One of the major arguments around open source software is the question of "free speech or free beer". The distinction is frequently drawn by using the words libre to indicate the freedom of action in OSS (e.g. to distribute modified copies) and gratis to indicate freedom from cost.
LSS is very much libre. Users of LSS packages are free to distribute copies without reference to the authors, make modifications and distribute the modified copies. They may even execute the software without charge, provided that they do it for a purpose for which the authors do not require payment, and the definition of LSS ensures that any LSS package can be executed for experimental purposes. However LSS is not always gratis. Some uses of the software will require payment.
The word "liberal" is derived from "libre". It denotes freedom of action. Hence "Liberal Source Software". The source is available, and you can do what you like with it.
Many may laugh at this but I think Star Trek has had a big influence on Science, Many Ideas have been models after these books and TV Shows. I.E. Ebooks.

Another potential way to crash a program or violate security is to dereference a dangling pointer---a pointer to storage that has been deallocated. These are particularly insidious bugs because the error might not manifest itself immediately.The way that Cyclone fixes this is by assigning each object a symbolic region that corresponds to the lexical block in which the object is declared, and each pointer type reflects the region into which a pointer points.

KDE 3 provides a database-independent API for accessing SQL databases. It provides support for ODBC as well as direct support for Oracle, PostgreSQL and MySQL databases (custom drivers may be added as well). I am really looking forward to this feature, as I am a SQL junkie. If I could backend everything to a SQL database I would.
Audiovox Communications Corporation Wednesday unveiled a GPS-enabled third-generation (3G) wireless handset that incorporates Bluetooth technology.It includes a Web browser and supports Short Message Service (SMS) messaging.
The company said it would release the device in conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show in January. The handset will retail for $299.
Hazards incurred by gasoline releases are greater than those of methanol releases, and will persist much longer in the environment.A recent study performed by EA Engineering examined what the costs would be to implement different methanol retail systems. They concluded that a new methanol retail system could be installed for approximately $70,000 and an existing gasoline tank could be cleaned, the pumps and plumbing replaced for as little as $19,000.
This concept is will be very hard to market to the consumer. With out a definitive way to give a chip a speed classification consumers won't know what is better or worse. The way I understand it if you give it more power it goes faster, thats on some clockless chips. So I guess that could be the speed classification number.
