  1. No source code, sorry on Help Black Box Voting Examine ES&S Software · · Score: 1

How does one reliably examine software without the source code? Why would anyone bother spending time on this? What, we're supposed to look at an executable and say "yeah, looks like things can't be faked, hacked, or misinterpreted"?

  2. Testing time? on Voting Machine Glitches Already Being Reported · · Score: 2, Insightful

  10. Old Video Games on Verified: Record-breaking Pitfall! Run · · Score: 3, Insightful

This game does give us a rare glimpse into the payoff given to game players in the old days of video games, which was absolutely nothing. You try for hours, perhaps days or weeks, finally reach the end, and it just freezes the screen and changes the colors on it until you are forced to turn the unit off. No final Fantasy end movie here.

  15. Re:Left eye, right eye on VR Treatment for Lazy Eye · · Score: 1

By the way, for those who are wondering how you test right-eye, left-eye, do this:

    - Go outside
    - Find a light pole or other large ovject at least fifteen or twenty feet away.
    - With both eyes open, extend your arm so your thumb is on the object... hold it there
    - Now shut right eye and keep left open, then shut left eye and keep right eye open.
    - The single eye still showing your thumb over the object is your dominant eye. The non-dominant eye will show your thumb next to the object.

This is why cross-dominance is hard on dart throwers and gun shooters... even though the target looks like it is set dead on, your accuracy won't follow through.

  16. Left eye, right eye on VR Treatment for Lazy Eye · · Score: 3, Interesting

I wish there was a quick way to change your eye-edness. I am right handed but left-eyed, and tasks that require aiming (like darts, shooting, etc) are handicapped.

  19. We already have an example in Flight 77 on Study Says Cell Phones Can Interfere With Planes · · Score: 1

where people allegedly called friends and family all over the plane while it made its fatal journey to the Pentagon. I'm sure the brands of mobile phones and their technologies (CDMA/GSM/AMPS) spread the gamut. In that case none of the cell phone stopped the pilot from guiding the plane where he wanted it to go. Some accounts said some passengers used the onboard flight phones but others clearly said personal cell phones were used.

I think the recent stories of pilots getting drunk before boarding their chariots should receive more focus than cell phones that don't do anything to the plane.
