: 1, Insightful

Hmm... most people I talk to who use Linux have expressed a strong preference for GNOME over KDE. I don't know if this is because they get GNOME with X-Windows on there system or if they switched in disgust, but they usually say that they think it's crisper and the look is more consistent across applications.

I suppose it's another example of form over function, but there you go. Hopefully Enlightenment comes out soon.

MY best sig is this one.

  20. The Real Reason this was Reported on Napster Has Been Cracked · · Score: 2, Interesting

Everyone with any computer audio recording experience knows that the reported Napster crack is as old as sound card input/output. But the source of the story was Engadget.com, which is basically a heavily pro-Apple electronics product news/review site.

The timing of this not-new-news release, right when Napster's new monthly flat-fee subscription service debuts, was no accident. It was meant to hit Napster on Wall Street, and as of this writing in early trading it's already paltry stock price is down over 2% on the news.

  25. Re:I wish they'd move into house search on Google Formula For Adding New Products · · Score: 1

Well, they'd probably call it Google Household. Then you'll be able to find out where your posse is hangin' by using Google Neighborhood. RFID sensors in store fronts log where the boyz last walked into or out of a place and let you know. Of maybe they just get tracked by cell phone GPS broadcasts.

Mod this funny but I really think searching on Google for your friends based on call phone location wouldn't be too difficult to implement in the near future.
