The reason we have a Republican Nation is that Americans "do give a shit" and voted for the Republicans.
Actually, according to this, The American people voted Democrat. The Electoral college voted Republican. The fairest way to have an election that is going to effect the entire country is to have each person's vote count equally. This would also encourage more voters. Growing up In Alaska, I found it frustrating to have the elections announced before I went to the poles, not just some news station's prediction, but the actual official announcement.
Listining to music while you're skiing or snowboarding is no more dangerous than listening to it in your car.
You're absolutely right. Listening to music while snowboarding (or roller skating, or riding a motorcycle) is no more dangerous than listening to music while driving. What you might notice is (at least in the US) it is illegal to drive a car with headphones. Background music is one thing, but music that blocks out all other sounds (car horns, ambulace sirens, screeching tires, screaming pedestrians) is something completely different.
Battlebot participants don't exert themselves physically, so it's not a sport.
Not So! You think those radio controllers don't take a little muscle to manuever? You are grossly mistaken, my friend.
In the off season any good Battle-Botter can be seen working out their thumb muscles with the aid of (insert name of latest high tech video game console here).
It is hoped the programming needed to make a prototype arm which can fetch a drink could be completed within a year.
OK. So here's the world's most advanced robot hand, and it's going to fetch a drink. This doesn't seem like something a disabled person would need, this seems like something an extremely lazy person would need.
Yes, it's an extremely interesting hand
At the last company I worked for we toyed around with some of these From ProMark Technologies. It had a "shower-proof" Keyboard that survived at least one of My soda spills, was low power, had PCMCIA, built in sound, and room for PCI or ISA cards. Something like this would be great in a boat where space and power were limited.
Interestingly enough, it looks like the guys at unix.net might possibly think that they're unix.org.
Quote from http://www.unix.net:
They decided to file a legal domain dispute with WIPO, effectively ripping the domain from the owner and UNIX (tm) community. They have also filed claims against unix.com and
unix.net
Either that or they're so upset about losing their domain that they wanted to tell you twice.
The only advantage I can think of is the fact that you don't have to use a seperate mp3 player if you want to play a video game and listen to music at the same time. Oh wait....
Just as Jesus was crucified to pay for the sins of all mankind, you and I, and other responsible cell phone users will have our phones forcibly shut off to pay for the sins of those who talk on the phone during a movie.
They (don't) need to take extremist action. We're not little kids.
Some of us are. Haven't you seen the commercial where the 12 year old girl gets grounded for smoking pot and calls her (12 year old) friend's cell phone while he's in the movie?
In actuality though, a lot of people, no matter how old they are, have the common courtesy of a little kid when it comes to turning off/setting your phone/pager/wireless potato to vibrate. I've been in theatres when people have had 6 minute conversations with the kid who's babysitting for them or their friend who is (very irresponsibly) driving around trying to find the theatre.
Those of us who are responsible enough and have common courtesy might be punished for it. The world sees a problem "Some people don't turn off their phones in the theatre." and comes up with a solution "We won't let ANYONE use a phone in the theatre, even if they are responsible enough to use it properly." That's the way things have been working for a long time, I don't nescessarily see a change in that policy.
It
isn't windows.
If what you expect Genuine Windows then BUY Genuine Windows.
Ah, but when someone goes into WalMart and says "Does this run Windows?", the Sales Rep. is more than likely going to be one of two people: 1. The kind who says "No, it runs Lindows, but Lindows can run all of the Windows Programs, so they're basically the same." 2. The kind who thinks is actually is Windows, because they have never used a computer other than the cash register and says "Yeah, it runs Windows." and goes back to dusting off TVs.
I would be really impressed if Lindows actually ran MOST Windows software as the ad claims. I would be even more impressed if the "Windows software" they are talking about only includes the latest productivity and entertainment software. I wouldn't be impressed if "MOST" refers to old Windows 3.1 games and MSPAINT.EXE.
Had to "find | xargs grep" for the old ip address and finally found another config file buried in a system folder that only got set on install and not reset by the networking tools.
RedHat *is* reliable. I can rely on the fact that my network settings for my primary ehternet interface are in:
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
What "funky config tool" did you use? Most people I know have alot of luck with vi.
Cary Sherman, president of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), a music industry lobbying organization, approves of spoofing as both "an appropriate response to the problem of peer-to-peer piracy," and "a self-help measure that is completely lawful...
Am I missing something here? Looping 30 seconds of the song is completely lawful? What happens if I share one file looping the 1st 30 seconds of a song, another file looping the 2nd 30 seconds of the song, etc. etc. etc. I'm still sharing the whole song, just in smaller chunks. Is this still completely lawful?
oops. Polls.
Considering the "collectors" edition of the trilogy and the prequils to the trilogy, I don't even think the movies are limited by the movies.
Yes. Our tablet is much better than this Apple Laptop that was made 6 years ago. Microsoft Tablet thingy is the wave of the future!

Duke Of Uke. He covers such songs as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Anarchy in the UK". just him and his Uke, very interesting.
Step One: Collect Underpants.
Step Two: ????
Step Three: Profit!
I went to the site and they were using Quicktime VR to show off their stuff. What I'd like to see are actual photographs of the holograms in use.

According to this review of Lindows on NewsForge makes it seem like you have to run your Windows software as root for it to work properly.
