That's basically how the whining sounds. Waaaah, the stock didn't skyrocket like Googles! Waaaaah!. All those rich greedy bastards aren't even richer greedy bastards. So they sue.

So I say what's good for the goose... and turn it around. The 99% should SUE the 1% for 156 Trillion dollars, or approximately the value of all derivatives and credit default swaps.

Seriously, let's take 'em to court because we've not gotten our American Dream.

Really? Doesn't a VP at SAP make enough money to afford his lifestyle? Is he so greedy that he's gotta do this kind of crap? And where does he find the TIME to post 2000 items to eBay?

Clearly, things at SAP must be doing badly because #1) he's not making enough and #2) He's got plenty of time to sit at work posting shit to eBay.

I don't have time to clean out the junk in my house and post crap to eBay. I barely have time to write this post.

That's if you believe the media, who can only count people from the "Forbes" listings. The problem with understanding a person's total valuation is that there's a number of people who's value can't be counted, either because they refuse to reveal how much money they have, or that the valuation simply can't be tabulated for some other reason (i.e. too many swiss bank accounts).

For example, there's a bunch of Saudi princes, and the money magazines have NO IDEA what these guys are worth, but it's clearly multiple billions and money is no object to these characters, who buy jet aircraft and diamond-studded cell-phones on a monthly basis.

So, point is: Zuckerberg may be 29th of the known list of billionaires, but he's still not the 29th richest in the world, although clearly, he's now part of the 1% of the 1%.

But, on the bright side, he still dresses like he's in college.

Because they are as dumb as a bag of hammers.

Seriously. Can you even think of ONE decent car ad from GM in the last decade?

I sure can't, and the really, really, gut wrenching part of it all is that CHRYSLER has hit the ball out of the park with TWO stunning Superbowl ads over the last two years. And neither one were about their cars, but about their brand.

GM is unfocused because their "brand" is actually a number of brands, probably each one with their own ad agency, and each one with a different VP in charge of hiring ad agencies, so you can enevr get it under "one roof" so to speak.

GM is top-heavy with useless middle management, and each "brand" being -internally- in competition with each other. It's a problem, but the problem can be solved EASILY if the CEO had some balls and vision to make some sweeping changes to the way that GM does business.

But he won't because the CEO of GM is an empty suit collecting a massive payday, and he knows that even if he does nothing and GM fails miserably, the government will step in the bail out his incompetence, and he still gets a massive payday.

In short, GM is run by incompetent suits who are there to collect large checks and do as little as possible.

Corporate waste is immeasurable. $40 million blown on facebook ads? bah, that's nothing. They blow money like that all the time on things that don't work out. And then you wonder why you're paying $30,000 for a car built almost entirely of cheap plastic?

For the last decade, the S&P500 has remained essentially flat, while CEO compensation has gone up 500% -- Companies may be getting more profitable, but that value is going right into someone's pocket, it's not going to share value, it's not going to re-investment, and it's not going to jobs.

Forbes is drinking the kool-aid, and is missing the big picture. In fact, this article is probably fluff to distract us from the *REAL* story, that the market itself is failing.

Take Friday's big relevation that a certain big bank lost $2 billion is a bad trade. Do any of you actually believe that hogwash? We're talking about a company big enough to manipulate the market in their favor, every time. We're talking a bank, an organization that can't lose money because of the way the entire game is rigged -- only an idiot could lose money at a bank.

I notice that all these changes (slashdot TV, for example) came *after* Taco left, but something tells me these plans were on the whiteboard well before the retirement happened.

Slashdot is just a name now. In the early days of the web (1995 to 2002), slashdot was a big deal, but the unfortunate reality is, they are losing money compared to say Chezbuger.org or whoever owns lolcats.

The sad reality is that pictures of fat people in walmart generates more ad revenue than a "news for nerds" website.

And this is why Taco left. Facebook is king, and Slashdot isn't. The web has changed. It's not the place it used to be. Now it's about Facebook and Google. They make the rules. And now you have to play by those rules or die.
