Actually, I think no-content retorts are more common, as they allow cowards the ability to get a "I know you are but what am I" post in without subjecting themselves to the horror of being proven wrong in an anonymous online forum that is of no real importance.
Actually, its the same as saying "Since you bought a game rated for mature people, you have no right to complain about foul language".
Yes, that's what it's literally saying. I'm taking the analogy and extending to an absurd extreme, which shows its flaw.
Here's another statement analogous to the OP: If I watch a movie that deals with hate crimes, do I lose my right to be offended by hate crimes? Of course not! The fact that one uses or experiences media that deals with a certain subject or content does not mean that they endorse or approve of that subject or content. It also does not mean that a person loses the "right" to complain or have a certain viewpoint about the subject or content.
It sounds to me like you have "wi-fi" and "online gaming access" mixed up. Nintendo's online plan for the DS is to use the built-in Wi-fi capabilities of the machine to connect to their online service. They aren't going to charge people who connect to the online services for first-party games. If they provided "free wi-fi", it would be the big N running around creating access points.
Well, at least it's still better than the PS3 controller. No, but seriously, think of what's been done with the DS. This will likely lead to similar things.
It's as if a million Sony fanboys attempted to cry out...but had already been silenced.
Ya know, I'd love for Square to redo VII and just kill all the sacred cows that fanboys have about the game (and the series). I guess it's the asshole in me, as I've never played through the whole game (I probably should someday). I just think it's put on such a pedastal as the "ultimate RPG" (console style, anyway) and I don't know if it really deserves it.
PS: I'm not trolling here, these are just my off-the-cuff thoughts. Don't take this comment seriously, it's not meant to be a critique of FF/Square/gaming/fanboys/etc.
I'm not defending this interface. I just don't like it when all the windows use virtually identical icons and stuff (I'm thinking of KDE for some reason)
Apple who... said that every app look, feel and behave consistently. It made sense too.
While I hate crappily-useable programs as much as anybody else, I find it useful when apps are distinguishable from each other. It's frustrating when you have six windows open and you need to read the titlebars to find the one you want.
Gaming aside, I can't think of a single thing Windows does better than OSX.
I can:
-Hassling you about security settings that should be taken care of by the OS. -Forcing the download of new anti-piracy measures every few months that are cracked overnight. -Changing settings whenever it feels like it. -Forcing power-users to download tons of basic utilities because the supplied ones are crap.
Well, their (in your opinion) decadence certainly excuses you from all moral responsibility. I find it interesting how many anti-liberal people there are, who talk about how "liberals" are so hypocritical and have bad moral values, yet the people who say these things can only spew hate and contradictions.
The idea that since Nintendogs, a very well made pet simulator, has sold 250,000 copies in a week, somehow contradicts the notion that western gamers are tending towards more mature titles is inaccurate.
OK seriously, this sentence is a monstrosity. If you want people to grok your point, leaving out unnecessary data is usually a good idea. Onto the "actual" points you make...
various sales data
I like how this anecdotal evidence is an attempt to "disprove" Nintendogs is doing well. For one thing, you need to take into account the installed base of the systems of these stated games at the time of release. Also, three of the four games you mention are sequels. They are also sequels to the most popular videogame series right now. Remember how many units SMB3 moved? It's the same thing here.
Also, check out today's news post at Penny-Arcade (Sep. 2, 2005). I find it interesting that Tycho notes nearly all handhelds seen at PAX were of the DS persuasion. But no, that can't be possible! Nintendo is the kiddie company! I know this because Sony and Microsoft said so, so it has to be true!
Um, we're talking about "Services for UNIX" and OS design here. Having a "consistent, backwards-compatible" graphics API is not the most critical thing server administrators/server software developers care about.
Your kids can graduate as Valedictorian or top 10% with relative ease
Umm, BZZT WRONG! I don't know what rural area you lived in, but the high school I went to was the opposite. We had many smart kids in a class of ~55, and it was very difficult.
Yeah, this is what I hated when I bought my first Wintel computer (win98se). I was used to the old Mac I had used before, where I knew what combinations of software to not run at the same time.

If the game is rated M then who has the right to complain?
This is the same as saying "since you play fighting games, you have no right to complain when I punch you in the face". It doesn't follow.
Brooks' Law:

(Yeah, yeah, it's a "re-organization". Call it whatever makes you feel better.)
They are indepsensible, but adding too much makes things unmanageable.
Sounds like Perl.
What ever happened to Novell? I used that at the college I attended - web apps, email, directory, rempote access, etc.
It's used at my college as well. Of course, now we're using stuff like Moodle as well (which rules, btw).
You can't improve on perfection.
Michael Jackson reportedly plunked down $75.62 to install a Slurpee machine at Neverland Ranch.
I'd pay that much for one...

You win.
I read the summary as ".30 per litter".

I pray to God every night that this does not become a widespread buzzword.

...the number of times you've thrown an XBOX...
My chiropractor could tell you.
IBM very well may just stick with the last version of source released under SISSL for Workplace.
I dunno, IBM could just use the provisions of the LGPL and distribute their "secret sauce" as binary.

And the weather? It gets very cold in the Winter (down around 0 is not unusual)
If by winter you mean October, then yeah, that would be "very cold". Otherwise...no.

Win95 was randomly-unstable
Yeah, this is what I hated when I bought my first Wintel computer (win98se). I was used to the old Mac I had used before, where I knew what combinations of software to not run at the same time.
