I got an idea for a law that will solve alot of these problems. It is called the "You Must Spend Time With Your Kids and Teach Them Right From Wrong." bill.
The problem is the people who don't know right from wrong and don't know the difference between the REAL world (and not the one trademarked by MTV) and computer games, rap lyrics, tv or (insert scapegoat here)
I can't read this article without thinking about Data and Tasha in The Naked Now.
Tasha: You are fully functional, aren't you?
Data: Yes.
Tasha: How fully?
Data: I am programmed in multiple techniques of pleasure. (And can recognize your emotions, I'm the perfect man for you!)
Tasha: You jewel! That's exactly what I hoped.
Well, you have to give Microsoft credit, even they have a sense of humor today! They have an April Fools webpage up at: http://www.microsoft.com/security/
Just look at all those jokes, almost every link!
Oh good, now I too can become dizzy, disoriented and a general mess if I lose the display or have it taken away at the airport. I especially will have to watch out for those "pile of fire extinguishers" that are usually found in airports.:)
For those of you who missed, I am of course referring to this guy.
Ack! I wanted to get first post, but I was too busy completing my collection of Star Trek: TNG episodes from Morpheus. Now what were we talking about again? Oh yeah, those bastard ISPs and their illegal ways!? They should all be sued! I can't be responsible for what I download!;)

Regarding the spider story, this is the funniest quote I have seen all day. Does he realize what he just said?
``The spiders unfortunately are territorial carnivores. They eat each other, and this has caused them to resist all forms of domestication,'' Turner said.
I can see it now, "Heel boy, now sit, stand. Now spin some silk into a shirt for me!"
From the article: While the company has already issued security patches for the software, no evidence of malicious code in the operating system has been reported.
OK, who wants to take this one? They are just making this too easy for us!;)
When I read comments like this, I think of the lovable Comic Book Guy, so anal about everything. Get over the mispellings, no one is perfect, not CNN, not the BBC and not Slashdot. Besides, what is the word, "You's?" Does the think belong to You, or maybe it should read, "You is think... Ohhh, look, I can be anal and picky as well!
Oh, this is just Microsoft trying to explain why they have so many security problems.
"See!" screams Steve, "I told you it isn't our fault, it's those damn terrorists! This is why we need more software to monitor people and secure all their personal information! I suggest using our fine product, Passport! (tm)"
But seriously, this one is really stretching for a story...
While the device is technically capable of being a distribution center for digital music, it is limited for now to sharing tunes within the home.``It is not a Napster server,'' he said
I love when companies say stuff like, "There is no way that our equipment can be used in other way than what we made it for.":)
Gay militia member seeks ex-Marine type, must have love of rabbits and have deep understanding of scientific theories and methods. Would there be a code for that? Like GTME-MRLSR?
If... appropriate technical safeguards in place to prevent possible misuse, and nobody else used it -- we wouldn't detect it,
If there is one thing I have learned from working with computers is the only foolproof security is to unplug a computer from the network or turn it off.
I bought the Rio a few weeks ago and can't remember what I did before that. I use a tape adapter for the car and it works perfect! I put it in the glove box and then clip the remote control to something near me, or my clothes, and away it goes! You can have it shuffle or play in order. It also reads directories so its nice to be able to organize your music on your pc like that and then just burn directories. I highly recommend it over anything else because of the amount of music you can store.
The AC adapter is nice, but I haven't really used it that much yet. The skip protection is just plain silly, I can swing it around and shake it and it doesn't care.
So, the bottom line in case it isn't obvious is that the Rio is the best solution for now.
In terms of the power consumption side of this, I say blah, blah blah. Let's just admit that we will always need more and more energy and start working on our own Dyson sphere or at least more efficient solar collectors. People need to realize that we will always need more energy tomorrow than we did today, that is the way technology goes. We should be trying to capture more of the ridiculous amount of energy the sun puts out than save a few bucks with these chips. Building something to save energy from mostly oil-based energy generators are only prolonging the inevitable. We need energy and lots of it, so get over it and lets move on.

I need the clickity-clack feedback from my keyboard, I might get used to it, but I doubt this will ever catch on. Maybe it should come with a piece of paper printed with a keyboard.:P
I love that in the previous/. article, they said, " The demise of Napster, a popular music-swapping service... may also portend a stall in broadband demand.
" and then the next/. story is about all the other Napster clones popping up and going strong. Maybe those Cnet people should be more L33t and pay attention to new trends. I mean, Napster was so last year already!:)
So does this mean everyone should see that goat picture at a young age so they won't have a problem with it later? ;)

Isn't that always the case? It's a fine line between genius and lunatic. :)
``The spiders unfortunately are territorial carnivores. They eat each other, and this has caused them to resist all forms of domestication,'' Turner said.
I can see it now, "Heel boy, now sit, stand. Now spin some silk into a shirt for me!"
In other cases it may be different, although they said it may be harder to prove, but still posssible to be considered disabled.
