If the near epileptic fit the left had over Bush didn't clue anyone in... how can you be surprised or dismayed by some from the right? After there are zealots on both sides and needless to say, their actions sell news. The news doesn't care about the majority of conservatives or liberals who act rationally, its more fun to find the loons.
The only President the US needs is one who can stand up to Congress and beat them down with the bully pulpit and get this country's finances in order. What we have now is same crap we had with Bush for 6 years, anything goes as one party in power is always ruinous for the US
to identify specific markers which then if necessary can be confirmed by samples taken from the digestive tract.
I recently went through a baterial infection which after treatment with Flagyl (sp) cleared the wrong types from my system. Before then two doctors were sure I had celiac but blood tests cleared that off the table. If you test positive to the blood test they take samples from your system to confirm it. For most doctors the blood test is sufficient. In my case while it came back clear I had similar reactions (blood in stool - (its not red btw) to many products with gluten in them. Hence a blood test for Celiac and another other possible physical causes (liver, kidneys, pancreas) . Through isolation and strict diet where I recorded everything for eight weeks that I ate and my reactions I was able to work with my GI doctor to determine the true cause; that being wrong type of bacteria or parasites in my intestines, most likely through contact with fecal matter and improper washing. Think, having dogs and such.
In other words, what goes around comes around. We keep striving for perfect or near perfect safety and technology is getting closer to giving it to us, however I think the ultimate requirement is that we hand over driving to computers and by then why would you want a car?
I have a home alarm system where the primary purpose to alert the authorities in case of fire. With two dogs at home during the day by themselves I figured it was worth piece of mind. With a simple placard by the front door alerting people that there are dogs in the house should an emergency to arise. If it deters someone from breaking in and sticking around to find the valuables while I am not home all the better.
There is a large free standing B&N up the street from me and a similarly large Borders not far down the road. The B&N has a Starbucks which probably draws a good number of people to the B&N on its own.
While book pricing isn't bad its not great. New releases usually can be found cheaper elsewhere and they lord over you the fact that you can buy into their membership with a low $25 fee to get books at better prices. This is where they lose me, I don't want to be badgered into being a member of their store, let alone pay for the privilege. Throw in the horrendous pricing in their DVD and CD section and suddenly I find myself comparing all prices or desiring to hit the net to see if I can find it cheaper. Membership "rewards" never come across as friendly, let alone one I have to pay for.
While I do laud them for having an atmosphere that encourages spending time there, reading, sipping coffee, and etc, they need to work on their pricing and ditch this pay for membership to get a discount routine. Just ditch the requirement to get a discount on books entirely.
the "rebate" does not come off the price of the car at purchase, if your buying the car you need to have the credit or funds available to buy it at its list price and pay taxes for that list price.
Hence GM is offering a low lease rate on the Volt in hopes of making it more affordable.
I will keep my Golf TDI for the time being, which btw up until last June qualified for $1300 or $1700 in "rebate"; the difference was between manual and automatic transmission. My average mileage, recorded on fueleconomy.gov has been 42.3 which is great for my commute of 26 miles one way over mostly two lane country roads and brief periods on four lane roads; no interstates.
a degree is not required for many fields yet from reading all the literature available one would come away not believing that. College is a very well marketed product. While there are fields which a degree is required many have no such need, as such we get degrees in soft areas, knowledge sets with little to apply to the business world.
What is wrong is far too many expect a degree to be a grant for a job. Some take it further and expect more than the job is worth to the employer. Having forgot their own self importance they developed while in school does not translate to the real world. We as a people tend to over value ourselves, our opinions, and undervalue those in others.
Throw in a lot of class envy and it becomes easier to sell the young on the need of a degree. It never ceases to amaze me how many twenty somethings are driving new BMWs (leased of course) and at the same grousing because they don't have enough money. Too many are of the instant gratification game and dismiss the time many of their peers and superiors put into their careers. It is not uncommon to have a new hire with a head full of new ideas and no patience to understand the system they work within. The best new hires I have seen are those who spent their summers as interns. The acclimate very quickly and their knowledge is put to better use and directed properly.
this new proclamation does not have a cause listed. This allows them to to avoid some of the debate. It also allows the to solidify their side as well. Global Warming supporters all have "proofs" for their chosen cause. They just don't like to agree and some are pretty vehement in their disagreement. However they can support "Global Warming is increasing".
Still it does come down to two questions.
1) Should we be doing something to change the planet's climate?
Really, if something as simple as a STOP sign is distressing I cannot imagine other laws of inconvenience to you during the course of the rest of your drive. Cannot count the times people drifting through STOP signs have almost winged me on my motorcycle or my car. It isn't bad enough with lack of attention from cell phones too many people just don't obey the signs out of habit leaving motorcyclist like me to approach all such intersections as potential death traps.
Or do we just arbitrarily punish people based on job title? Maybe we can just zing the ones with high salaries!
Get them where it hurts, the pocketbook. Nice large fines to be used to better the safety of the industry as a whole. Set it equal to the costs to clean up the mess plus at least a quarter's or more profit. Stock holders won't take kindly to a board that allows this to go on long.
Jailing executives over decisions underlings performed would be great, but damn why not start with our government first. Would we even have any President or Cabinet official living free?
I just picked up an Acer One netbook from Target for $199 this week. Windows 7 basic (lose some features I could care less about). 10 inch screen LED lit, 1024x600, 1.66 Atom processor, 1g ram, 160g hard drive, and wi-fi.
Why would I want to build anything with prices like that? Best of all, its very portable, has lasted almost eight hours on a charge, and the keyboard is good too.
but they have been conditioned by expert marketing to view what they can afford by monthly costs. A phone contract looks less painful when you say $50 a month instead of $600 a year. People are made poor by the multitude of 'monthlies' they pay for. For many the cost difference between a contract and no contract is a wash.
Lets not forget one other issue besides price, better phones were not far behind coming out, not only technically better but marketed better.
and some of it is on mainstream sites. Why pictures and video may be more in your face text can be just as bad. Worse while not law breaking the amount of hate espoused and condoned on some sites boggles the mind. The problem is many of these site moderators hold particular views and see no reason to affect change in their enlightened views all the while not realizing the amount of traffic lost because of it.
I gave up reading some Mac centric sites simply because of the bashing that goes on in their open forums (usually political and the like). I know, "but don't read these". Well there are many conversations that I do want to participate in, however getting past the tripe that lands in even these legitimate threads gets tiresome. Worse is when the site treats one type of speech offensive versus another where both are hateful.
No, I don't think I would want to do either job. I get annoyed enough at some sites as it is, I cannot imagine having to do it purposefully.
on Apple's store your suggesting we avoid Apple products? I figure you were going to imply Android as being less safe, but the only recent story about market safety I have seen is someone exploiting iTunes accounts to the benefit of a single developer.

