    Maybe from the number of cars etc you could work out how many gas pumps there are in the US, but not all gas stations are the same size. some have multiple lanes and can cope with large numbers of cars simultaneously, and others are 2 or 3 pump mom and pop style operations (especially in small towns.)

    Gas stations sell other things besides gas and oil.

    Totally inadequate more like.
    It doesnt even have DCC
    whats the use of an IRC client that doesnt do DCC
    (To me the DCC chat is even more important that DCC send files - I need it to communicate with bots on some networks, and also to have a lag immune private conversation with my fiancee)

    Sometimes even if the graft is successful (ie not rejected), there may be other problems arising from the operation.

    In my case the pupil of the eye dilated, and didnt go back yo normal, so it lets in way too much light. Also the new cornea eye combination was longsighted, and I couldnt read (except realy large print) with that eye, so I didnt get the other eye corrected.

    Of course that was over 20 years ago, things may have improved.

    its going to be very boroing looking at the same part of the sky for thousands of years.

    Once you have scanned one target star/galaxy/ nebula you have to wait anther coupler of millenia to get to the next intersting spot. By that time we should have invented warp drive or some other FTL technology and visited the place...

    We will just have to stop buying Universal CD's then, and tell all your friends and relatives that you don;t want them as presents for Xmans since you can't play them. (Of course nearly all the universal cds being sold at the moment are not protected, but if people arent sure tey may avoid them anyway, leading to a massive drop in sales at one of the busiest times of the year.

    It may encourage the groups and artists to switch record companies too.

    BTW I dont rip CD's and upload them as mp3s but I do make compilation cd's for my own use. If I cant do that then I wont buy CDs.

    If it was in orbit on its own (ie not in the spacecraft or station) then it could have zero gravity.

    The Space station has mass, and as such its environment is called microgravity rather than zero gravity.

    Of course te affect is just barely meadureable.

    in New Zealand football means 'rugby union'
    in parts of australia football means 'rugby league'
    in other parts of australia football means 'aussie rules'
    in europe football means soccer
    in USA of course its grid iron

    I went to a Mcdonalds in Fargo, ND at the end of july, and they didnt accept credit cards. I did of course have cash on me.

    (This was early in the morning, which may have had something to do with it, the rest of the town ddnt open til 10am...)

    There may be a power shortage in California but not all of us live in Cali... And for those of you that say that leaving a computer running 24*7 is a waste of power, if it is winter, then the power is not wasted, after all the heat given off by the computer means less other heaters have to be used. Finally it doesnt shorten the life of the computer, since there is less heat and electrical stress if its on all the time.

    THere is a way to have a reactionless drive, and yet conserve momentum and energy. You just need to have some 'negative mass'. (Note that negative matter is not antimatter (which has ordinary mass but reversed charge and spin). Negative mass (gravitaionally) repells normal mass but is attracted to it, so if you place a negative mass behind your 'ship' it will chase it and they will both accelerate. If the masses are equal then there is conservation of energy and momentum. As they both get faster the acceleration increases due to relativity (mass increases and distance decreases as you approach c.) Or course there is still the problem of how to stear the thing, or stop it for that matter. And the minor fact that nobody has yet discovered any negative mass. /[][] Ross
