Instead of "Indonesia has apparently decided to play the IP game, with the world's health at stake.", you could easily say "American Drug company decided to play the IP game, with Indonesia's health at stake."
"it does not need energy because it is powered by light."
As I understand it, the object the demon works on has to be isolated from the universe. If this 'demon' is powered by light, its not isolated, because outside influences are acting on it.
I think maxwell's thought experiment still stands, thanks come again.
I am trying to think of a technical limitation where they could not be able to isolate an IP, or more specificaly, a MAC address. Can someone point out some? Maybe between two border routers or something?
Why is this any different than any other organization pulling my credit report? I check my reports every 3-4 months, and I see all sorts of people yanking my credit report. Mostly to send me junk mail that i throw away.
Its not like the government is going through my mail or listening to my phone calls...
The ERSB is obviously over reacting to this 'hack'. This isnt blatant nudity, this is a form that has textures applied over it to give the appearance of wearing clothing. If you actualy SAW the 'naked' image, all you see are wierd looking psudo breasts, that are not even complete. There is no nipple, there is no obvious sexuality. And there is certanly no minigame where you get to boink anywhere ALA hot coffee.
the ERSB is just rying to show they "putting their foot down" against nudity in games. Unfortunately they are doing it the wrong way, but that does not really matter to them. Walmart mom and k-mart dad don't really understand layered modeling and don't really care.
Since now these comapnies are making decisions on what and how much sites will be traveling over their pipes, does this mean they lose their common carrier status?
From a evolution and survival of the species standpoint, it makes sense. Since the offspring is so dependant on the mother for food for many years after birth, the species needs to ensure that the mother lives to provide.
1: The ads are there, and are kind of annoying, but they are only in some areas such as the HART center, where you launch off to the various places to fight, and some spawn rooms. They have not been all that annoying and intrusive, just a poster on a wall. You actualy don't spend much time at all in these places, so its not that bad.
2: The new players it seem will get only the basic rifle and other stuff. No implants, no access to vehicles so they are limited to what they can do. They won't be able to really drain resources from the paying customers so thats not going to be a factor.
PS is really a fun game and I do play it quite a lot. So, welcome newbies, here's your rifle and armor, go fight for the TR!
I love how everyone on the right rails about the media being a leftist propaganda wing, while the people on the left call it a mouthpiece for the Bush white house.
Both are BS. The press leans whichever way will make it the most money.
The media exists to make money. Simple as that. They provide a service people pay for, and they temper their reporting to get the most exposure. Ever hear of "if it bleeds it leads?"
This is simply another example of the media 'sexing' up a story to get more attention and interest. I mean, which sounds more dramatic, "kid kills self, net friends try to talk him out of it", or "kid kills self, net fiends egg him on and watch his deathtrows on webcam."
The press leans neither left nor right, they lean towards $$$
Along those lines, I read somewhere that picking your nose and eating it was good for you too, since you are getting all sorts of weakened bacteria that your body can get an immunity too.
Since its unlikely this ISP will see one red cent from this guy, I read that they can write the judgement off. A discount for them, but even worse for the spammer, a form of 'income' to him since he does not have to pay
So the IRS will be knocking on his door, asking for their rightfull taxes.
When I was taking a business trip once, I sat next to a man who turned out to be a lawyer for a biochemical company. How he explained this to me was that the genes that are being patented are not the 'native' gene that is in every human, but a 'purified' version of the gene that has extranious garbage taken out.
So CGDAAADAACG that you may find in nature, you get CGAAAAACG, since the D enzyme are considered garbage in this example.
I asked him if they really knew that the D enzyme was really garbage, and he said that they did not, but they were fairly confident it didnt do anything.
Comparing MS and IBM is flawed imo. IBM was the big company before the rise of personal computers that felt it was unstoppable in its world, and did not have the foresight to see that personal computing would someday overtake server style computing. They truely thought that only big corporations would need computers.
MS on the other hand is aware, paranoid actualy that they will be dethroned. While their leaders may act out in stupid and juvinile ways (throwing chairs anyone?), they are aware of the problem and will fight tooth and nail to keep from being dethroned.
This is yet another example of a 'feelgood' law, that conservative lawmakers pass to appeal to their base, and to be able to see "See, I am fighting immorality!"
Yet the law is 100 percent ineffective. First of all, there is no way they can ever block every single source of smut on the internet. Seconmd of all, its an opt in system. You choose to have these sites blocked, the ISP isnt blocking them for you. parents can do this already with a number of 'childware' packages already out there.
So really, what is the law good for? Nothing, except appealing to the base.
What good is the ACLU challenge? None either, except making them selves look more like 'champions of pron' to the conservative members of this country.
"What? Spend a couple of thousand dollars per airplane on some feature we don't really need so a buncha egghead scientists can look for ET? Ha! Get real. We have better things to worry about, like not going out of business!"

A few weeks ago, some consultants come up and sit with the guy across the asle from me. One of the guys kept peering over at my screen, reading what I was typing. Not only is it rude, but its also a security violation.
So i start up our internal IM client, and start chatting with a friend of mine. I start describing in great detail how this guy is peeing over my shoulder, how rude it is, and then I start going into how much this man weighs, how his beard looks like a birds nest, how ugly he is, whatnot.
The guy starts giving me REALLY mean looks.
To which I type out "Hi Mr Nosey, don't like what I am typing? Don't READ MY SCREEN!"
He turned around in a huff, and would not say a civil word to me that day.
Yes, it is able to specify sites you don't want it to cache/accelerate.
Right click on the clock icon in your toolbar, select preferences, and at the bottom of the page displayed there is a section that reads "Specify sites that should not go through Google Web Accelerator."
I plan on putting all my banking info in there. Don't want them knowing stuff like that.
Well, it did. Sorry. The concept was good, but the execution fell flat. Building your lair and hiring goons was cool and all, but that seemed to be the end of it. To get anything done you just placed goons on a map of the world and waited while tehy did their evil things. After a while, it became very boring and pointless.
Am I sorry to see Elixar go? Yes and no. They did not really make good games, but who knows, maybe they would have came out with something.
I wonder how much money she got to be fired, how many millions? Its sick that employees get fired with not much more than a kick in the butt, but execs who do a horrid job get millions on their way out the door.
Instead of "Indonesia has apparently decided to play the IP game, with the world's health at stake.", you could easily say "American Drug company decided to play the IP game, with Indonesia's health at stake."
I'd be pissed too if i was indonesia.
Is this article written for scientific morons?

OK, bad example.
Dear Mr Warren Spector
Please die in a fire.
Thanks,

I thought that was only economic utopia, not reachable in the real world.
Ptah, passing savings on to customers? as if!

Why, I think its the smell of an impending minority shareholder lawsuit.
Hmm. Smells suspisiously like feces, too.

....FUCKING THING!
*BEEEP* you said bar, you may want to check out Punters pub, tonight we have free chicken wings! *BEEEP*

And we all know how THAT turned out.

NO MORE TIME TRAVEL!
Seriously, time travel episodes are really silly. And over done. A lot.
Did i mention they were over done?
Well, it did. Sorry. The concept was good, but the execution fell flat. Building your lair and hiring goons was cool and all, but that seemed to be the end of it.
