It simply wasn't policy. Yet the TSA as a whole cannot know what every airport out of the ordinary unless there is some easy to access place to get that information. Its even better that it comes from someone other than their own people. I bet the local screeners who were requiring these items removed didn't know they were in the wrong, it probably started with some supervisor or such and spread within the airport because it seemed like a good idea.

I fully expect most suggestions to be ignored because many should be. Some will just be impossible to implement and others would be physicaly impossible (GFY for one). Who knows, someone might suggest to the TSA something they are overlooking. Still I hope the complaints come in as some TSA setups are just damn stupid, having moved beyond abusive. Heaven knows my little old mother and her Shih Tzu are a threat; she hasn't made it through TSA once without them going over the dog and her luggage EVERY SINGLE TIME.

The TSA is yet another bloated and overbearing government organization that will never go away. The employees are unionized which furthers the impossibility of removing this mess. Considering its size I am amazed anyone ever thought we could get rid of it.

These states acting on their own are large enough to force manufacturers to accomodate them instead of abandoning them simply with California being the base.

I still think that SUVs will again rule after a short decline. Once series hybrid and similar SUV's come along getting upwards if not more than 35 effective MPG people will have even less reason to switch. Look at it this way, with each big increase in MPG the incentive to move to a small car gets less and less. Me, I would love a SUV with 35+ capability in city and highway (crossover sized, though the upcoming VW small SUV might make that mileage)

I really tire of all the people who bitch about the lack of trains. There are many reasons it just doesn't work here.

People tend to no longer follow jobs. Its no fun uprooting family. Used to be you went where the work was. Now too many people get by living off of government handouts (I have friends in rent controlled apartments who basically don't work - 30% of their income is the max charge the apartment can do... they get their limited disability checks and others each month and do what, play EQ and WOW, why does that work, because some people will accept a lower lifestyle if they don't have to do anything)

Simply put, the Founding Fathers knew that governments become corrupt and they sought to head it off at the start, the Constitution defines the rights the people give to government, not what government gives to the people. It puts strict limits on how the government can act. The states were to be powerful entities in their own right.

Unfortunately our courts were supposed to protect us from the government making laws unconstitutional but they failed. Instead being government cronies themselves they let the government run the public and states over. Combined with the public being given the ability to vote for Senators and states lost their ability to oppose the government.

Doesn't mean the people gave in. While many are just fine and dandy with taking government handouts they don't want them in their house. A national id is like inviting them in. Once their in they will suddenly show up for dinner telling you what you can eat, telling you what you can watch or listen too, let alone eventually telling you what doctor your allowed to see.

We give up too much of our freedom already. We do not need a National ID card to prevent erroneous entry on documents we fill out during our days. We certainly don't need a one size fits all easy to create fradulent versions to further identity theft.

I am also quite sure that money is available for bridges and schools and such but is diverted to PET PROJECTS. Yes, pork exist at all levels. There are probably some really good projects done just for local politicians and even federal one's where the money should have been spent on bridges.

See, the thing that offends me about the initial subject of this is trying to load up one side of the argument with items you can't disagree with without being an ass. The politicians GEM of a saying to get your money and especially someone else's is " BUT IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN " . No corporation wants to hurt children do they? Hence people go right along allowing their taxes to go up because politicians won't spend the money they have already for the item needed but want new money. Well all that comes out of the taxpayers pocket. Microsoft and others will simply pass those taxes along to you and me. What, you don't buy their products? Too bad, someone you do business with does. Its all one big dogde. Government goons know they can redirect your ire by embedding taxes so you can't see them. Gas shoots up in 09 suddenly because of a tax on "excessive" profits will get the gas companies blamed, not the government.

Why not start looking to where the money is going when its needed elsewhere instead of some corporations bank account? You do realize that every tax dollar Microsoft spends is simply taken from their customers and their customers customers... and so on and so on. It also will take money from people through 401k loss and the like.

The reason corporations are located in higer taxe bracket areas isn't because of the support needed, its because these corporations can bear the taxes. The Pope of modern days must first respect his fellow Catholics and that means staying the course with little deviation. He walks a fine line in that while he does have a great amount of knowledge; don't fool yourself in believing him ignorant, while that may offer you solace in your belief he is far from it. In fact I figure he is well educated in this issue and its that education which puts a great difficulty before him. We will celebrate a whoring celebrity, a deceitful politician, and the almighty dollar, yet laugh at someone who is offers his beliefs to us.

What does it say about us? What does it say about him? The Church will be here long after many of us. It is through declarations like this that give us insight into how its going forward. While all religions have their radicals the leader of any stable religion can no longer afford such. Still they cannot stand still. He has opened a large door and taken a big step but here many are chastising him for not taking more steps. Give them time. They are monolithic and essentially eternal. They cannot he held to the same clock we hold ourselves. We make a decision and it usually affects us solely, the Church makes a decision and it affects tens of millions. As such their steps must be much more carefully thought out and delivered. I think he has made a great opening. He has relieve many Catholics who are in this line of research of many choices of faith that burdens them. He has given them freedom that many felt they may not have had. While he still have put barriers up he has shown some flexibility which allows the Church and its followers to go forward.
