How would widespread dissemination of knowledge lead to less innovation? The beauty of the internet is that anybody, and I mean anybody, can publish a web page and get their voice heard.
True, a lot of pages tend to end up being ignored, since there are so many out there, but you still have that option.
It used to be that you needed a publisher to sell your book. Now you publish your book yourself and sell it, cutting out the middle man. This is what the RIAA, MPAA, etc. are truly afraid of.
Wow, you mean I get to spend all my time downloading inferior quality audio tracks, burning the cd MYSELF, and I can't even transfer them to a different computer?
Thanks but no thanks. A burned cd from a cd-r drive is nothing compared to the quality of a professionally pressed cd. Plus I get a case and liner notes.
Check out Ascencia Bank. They're the best bank I've ever had, no ATM fees for using ANY atm, your first 50 checks are free, and with direct deposit I've never had a problem. There's also no stupid fees for anything.
I see a lot of comments saying this program or that program isn't available for Linux.
Once software companies start releasing Linux versions of their software, this problem should be reduced. There's no reason Adobe couldn't make a Photoshop for Linux.
As far as games, start hounding game companies until they support Linux. Get enough people to buy the game and they'll have an incentive to release more games.
Ascencia Bank, www.ascenciabank.com, works great with every browser I've tried (Mozilla and Netscape). They also have great free checking, with interest. No ATM fees either.
Juniper Bank, www.juniper.com, works with Mozilla, and they also have a lower interest rate than Capital None. Soon as that card is paid off it's getting cancelled.

You know, if we could get a few hundred thousand linux gamers to say, "I will only buy your game if you release a linux version", would be pretty effective.
There is no reason that games cannot be written for Linux just as they are for Windows. There's just no financial incentive to do so right now.
I guess you're too lazy to put the butts in your pocket and throw them out when you find a trash can, huh?
And you're right, smokers shouldn't have rights. I don't have the right to go into a building and start spraying noxious chemicals, so why should you have the right to foul up everybody else's air?
Sorry, we don't live in a Communist country where the government controls prices. The cable company could charge $500 a month if it wanted, and they wouldn't lose too many customers over it.

Mass is irrelevant. If you drop a bowling ball and an apple off a building, they will hit ground at the same time.
The only thing that would change the terminal velocity of the car would be to change it's aerodynamics.
What all the geeks that want to see linux support from a major hardware compnay need to do is to stop buying anything from Dell, Gateway, etc.
If you are the CTO for a major company, call Dell and tell them you will not support their company until they offer you a true choice in operating systems.
If I ever buy a pre-built computer again, it will be from a company that actually supports Linux, and won't send the price difference to Microsoft.
I swore MS would never get another dime from me, and I meant it.
I actually got sick of thinking up random passwords and wrote a utility to create them automatically.

MP3, or any lossy compression format, really kills the audio quality. If you're going to pay for music, it might as well be in the best format available, which is CD, and DVD-audio in the future.
Most of the time if I really care about the music I will go out and buy the cd. Sometimes you can find uncompressed wav files on gnutella though.
If you read Blizzard's web page, Warcraft 3 isn't supposed to be released until mid 2001.
Wired needs to do a little more research and stop pulling things out of their ass. Not that it matters, I gave up reading them months ago.
Screw MP3. MP+ sounds much better and with a smaller file size. http://www.mpegplus.net. It's not GPL, but the decoder is open source. Or if you're too paranoid about software patents, use Ogg Vorbis.
Speak for yourself. Maybe YOU don't want 400 GB or storage. But I'm sure there's plenty of people that do. Myself, I would buy one in an instant. You could say the same thing about Cable TV. Oh, nobody wants 150 channels, they would never watch them all. Yet there's still plenty of buyers out there.

I would love to live in a world where everybody is an artist. No more megacorps to dictate what gets published and where, or how movies are made.
This is a good thing.
Ever read your EULA? You can't blame MS if anything goes wrong.

So you get a Linux system from IBM. Are you saying that IBM doesn't provide 24/7 support?

And you are confusing wavelength with frequency.
It would make more sense if you said the "period" of a wave, not the length.

Who cares? Is MS gonna chase me down and sue me?

I just got a cell phone last month, and it is GSM based.
I am using Voicestream service with a new Samsung phone, works great.

Go outside, do something. There's more to life than the computer. Most TV is shit any way, so you're not missing much.
Take a vacation, and don't take a cell phone, or pager, or laptop. A vacation is to get away from work, not do work for free.

This and Titan A.E. are the movies I'm really looking forward to this year.
