we just use CVS to manage everything. It may not have the scope of some of the larger systems but we all know how to use it (and there are purty web frontends;))
I have a Bit Char-G, and it is pretty cool. It comes in kit form and you build it yourself. To drive it is ok, but better if you leave the chasis off (you can spin a lot better with less weight). You place the car on the side of the controller to charge it up before you use it, so no heavy batteries are on the car. The charged up car lasts about 2-3 mins before needing charging again but it is pretty cool.
I remember the joy on my friends face when we were both 14 and I came to germany with a smuggled copy of a fully gored up quake 1:)
and then seeing command and conquer where people bleed oil!? It's an important thing that germany has good broadband coverage to get the uncut versions of games.
I agree with the principle, but since my mp3 CD player does not support ogg I am stuck with mp3 (and it's a lot easier to get mp3 than ogg). FLAC I use for things that require some compression but not lossless. I use it mainly for trading concerts, though the standard seems to be shorten (shn), I personally prefer the open flac (and if you look at the comparison you will see that FLAC is more efficient.
FWIW, I get a concert down to about 320MB for 18 tracks using FLAC.
as a mark of respect for those who made p2p the big thing that it is today, all files transferred at the conference should be metallica music and/or videos.
I am on a philips brilliance 150P2 right now and the quality is fantastic. There is a slight blur when you scoll, but it is nothing that stands out unless you are actually looking for it, and even then it is not really a problem and occurs on all LCDs.
The best thing about it is being able to pivot the monitor to play vertical mame games vertically. It works great in linux as well:)
well I guess 4 months of suffering beforehand might make episode 2 actually enjoyable (maybe a lot of mind bending drugs would be needed as well).

The Euro

They do and did use a different currency - the Irish punt (Irish punt: 0.787564 - 1 GBP) compared to British Pound Sterling from before the Euro... read the bbc story.
What is in place to prevent Microsoft from potentially bribing you or other members of the commitee? Would you turn down 7 figure offers for the good of the computing community?
Interesting also if brag-rights are upheld. There was definate status for seeing terminator 2 when I was 8 or so, and everyone wanted to see it. Would that right be ruined for the poor children if they can say that freely about any film?
Be interesting to see how they handle films which are almost nothing but gore/nudity/violence. a 10 minute tarantino flick? I see some parents wanting their money back:)... unless they splice scenes from other programs (barney maybe?) in with it to pad it out to a movie length again.
- why do I have to be Mr Pink?
- because (system kicks in)
I love you, you love me, we're a happy family
(system cuts out) ok?
- oh.
mmmmmm automatic graphics card detection... so sweet on every redhat since 7.0 ^_^... 1 CD to install all drivers for most hardware I use... plug n play sound supported beautifully... 1 reboot after installing.
Got to love the modern linux installers:)
beats having to use (and find) 5 different CDs to install OS/graphics/sound/network/peripherals anyway IMHO
I was using kazaa when there were only (he he) 20000 users on at one time back in the early days of the network. Originally it was unstoppable and the suits would have paid for publicity and would have only been a good thing, but now that they have gone centralised (those fools!) I am losing faith. I am VERY keen on seeing openFT up and running so that we can just strap a peer to peer library onto all of our existing applications. (ROM sharing anyone:)).
Perhaps we should take a moment to thank Garth from Waynes World... for showing lay people that others with long hair and glasses are potentially great with technology:)
I love his chat up line at the end of waynes world 2... 'Is that a UNIX book?'
Krishnas
GTA 2, 3rd City IIRC
Sega are the biggest games publisher. EA lost the throne when Sega ditched the hardware. And what a job Sega do... thank you sonic team :)
about a year and two days ago?
and gartner still recommended that people ditch IIS for apache... damn IIS must really suck!
even at university level I would guess it is still quite easy to find virgin programmers :P
ok bad bad humour... mod me down

> I have been looking for a more open game console
Well the most open console available is Korea's GamePark 32. Some good info can be found at Lik-Sang and also dev'rs.
The console basically uses standard flash media for cartridges and plays back mp3s, has the same resolution as a SNES, etc.
> Perhaps you don't understand the nature of Java. The whole idea is that you don't have to port an application at all.
Well it would still have to be converted to J2ME from standard java.
wow they have ported VNC to it already!

they both give it their 'virtual blessing' accroding to an article on the register

I think that they work like this:
if (last_patent.stupidity < proposed_patent.stupidity) {
proposed_patent.grant();
}
too late, I am too lazy to find an URL/search but there is a nickelodeon racers as well. I have seen it in EB here in the UK a few times.
