Programmers like Mac's because they are *nix (BSD) based with Apple's GUI affixed. OS X has more in common with Android than iOS since they both incorporate an open kernel and the CLI is accessible. iOS may use the same base as OS X but without jailbreaking you aint touching it. OS X is also less than 10% of Apple's revenue. The question was what is the allure of Apple products so clearly they were referring to the iPhone which makes up over 60% of Apples revenue. And those programmers are just as likely to be running Linux/BSD/Windows (OK maybe not Windows) on that Mac as OS X. All that said. Being a programmer doesn't automatically make you a techie.
Technology at its face is complicated. Sure once you learn its intricacies it's not so hard to follow its ebb and flow. Jobs had his programmers obfuscate the underlying technology such that the average person could just go about using the device without knowing anything about how the device worked. So people use Apple products because it hides the "hard" stuff and lets you do the fun stuff. It's also the reason techs tend to dislike them. The obfuscation goes beyond hiding into locking down features that can be useful if you know what you're doing. With Jobs gone and his ideals within the company all but faded we are starting to see cracks. If Apple strays from the simple but complicated mantra too far they'll lose their audience.
AFAIK 5G still isn't official so building a "true" 5G network would need to wait until we know what one is. It aint even scheduled to be ratified until 2020!
I don't even see p2p as an advantage over Netflix. Netflix has it's own CDN (Content Delivery Network) on just about every ISP's last mile so there isn't a bottleneck coming from Netflix. With p2p you could be pulling data from anywhere on earth depending on how many sources are available.
Did this ever get advertised anywhere? I have never heard of it. I suspect it was covered at/. but I guess I missed it. It's hard to grow a business if your target demographic doesn't know about it.
I have a long time friend who has been harping on the benefits of a low carb, high fat (LCHF) diet for over a year now. As skeptical as I am I dismissed him since he was selling a product that purported to induce ketosis (when the brain switches from sugar/carb for fuel to fats). After watching friend after friend start losing weight and proclaiming how much better they feel now I decided it was at least worth trying. That was a little over a month ago and I have lost 20 lbs. But even if I hadn't lost a single pound I would stick to this new lifestyle. The mental clarity and increased energy is amazing. And I haven't slept this well in years! I highly recommend it. The science behind it is solid and contradicts what we've been told for decades. Hopefully more doctors will do their due diligence and start helping their patients make the switch.
Coal is no longer economically advantageous and the market is switching to sources that are. The cost per kWh for wind and solar have plummeted so much in the last couple of years they are now cheaper than nuclear which had for decades been the cheapest "clean" energy source. Many nuclear facilities are now being aged out and plans to build new facilities have dropped. Add to that energy storage technology has also come down in cost per kWh so those solar arrays can be used to generate power for overnight and coal becomes downright expensive. Sometimes capitalism can cause the right thing to happen in spite of itself.
Your father... was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force. He ceased to be the Jedi Anakin Skywalker and "became" Darth Vader. When that happened, the good man who was your father was destroyed. So, what I told you was true... from a certain point of view.
As long as humans have agendas and perceptions there will continue to be "fake" (from a certain point of view) news. And crowdsourcing the data will only muddle the results not correct them.
I say what I mean. Anyone who goes into an OSS project expecting to get paid is a fool. XBMC was a cool project to make an outdated console a useful tool again. Nobody expected it to morph into the extraordinary Swiss Army Knife media center it has become. But it couldn't have done that without skirting the **IA's regs and making it useful to a wide range of interests. Now they want to add some of the tools of the industry that shunned them. As long as they don't remove the features that their users demand that shouldn't be an issue. But we know for them to add those features the "Bosses" will demand a tribute.
This seems to happen whenever an OSS project goes mainstream and someone decides they want to be "respected" by the evil jerks who created the situation that led to the OSS project being created in the first place. If they create addons with DRM they will have to be binary only and separate from KODI itself since KODI is GPL2. That said KODI even points you to forks should you dislike their new direction
The actual statistic from reputable sources is 4-7% And even those sources can't explain the reasoning because there are so many variables.
If your interested, a good breakdown of why the gender gap statistic is specious.
It was Disney (80% owner of ESPN) who did the strong arming of cable companies. They managed to get all cable/sat companies to carry ALL ESPN channels by refusing to license just The Disney Channel. To get The Disney Channel they required the license of the ESPN package as well. And it had to be in the basic/economy tier of service. So while the cable companies are evil, greedy SOB's Disney helped jack up the price of your cable plan just as much. Perhaps Disney has a long term contract with their cable customer (TW, Comcast, et al) and won't be affected for several years.
Do you have an iPic theater near you? Drafthouse to me is a little noisy with the wait staff constantly shuffling. I prefer going to iPic if I am going to a theater. You can reserve your seat weeks in advance.
True Dat!
I tried installing Skype for Business but no matter what I try it won't run.

Apple did just gut their affiliate program.

Are you CRAZY? Usenet isn't secure at all. Gopher is where it's at!
Actually many companies, state, and local governments do just that.
I Know Right!
At least state governments aren't running that crap. They're all on IBM's much more robust OS/2 Warp. You think I'm kidding...I'm not.

Actually Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Galveston are all suburbs of Houston.

So you are advocating for "A Taste Of Armageddon" then.
Groovy Baby!
But they take hours to search for the lowest fare
I'm betting they name the device the Microsoft Zunebook!
* Actually, there's no free HC lunch
You're right! She charges $200,000 a plate.
If it works for McClaren's F1 Team it's good enough for you!

They need to be working on real problems like how to make chickens taste like bacon!
