There has been some discussion in my mailing-list about what would happen if all peers did this. I came conclusion that assuming we got a reasonably healthy swarm where most of the peers download faster than their playback, (twice as fast should be enough) and those peers use the spare bandwidth to download the rarest chunks, then that should ensure there is enough leechers with the last parts of the torrent. I don't think the randomized rarest-first algorithm would even need to be tweaked for this to work properly.
The stores won't put an open item that looks like *that* back on the shelf, so fewer returns. Uhm, they won't take back a non-functioning item because they can't resell it due the wrapping being messed up? WTF?

This is because the table has a period of time where it is not being used for its primary purpose, eating.
Where in the PS3 queue does any inefficiency off PS3 distribution accrue? The PS3's will be distributed at the same pace no matter how many decide to camp out for a week. If you're just pissed cause someone else with more dedication will get one before you, why not just say so instead of making up some bad armchair analysis of the situation?

Well, we're actually quite well educated and you shouldn't have any problem finding people here who would know about that theory. Though I guess we prefer our current system as we get less crappy goods/services stuffed down our throats, like you guys do over there.
