It may sound like a stupid defense but honestly some people out there just didn't/still don't know that sharing certain (copyrighted) files is wrong.
About 5 years ago (from what I've heard as this was before my time) someone at my company was selling DVDs to co-workers and made some statement via an email to everyone in the company that it wasn't a problem if he ran out as he'd just make some more. He truly had no idea that what he was doing was illegal until the legal department and the IT department blasted him.
No one reads the FBI warnings at the beginning of films (and music doesn't really have one of those) so ignorance really is valid point one could make.
I was thinking this exact same thing. The original Wing Commander would be great or even the Wing Commander: Privateer. Now that I think about it Privateer would be a pretty bitching MMO too.
I'd rather my plane not blow up or get hi-jacked. If that means someone needs to get searched then so be it. Planes are private property - if you don't like it don't fly on it. You can always drive to your destination, or take a boat ride.
Yes...they are private property. So WTF is the federal government doing getting their noses involved?
Finally, why didn't he just convert the cash to a money order or cashiers check?
Well the article states that he was returning from a Campaign for Liberty event with the ticket sales, concessions, etc. so maybe he didn't have time to convert it to anything else.
We know what people DID before piracy and that was not see the film, hear the music, or play the game.
But the converse of the argument is that everyone is still subjected to the wanton product placements and blatant advertising in products these days. Producers of these things should still be happy that they're getting advertising revenue from these products because even though piracy may take a meager sum from them they probably made most of that back by shoving products down everyone's throats both users and pirates alike.
Sure it's not really much of a problem for the home user but for the businessman/government worker who travels and leaves his laptop or has it stolen this means that the data on that machine will be compromised.
Give the children vouchers so they can go to better schools and learn about technology as they need it through life in the better opportunities that they'll have from not being forced into the government monopolized system?
Yeah. You can but currently there's no real good way to do it. You can either download the app via computer and put in on your SD card or when you download it from the phone there's 1 step where you can choose to move it to the SD card.
Well basically the quirks are small things. Like there's currently no way to manage where applications are stored. There's 1 way to do it but it's not intuitive. So there needs to be an app made to handle that.
I haven't really found a way to manage the SIM card information either. Getting all of my contacts was easy but I have no idea how to save a new contact to the SIM card. Again this is probably a simple new application that can be made but it's just not there now.
But I do love it and it really is pretty intuitive overall.
I pre-ordered my G1 and I love it. It's a marriage of a Blackberry and the iPhone and while it's true that there are some differences and a few quirks at first...you get over them real quick. It really is pretty easy to use.
I've started playing with the SDK too and they have it integrated nicely with Eclipse and it's really a very nice set up.
I like Linux and have a distro on my box (dual boot) and I know lots of people who do most of their computing in Linux. But when they game they just face the music and load Windows because that's where it's most accessible.
Maybe after Linux breaks the business barrier more developers will think about it as more than just an afterthought but until then it really is a silly idea.
Basically, they created the ultimate MMO gateway drug. Totally spot on. I've always been in RPGs and people I know who hated the genre got into WoW and were playing religiously. Personally I never enjoyed it that much because of the reasons you stated.
Hopefully you're right and with the demise of WoW we'll see more interesting MMORPGs that have the same draw of the number of people that made WoW worth playing.
Interesting. I was thinking first to file would favor but patent trolls but your explanation makes sense to me.
Agreed. Probably should have written "illegal" instead of "wrong".

Possibly...anyone know of a mirror? I'd actually like to RTFA for once.
Right? Didn't anyone watch Superman 4?

That's not true at all.
We know what people DID before piracy and that was not see the film, hear the music, or play the game.

Amen
I was thinking that same thing.

That's what I thought of too! "What the hell is the 'regular B.C. operating system'?"
Then I realized that the cops are just retarded apparently and couldn't take the time to figure out what they were writing about.
...anything they don't like they describe as a misconduct and levy the "appropriate" discipline without any chance of discussion.

I'm a big fan.
How would it tell my Civic from the millions of other Civics?
The parent said
Combine this data with the camera images and you can also identify that vehicle.
Bit of a stretch I think but maybe not far off.
Good point.

Holy Crap yes!!! I wish I had mod points.
I feel the same way. If I want content like that I'll read fark or digg.
Besides...the only times that I've been to idle they've had stories that were already featured on other websites.
Hate to nitpick but Granny isn't trained in Kung Fu.

Well if God kills a kitten every time I...uh...yeah...then I guess I'm killing the kittens.
but now I can't wait to have kids!
