    agreed. to me, it all sounds like made up bullshit that can be summarized into three main points:

    1. comment on what you're doing in your code.

    2. don't put in anything except what you need to get the job done for that function.

    3. assume the user / caller is an idiot and compensate.

    I still say the ultimate goal is to dump video over a special dock and send a 5.1 ch audio feed over the APE's optical out.

    no. i believe the code morphing is done at a layer that is completely invisible to the OS. if transmeta ripped this out, they'd just be releasing another core with a non-X86 ISA (just like PPC, SPARC, MIPS, Alpha, Itanium, PA-RISC, or any one of the other non-x86 chips / cores out there).

    well, I think once Q3A comes out as OSS we'll see a lot more homebrew games spin off, so that list will grow exponentially afterwards.

    Quake 3 will be more of a toolkit for future homebrew / OSS games than a worthwhile OSS game itself. IIRC, id Software usually releases the engine, but not the media.

    gigabyte was effectively defined as 2^30 well before some fucking "standards" body decided to go the route of HDD makers.

    i say screw 'em. a GB will be 2^30 always to me...just like a MB will be 2^20 and a KB = 2^10.
