...to steal the factory installed DVD system than they are to grab the two iPads in your back seat.
Maybe one day Apple will develop an iPad which is portable so that it can be removed from the vehicle? One can only hope!
The great thing about that is that portability is tied into the unit. It cannot be moved from an iPad, to a home PC, for example. It is the ultimate DRM!
And this is somebody else's site. This is where people go for information, and part of that information is that you can get banned from a site for mentioning ad-block. So, if they can censor their site, then we can go to "our site" and discuss how that's a shitty thing to do.
Thanks for clarifying. I knew that no court in the US would agree with my original comment, but wondered if there was any reason other than "c'mon, That's ridiculous!" that would explain why.
Or maybe it's people who are fed up with an unhealthy society and having to pay for the mistakes of idiots who ruin their bodies with no regards to the larger picture.
So get rid of the nanny/welfare state that tries to take care of us from cradle to grave and force people to live with the consequences of their choices. Problem solved.
Yes. Run the US like a third world country and that will make everybody happy...Except for the people who base their happiness on something other than adherence to an Ayn Rand novel.
So, wouldn't it be an act of fraud to sign a contract, if you know it isn't legally binding? If this is the case, then how is it legal for children to play video games?
If it is a contract, it should be treated like one. The store should have a table and chair where you can sit down with an employee who is trained and ready to go over the entire thing, clarifying any questions you may have. If, after reading every detail, and initialing passages to show that you have read them, then you can have your used copy of "Grand Theft Auto: Fargo" or whatever crappy game your selling your soul for this week.
Or the company can choose to scale the complexity of the contract down to the seriousness of the transaction.
I don't know if you're being sarcastic, but the problem there is that deadlines have to be met, regardless of whether you are allowed to work on your project. I am currently finishing a major project where development slowed to a crawl because of daily meetings, side projects, and changing requirements. It was incredibly frustrating to spend two hours talking about what needs to be done, and then spend the remainder of the day fighting to free up one to two hours in which to actually do the work.
My favorite is "password may be no longer than X characters" - why arbitrarily limit the length of them? It's especially great when X is something small like 4 (pin #s) or 8.
I have seen that done by dial-up ISPs (AOL, Walmart connect, etc). I often wonder if it's purpose isn't to reduce the number of password resets.
This guy seems to be a true believer, however. This sounds eerily like the "teach the controversy" issue with creationists. He cannot find evidence strong enough to convince the scientific community, so he is wanting to take his case directly to the public, where it will be viewed with a more credulous eye.
That works in Firefox, Safari, and Opera. Try it in IE and it shows up as

Screw up with your customers data, and the worst that happens is you get a PR black eye, or you lose money. Don't follow regulations and unless you've got a Congressman in your pocket, you can go to jail.
Agreed. What statistics should they be showing to make "obey the law" a priority? And what part of this summary shows that it is currently too much of one?
canada is near the north pole, while the usa is closer to the south pole. the more south you go in the usa in fact, the more conservative the opinion
so clearly north pole=liberal, south pole=conservative
so i will now invent my colossal magnetic northern monopole, hide it in an office tower in dallas texas, and forever alter politics towards the forces of reason and morality! and screw up navigation compasses everywhere!
Or you could just encourage Southerners to read more </ducks>
"I once saw Battlefield Earth at a gas station for a dollar...but they had blank VHS tapes for $2. That means that, by copying Battlefield Earth onto a VHS tape, your are reducing its' value by one dollar."
But what about denying Clark's hypothetical people the choice, simply because we hope that their suffering will lead them to do something that benefits us? How wrong is that?
Refusing to fill out the Census is ridiculous. It is in your own best interest to let the local and national govt. know as much about the people they represent as possible. If they don't know facts about, say, the social and financial background of their constituents, how can they govern effectively?
To give a hypothetical example, it would be like if you were a neilsen family but refused to fill out info about the tv shows that you liked and then complained when they got canceled.
Not it's not. When I go to vote, my answer to every question is a write-in: "none of your business". I then complete my vote by writing "down with socialized law enforcement", and urinating on the voting machine.

But Fringe can tell you exactly how long before the show comes back on. That's very helpful for people who won't be watching the ads.

I have an idea. Email an MP3 version of Metallica's "St Anger" to them, and let the RIAA do it for you.

And considering only your post history, here you are almost every day anyway. Must such having no life, eh?
No, after a while you get used to it.
That only applies to DMV and cable company employees.
It had some good AI actually built into it to understand my questions. I think they actually unified two branches of AI to create it.
"Index search" and "random number generation"?
I keep forgetting to ignore Slashdot today.
I keep trying to ignore it most days.

You could include one of these with it.
Presumably, if you had physical access to the drive, wouldn't you have more time to crack it than two hours?
Exactly. You have 24 before Keifer Southerland kicks your ass.

Paraphrased from an old Conan O'Brien monologue
Bacon and sausage are not "full of sugar".

That'll show 'em to ask questions about me!