I do not see why they are required to allow discussions of that subject considering the number of sites where you are free to discuss it.

but one left leaning group acting does not support a trend on one side or another. While your political bias is obvious and you do believe what you do extrapolating it such as you do is not accurate.
What we see here in your response is others is acceptance of an issue because it supports the viewpoints of those responding favorably to it. Throw in the left/right condemnation of the mainstream media; itself a generic term that has different meaning to different viewers; and the whole comment comes off as a coffee sipping head nod.
There are very few polls conducted fairly, we have seen this in polls leading up to elections as well as exit polls. Having seen some exit pollsters at work I have seen one common theme, they ask people like themselves. As in, they look similar.
What this action by DailyKOS may do is spur groups on both sides to look at their data in new light. Not every group is blessed with good statistical oversight and many on both sides will discount examinations of their data because it the criticism is seen as leaning the wrong way. Right now with the level of political strife it is only natural for some groups to dig because of the level acrimony.
I know just as many on the right and left who latch on to polls and it never amazes me that they like pollsters who show results that agree with their political leaning and disparage polls that don't as slanted. Its human nature.
if their husband is making a good salary. I have seen quite a few leave where I work and all were able to do so because they could live off their husbands salary. Most even made a point of it. There were a few who left for pregnancy and not come back, even those who were adamant that a child would not keep them from work. It does seem to be cultural that women can more take off and rely on their husbands salary than the reverse. I guess that goes to show men all haven't matured enough to play second to their wives. At least I don't remember any guy who quit using his wife as a means of support.
It certainly is an industry full of presumptuous jerks. People who while they made end up at the top of IT they will never be at the top of the company and they seem to over compensate.

Any industry handling dangerous materials which does not adhere to known proper safeguards and procedures is subject to a major disaster. You can toss in Nuclear power too as seen in Russia. It does not matter if it is government or a private entity, things can go wrong, things go wrong faster when you don't pay attention
