yeah, you're absolutely right. a full-service IT firm should take care of that. i think i was just trying to say that the company you're dealing with probably has tech people working as managers and they don't want to deal with simple problems, or deal with hiring people to do it.
and you're probably right to look for another vendor. there's a point where any growing company has to get their act together and decide what exactly they're offering.
i suspect they're deliberately pricing themselves out of the "sure, i'll plug in your monitor onsite" market. if it's easy enough that you could get an intern to do it, you probably should.
if the IT firm has a problem with you doing the simple stuff in house, that's another issue.
i had a girl in my office actually request firefox installed on her machine because she had heard about it. she told me she had never heard of it before and i was able to tell her "well, you remember netscape, right? firefox is what netscape became after microsoft demolished them."
Anyone interested in the depressing aspects of liberation from a death camp should check out a book called King Rat by James Clavell. The work is semi-autobiographical as it features Changi, a POW camp run by the Japanese during WWII, where the author himself had been confined.
When the healthy, grinning troops from the Real World showed up, the prisoners were shattered when they realized just how totally screwed up they were, and how much they had lost in their grueling struggle for existance.
Err, veering somewhat on topic, some of the characters ended their lives in ways you'll remember. It's a fantastic book.
a judge banned a stupid law, but had no legal authority to do so, because judges are expected to uphold the law as it is written.. ok i have no faith in this country left
one part of their argument is that they've received negligible code contributions, so ripping out third-party code doesn't seem like it will be a problem for them.
I think Tophar Grace is an interesting casting choice, because he's got a similar amount of vulnerability/nerdiness as Tobey Maguire, and I can imagine them really playing up the fact that Venom is Spidey's "evil twin," similar in every respect except being quite insane.
Of course, CGI Venom could end up looking like the Hulk. Blech.

Cooking is a synthesis of technical knowledge and aesthetic knowledge. The two are mutually dependent - if you ignore the first one, your food will be ruined half the time, if you ignore the second one, you'll wind up with mass-produced McFood.
i'd say the same thing about creating good computer programs.
The problem with Venus is that it is one of the most hostile environments we've yet to find in our searches. It's hot, it's acidic, and so it's hard on equipment, and it's potential for harboring life is low (given what little we know about the subject).
the most hilarious part of U-571 was the ending credits, where the say the story was loosely based on the exploits of these ships, and proceeded to list 8 ships that all started with HMS, his majesty's ship. american ship names are prefixed with USS.
i started reading the Belkin response to this issue, and for the first few paragraphs i was convinced, thinking "so what if people want parental controls?"
then, he started explaining the "8 hour reminder" feature. that means that people are going to get at least one hijacked page view a DAY from these people. then he explains that you can quite simply turn the feature off by navigating the internal configuration of your evil router and finding some option to check ("it might have different names") and it became obvious how this is a blatent attempt at spamming the home user.
the home user won't be able to shut this off. they'll either subscribe to the service, or they'll be reminded every god damn day about the service that they aren't subscribed to.

isn't part of the writer's job to make the show non-boring?

Still, everyone involved agrees on one thing -- slips in release dates ultimately matter less than shipping an awesome game.

I believe you mean LSD, d-lysergic acid diethylamide also known as acid, and not LCD which commonly refers to a liquid crystal display.
