I guess, another way to state my point is that there are already many excelent games with the current hardware. Game developers will build around what is available to them. Ok, so that one game only has 32 levels of shading instead of 2^20 level or they can only include so many AI objects in the background. Adding that stuff doesn't make the game better. Sometimes i think adding too much has detracted from games sometimes. It's not really what the capability of the console is, it's how well the developer uses it.
In the end, will it really matter that the new Cpus are only twice as powerful as the old ones? Just how much power does it need? Won't the quality of the games be more important to the sucess of the console than how much "processing juice" they drink?
while i expect that intel probably has done soem anti-competative acts, the one argument that can make is a matter of production capabilities. AMD, simply can't produce as many CPus as Intel can. they coudl argue that this is the main reason for companies pickign Intel.
Interesting, but not surprising. the desicion was about the fact that Grokster and Streamcast was encouraging infringement, not just selling a product used for it. They also didn't make a final ruling, just sent the case back to be retried.
except that the law suits have been losing them money... why? cause the people they are suing, don't have enough to make them profitable (12 year old girls and all).
take 535 parts people who are largely technology ignorant and in need of money for re-elections...
take 2 easily "convinced" people, one in either party*
take 5 organizations with lots of money and lawyers...
mix and get an endless slew of consumder unfriendly laws.
How're parents supposed to watch over their child if they're denied the tools needed for it?
how are they denied the tools? aren't there already web filtering tools available for parents? i've never used them, since i don't have children, but as i understand it there are already tools that can control what websites can be accessed at what times, by which users correct?
essentially, what this law does is deny those web filtering companies business, by forcing the ISP to take over that bussiness. if parents want this, they can go buy the product.
also, creating a blacklist is near useless cause there will always be new site constantly poping up. this is the most prolific industry on the internet.. a better way woudl be to have a whitelist of known safe sites and let each parrent add to the list as they deem appropriate. this might actually force parents to spend time with their chilren and learn what their children are doing on the internet, but we can't have that now can we?
overal, i see this type of law and a conflict in the party. we have social conservative fundimentalists whihc have been flocking greatly toward the republican party vs. the traditional free market repblican ideas... this is one case, where i hope the later wins.
I wonder how many people are going to think this is some sort of threat to 'national security.'
Probably only homeland security, the state department, and the president. in other words, no one that knows anythign abotu national security *smirk*
What we have here is a two way slippery slope. Mathematically it is hard to envision but the idea is that we get an unstable condition in both directions
Technically, it woudl be an "icy Hill." You forgot the "slipery" part.
It won't matter. IF they really want to sue, they will do it, regardless of the validity of the law or not. If they put enough money and legal blocks, BT will "lose" the case, just because they won't have enough money to defend itself. This will shortly be followed by the AA's parading abotu how they've destroyed another source of priacy that was responsible for millions in losses and people on/. shouting "down withthe man!"
iTunes for Windows doesn't support OGG. That automatically disqualified it, because i was ripping my CDs in OGG for a while.
I do like the interface, but i wish it also had a minimalist interface that was as small as soem of the winamp skins.
that is true, opera does have many things already built in, but not everything. perhaps a few niche users cling onto specific extentions, but there are several of them.
for home use, i agree that diversifitcation is good, but when we are talking mobile, i was to carry as a few things as i can. it this means i don't need to cary a PDA and an image storage device, that works great for me.
i defiantely would not mind a palm solution that had a media manager type solution.. where this unit falls short is that it's not enough. needs bigger HD better battery life.. and a CF card slot. of course, i am a niche market... i doubt most PDA users might take a few GB worth of photos in one day.

i think i would have been more entertained trying to punch the bouncing monkey...
he must have meant "Bizaro-World Slashdot.org," where every post is thoughtful, informative, and genuinely funny.
~$40 for the 5th edition Hero Systems rule book... make what you want, when you want, how you want it.. w/o stupid law suit threats from Marvel.
well, technically Lotus 123 will still run on Widnows (even if no one choses to use it), so Windows is not finished yet .)
The final production testing is done by two skilled female technicians who test in tandem.

i kind of admired it the first couple times they did it.. now it's just old tricks...
They should auction them off on ebay, i'm sure they could get at least 10c
Well, that's been Sony's problem fromt eh begining, great technology hampered by a desire to lcok it... Beta Max, Mini Disc, Memory Sticks... bah...
