It's about that Google want to be able to move Google computers around in any datacenter asap. We know that google uses a grid of single computers, that all compute the search results as fast as possible. All these computers create a space-problem (physical space) at any datacenter that Google owns. Also, shipping these computers around costs money. I bet google store this "secret package" just to be able to send it around anywhere where there suddenly is a problem with the network.. We all know how much money google loose if they are experiencing downtime...
well. if just symantec could create bug-free software. the antivirus and stuff like that just is like VERY abusive to any system withou 9999Ghz with 999GB ram. I welcome any antivirus from ANY vendor that actually work like it should, even if it's from Microsoft.
1. Check Windowsupdate for what updates you need 2. Just go for the microsoft.com website and download any security update manually.
Microsoft must always allow this, because many servers do not have internet, thus one must be able to download updates manually and e.g. burn them on a CD.
This is not true unless you let users install drivers themselves. Any reasonable administrator have allready blocked this in their default windows installation!
I've installed Apache on windows, and I recently discovered that there was no Frontpage extensions for WINDOWS! I refuse running IIS on Windows, so what do I do?:)

The annoyances of Mozilla products (Windows)
on
Firefox 1.05 Released
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
1. Why do they still release just complete versions? I want an update to distribute to all our clients. Mozilla products are update hell.
2. Why do they still insist on supporting many profiles per user? If I would like multiple profiles, then I would also create multiple users on my Windows.
3. Why are profile paths so strange? The mozilla creates something like...\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default.21a. That's hilarious.
4. Why do they use Application data folder for cache? It's making the users' profile LARGE! They should use...\Local Settings\ like internet explorer! (local settings belong to the machine, thus they do not roam like the application data folder)
America, wake up! You should do something about the VIOLENCE, not the SEX! America has FAR MANY PEOPLE KILLED EACH DAY, still organizations seem to care about nudity issues.
When I first saw booth-babes, I thought it were some sort of sex-industry show. I think this would NEVER happened in Norway, and I was a little disappointed when I realized that it was for real.
World, the time has come to stop using girls to attract attention!
Well. I do agree to some extent. . but it's not all about TCO or MONEY here:
The Universites and schools is about delivering GOOD graduate students. This is the real capital turnover for those.
Also, one must not forget that many universites and such have a large number of technical-staff, which may now not be needed, as the Microsoft platform do not need as much local support as before. But many educational institutions refuse to "let them go"... And trust me, it require MORE staff for Linux/unix than Windows now. But this might of course change.
I refuse to have a dozen students that have to comply with OpenOffice when they write larger documents. It's still too buggy!
In his latest 60 minutes interview (the one about episode III), he emphasized that he will NOT do ANYTHING more about Star Wars. He wanted to start doing more artistic movies.
...is that the PC-version has been in stores for WEEKS, and it's STILL not cracked! I guess the new version of the protection "StarForce 3" was really hard to crack!
I know a LOT of admins (im an admin myself). And I must point out that 90% know VERY little about Windows security. E.g. "Have you ever configured a Group Policy before?" And most of them would say "Har har! Group Policy? Is that something new that creates a blue screen?".
Well I've got news for you. Windows is VERY secure nowadays. BUT it require admins to lock-down the OS (e.g. do not give users admin-rights or similar). By looking at our own stats at my workplace, the largest security problem nowadays is NFS and mis-configured Linux computers. BTW did I also mention that most of the Windows boxes have a far better on-line time than Linux? I know they have to reboot quite often, but that's about it. The reboots are at night-time anyways.
The pictures clearly shows that the graphics card is overheating.
What's this really about?

We have a B-net and we don't really need it.
I guess many other have the same issue.

We allready have www.steampowered.com for this. You should try it too.
It's only security fixes. Not much news here.
Dear Google. Include a calendar, and I can finally get rid of this sh*t called Outlook.

This is just another twist at the Telecommunication companies' way to squeeze just a little more money out of people.
.MOBI DOMAINS!
Look, all phones would soon read normal html like any other web-browser (e.g. look at Opera's reader for mobile phones).
There's absolutely NO REASON why this mobile-domain should be created.
TELECOM! WE WON'T BUY ANY MOBILES THAT ARE LIMITED TO

because then viruses would erase your CMOS
Why not first create X, XI, and XII
and THEN go with VII, VII and IX?
They do provide netbeans-4_1-windows.exe, but where's the distributable .MSI??
When I shall deploy this to hundreds of PC, do they want me to go install this manually on each PC?
- stiff acting
- all confrontations felt unlogic
- halfway, the movie turned to desperately make the transition to episode IV
And last, but not least; the movie just didn't feel real, as it was so easy to see all rendered scenes. Bad physics and too much show-off.
When I first saw booth-babes, I thought it were some sort of sex-industry show. I think this would NEVER happened in Norway, and I was a little disappointed when I realized that it was for real.

I fear Microsoft try to make Mac/Sony-similar design or something.
They fail.
Longhorn and Xbox360 look really.. uh.. "unbranded"

coz it's so hard to read on screen.
:)
Who needs PAGES on SCREEN?
pdf is stupid AND proprietary !
but of course it's nice that he released it

I really feel he's breaking with his words.

I would like to include my opinion here.
