100% agree.
The security of a BES/BB combination cannot be equaled by any current handset/OS (Unless the NSA/CIA/etc. have a secret one nobody knows about). If you must use Android then RIM has a solution for that as well.
hp could have made WebOS work had they stuck to their guns...they turned and ran after a month just like they always have when profits weren't forthcoming.
Considering a member of Apple's board of directors still uses a BlackBerry I'd say the platform is decent enough and BB OS Ten looks to be hitting all the right chords except timeliness.
Their mobile email client is absolutely the best.
I believe you meant to say their mobile ecosystem. Their email client is good but without the RIM infrastructure it would be just another email client.
I want RIM to succeed and I still believe they can but they must execute the rollout of BB OS Ten flawlessly and convince a lot of demographics what they have to offer has value beyond an iOS/Android/WP ecosystem. A very tall order but far from impossible.
In Canada and Alaska ice roads are very real in the winter. I have learned quite a lot about them from the History Channel's Ice Road Truckers over the past several seasons. It's amazing to me that in some places the ice can hold over 2 tons.
"This is really about a fundamental scientific breakthrough, many Eureka moments that (Holz) stumbled through over four or five years of research."
Considering that when I think of a Eureka moment it generally includes some variant of an "end of the world" scenario that sheriff Carter will miraculously albeit precariously save us from I'm not sure I want one of these in every household.
According to this article diesel is expensive and electric is expensive making the resulting hybrid REALLY expensive. If you still want one it looks like the Peugot they reference is a go although not in the US.
If you truly want to go the diesel/electric route you could order this kit and build a striking auto (technically a 3 wheel motorcycle) that gets over 200 miles to the gallon. And at ~$20,000 for the build it is still economical. I just wish they would have followed through with their plans to manufacture and sell these bad boys!
QNX is the OS of choice for many auto manufacturers for their in dash hardware. Since BB 10 is QNX with a new GUI layer (Kinda reminiscent of another OS X product and its BSD/OpenStep heritage) doesn't that just seem like a logical evolutionary step?
I wonder why there isn't more public transport going on here as the "Driving Under the Influence" laws get worse and worse.
there is plenty of public transport here (if by here you mean the US) it is just that here is a MUCH larger land mass (than the UK) and we're spread out all over the place. The US has a nationwide railway system similar to Europes for transcontinental travel but it isn't used much for passenger transport anymore which might be partially explained by this article
I provided an answer based on my expertise. You are belittling me for even trying and now I'm a troll for offering what little knowledge I have on the subject. sad
The summary is asking the wrong question. It's not whether piracy prevents blockbusters. It's how much does piracy reduce the box office receipts of new releases.
That's not even the right question because the answer is inconsequential. The real question is how do bootlegs affect BD/DVD/VOD sales/rentals. I go to the theater to get the full effect. I only go to the theater for movies I truly want to see. I knew 2 years ago I was going to go to the theater to see The Avengers. For all of the "I'd like to see it if..." titles I can wait and see them at home. That's where a bootleg would cut into sales and where I'd like to see the numbers. I'd say in the US it's still close to the 0.5% cited as even the cheapskates are still gonna go for the $1/$2 Red Box over a bootleg in most cases. In other countries I'm sure it is quite high but here again that is perpetuated by the fact that the movies generally aren't available in those countries at launch which frustrates consumers and drives them to a bootleg.

Coca Cola and Pepsi Co. must have slipped up and forgot the mayors monthly stipend.
Is the guys name Soong?

"Oh noes, GW will ${bad things}", and having no real data simply default to "${bad things} = bad so GW is bad" logic.
I think that is the equation the left has been using for the last four or more years. Of course they say it a little different- "It's Bush's fault".
Flash is going away,
Flash is the new IE6. Ten years from now corporations will still be clinging to it while everyone else is running HTML17.

They're more than a dime a dozen but at $49 for a 7" touchscreen it's hard to ignore them as an option for this project.
That would indeed be interesting as both Microsoft's Windows and Apple's OS X derived some of their code from BSD.
The internet is MAKING the people depressed!
Funny, I first gleaned "Moon Methadone Meets Casino" and wondered what Zappa did.
Why YES I believe they are.

The hp R&D division is alive and well...It just isn't a part of hp anymore
Second the MOTOACTV if it's a gadget timepiece your after.
If you're not in a hurry there is always the Pebble
And if you want a cheaper alternative we have Sony's offering. It says it is running Android but CMW seems to have debunked that claim.
That said I also believe as others here have stated that your watch is more about style and status
THIS!
"Please...sir, if you stop yelling at me long enough I can explain to you why yelling at the computer guy will not get your internet fixed..."
You mean they don't all use MATLAB like this guy?
He probably just wanted to avoid getting sued by Oracle for referencing it correctly.
it can certainly be better, but with the monetary and time restraints you can not argue with the final result!
This is /. We can argue about anything...like the use of contractions or garamond is superior to times new roman.
Watch...I'll get numerous replies telling me I'm an idiot for even suggesting garamond is a usable font.
