Amen. Hell...an AMD64 laptop would make a decent SOHO server...integrated KVM *and* UPS too.
I thought about going that route for my next server upgrade, but I think a dual opteron with 2 GB RAM can handle doom 3, mythtv, and apache at the same time. And that would mean one less system to manage (and one less heat producing setup in my room).
Suicide is against the law...whoop-de-frickin-do...what are they really gonna do if you succeed? And if you don't, you probably didn't break the law, since you're still alive.
Why should MS embed the insecure services ontop of yet another perfectly good kernel? If anything, they should keep the NT / VMS kernel and bolt something more secure on top...not the other way around.
I tried it and I don't remember getting it to actually run..it would whine about no swap file and the error box about no swapfile would basically quit the prog
It also kills people trying to send e-mail from places they don't have control over the reverse dns of. I have a domain that I send mail from, but since I'm operating at the good graces of my college admins, I consider myself lucky to be running the box...and am not even going to ask for reverse DNS.
It's not really transparent. Try putting a "transparent" Konsole window in front of a Konqueror window...you'll find that Konsole is just using a screenshot of the desktop background.
Well, I have a 2U server with 80 GB of disk space. Since I own it, I haven't imposed a quota on myself. Since it does e-mail, doesn't that mean I have an 80 GB inbox?

I saw a SGI Indy used to show some "satellite imagery" in one once.
as a cat owner (and therefore someone skilled in the art of cat exercising), I must say that it seemed non-obvious to me =P
well, at the time of the disabling of the box, you presumably haven't committed a crime (unless disabling the box is illegal)
what about the "federal marshals simply take control of your facilities and stop you through force" part?
sure...go right ahead and kill it all. but expect me to get pissed if my taxes don't fall in return.

Yes, I saw the BBSpot blurb =P

So when did the NSA move to Redmond, WA?
Wait...you got Photoshop to actually RUN?
I tried it and I don't remember getting it to actually run..it would whine about no swap file and the error box about no swapfile would basically quit the prog
What about Coruscant?
That'd be cool as hell...kilometers of city stacked upon itself...
Well, if Akamai is down, then there would be nothing to see most places, wouldn't there? :P

On the other end of a slashdotted page, "We can't do it, Captain! She hasn't got the power!"

Not all of us have upstream providers that let BT run...and not all of us can change upstream providers either...

I'm from there. You don't have to worry. That's the end of the line.
Is prostitution (where legal) in Nevada charged a sales tax...or is it a use tax?
No..you don't run...you come back at 3x the price as a "consultant."
Mwahahahahaha
As the Despair Inc. poster says, "Consulting: If you're not a part of the solution, there's good money to be made in prolonging the problem."
Does it matter?
The FHS is why UNIX seems so cryptic to a lot of people I know.
I think it needs to be done away with.
