If you want to do PCB design, do yourself a favour and get a display with a minimum resolution of 1280x800.
You need the vertical space for layouts and design. If you can get a higher resolution display, go for it, as it makes it WAAAAY easier for design.
Also, see if you can borrow a netbook from someone to try for a few days. I find them infuriatingly sluggish, even with a fresh install of Windows XP or linux.
You can get good value laptops now for not a huge amount more money than a netbook.
If you have to go for a netbook, get an nVidia ion based netbook, preferably with a dual core atom, like the N330, as you will see way better performance from it.
I would thoroughly recommend the three UK MiFi modem, if you have an iPhone or smartphone with wifi capability, then you can get data access on the go without being ripped off.
But you could also argue the fact that nearly as much energy was wasted conducting the survey and then it getting posted to/., then having all those people read it.
Then I found out how difficult and expensive it actually is to make frewater from seawater. The annual rainfall in the UK is quite high, but it is the water USAGE that is the problem. Too much fresh water is wasted and not enough is done to reduce the loss of fresh water.
I live in Ireland now, and it is not uncommon here to see burst pipes leaking water from inspection covers for a couple of weeks before anything is done about them. Mind you, the summer of 2003 wasn't too bad here, we go into the low 20's for most of it. (Yaaay)
Volatile vapours in confined spaces don't normally take to well to being 'excited' by radio frequencies. Apparently this has happened, but mostly in avaition / radar applications.
I thought luddite meant this: "Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913)" Luddite Lud"dite, n.
One of a number of riotous persons in England, who for six
years (1811-17) tried to prevent the use of labor-saving
machinery by breaking it, burning factories, etc.; -- so
called from Ned Lud, a half-witted man who some years
previously had broken stocking frames. --J. & H. Smith. H.
Martineau.
I would think that privacy advocates were the complete opposite of this, as they use technology (cutting edge at that) to protect their privacy.
It is the 'luddites' that are trying to break down that privacy as they are afriad of the 'repercussions' of a new technology, and of people baing able to do something that is a natural right.
What next, will they require all houses to be made of glass?

The details are here:
http://www.three.co.uk/Mobile_Broadband/MiFi
Get the basic top-up which includes 3GB.
Once you are finished with it, sell it on ebay, or try to get it unlocked.
I have one for when I travel to the UK for work, and I have only had it out of coverage once.
Phil
And it started out a billion years ago much further away...
Really? Wow. I must be doing something wrong as well. Can you detail your setup a bit?
Well, of course it uses energy.
But you could also argue the fact that nearly as much energy was wasted conducting the survey and then it getting posted to /., then having all those people read it.
Sounds like an MS study on linux to me...
Hmm,
Creepy sounding to me.
Reminds me of the Chlorine producing bacteria in Zodiac..
Well, Lego (TM) could be on to a nice earner with this one....
Yeah, pity us then.
In Ireland we get a paltry 3Mb down / 384k up for 40 a month...
I didn't know RedHat was going to buy oracle....... ;)
I think you might call it restraint.
Just because you can afford to buy it, does not mean you have to buy it.
Phil
You could always call the Knocksmith...
Badaboom!
I'll eat my (Red) Hat!
Great, now I can stand on the platform at Three Bridges and get WiFi access for free for a few seco...
I used to think that.

It hss nothing to do with sparks.

Hi Edd,
Yeah, between looking at the cache, and pasting it into the article, I got it mixed up!
I nervously checked your site this morning hoping it was still up!
I think you want:

Well, look no further than:
Multisync @ Sourceforge
Works great with my T68 and evolution.
Phil
Now if you could move its legs or its wings, that would be worth posting!
Well, have a look at http://opencores.org/ Iamgine the possibilities!
It is not an ARM based chip. It is a PowerPC based chip. We will have to wait and see on the power issue....
You can also sync the T68i with evolution thanks to multisync:
http://multisync.sourceforge.net/
Have you seen the weather here?
It will be saturated before it gets here!
Check http://www.met.ie/
Phil
At least then you can use it as a phone as well. Also you can sort of send text messages to the phone as well, but not the other way round.
Expensive initially, but has more uses.
