> CANOPY STARTER KIT, 6 AP CLUSTER, SUPPORTS UP TO 200 SUBSCRIBERS ON EACH AP MODULE $30,000.00
So let me get this straight. 6 APs supporting 1200 total users (assume residences) for $30k. That's only $25. Oh then there's the Customer Terminal Equipment at $515 a pop and a license at $28.95 ea and bandwith to feed your back haul...
Your talkin AT LEAST $650,000 to set this up for a neighborho(ood). That works out to around $540 per household assuming evreyone in the coverage area gets on board. I guess that's not bad if you amortize it over the year (or two). But what kind of freaky geek commune are you going to find that needs 1200 BB connections in a two mile radius?
>...girl in her underwear squirming out of her panties Of course you know that the Google Image search for Ontario Science Center is totally slashdotted now.
LOX liiquid fuel systems are indeed complex. Peroxide systems on the other hand are simple. Anyone with access to machining tools could build one in an afternoon. The basic design requires a presurized fuel tank supplying a jet that sprays the peroxide through silver screens in the reaction chamber of the thruster. Lenght of flight can be determined by adusting the pressure in the tank and the flow through the jet. Check out the lander the guys at http://www.armadilloaerospace.com/are developing. The controls are complex the basic design of the motors is not. Try Google for more peroxide rocket motor designs. You'll see what I mean.
How about we boycott www.sduniontribune.com instead. This article is pure FUD.
>"...as well as promoting piracy by allowing consumers to buy, record and sell back discs while retaining their own digitally pristine copies."
Almost no one does this. $8 to $10 a disc + PITA of giong to record store - $3 to $5 back on resell ? Just isn't worth it. "D00d! leme borrow yer Outkast disc fer a minute!" is easier and free.
> "...Billboard quoted several executives who said they favor the establishment of an agency that would exert a flat royalty rate"
Newsflash: Execs favor free money
also note that the RIAA "...has not taken an official position on the issue."
I certain that many of the comments below this will mention that the RIAA want to legislate some kind of royalty payments on used CDs. I'm sure they do but the article doesn't say this and even downplays it in my opinion.
>"You can see the boom in less-than-mint-condition merchandise in at least 40 record stores in San Diego County, including 17 Wherehouse Music outlets and 13 Music Trader shops. That's more than double the number of used-CD stores in the area in 1992."
HOLY CRAP! There poppin' up all over SD at the rate of 2 per year. By 2050 there will be one in every Starbucks. Oh the humanity.
> "The focus on the used-CD market comes at a time when new-CD sales continue to stagnate in the United States. Total sales last year were about $13 billion, unchanged from 2000."
Interesting. Every other industry in the US has suffered losses during that period.
In the writer's opinion:
>"Sales have been hurt largely by a surge in piracy,..."
Or maybe it was the economic enviorment. Which seems more likely?
I'm certain that the RIAA is concerned about used CD sales. If they think they can make a buck somehow they will try, but I don't think they're ready to call in the "Jack-Booted Thugs" just yet.
As an example of the same kind of journalism the Rocky Mountain News front page headline for Monday read:"All of Colorado is on fire" . No wonder news agencies all over the US misreported the danger(lack of) to Denver residents.
Boycott alarmist reporting...before it too late!

No. Pot is ok. You meant: "Pottery maybe,..." At first I thought you meant "Poetry". As you can see English is hard. That's why we have training languages like "Engrish", "Chat Speak" and the popular "1337". =)

Actually, If you send the output through an analog chorus and an echoplex, crop the high frequencies, lower volume and superimpose a cat bathing itself you might have something there.
FYI--I worked on a shipping dock for $6US/hr. I typically packed and prepared 35 or 40 various sized (envlope sized to furniture sized) items per hour. Assuming $12US per hour (adding in benefits/inflation/other costs to employ me) that's about $.34US per item.
"...someone's going to have to pay for television and it's going to be you."
I already do fscking pay for television. If I wanna pay for a Tivo so I can miss the commercials (which I also pay to see) I won't feel like I'm taking food off the networks' tables. It isn't like I escape the constant bombardment of advertising messages just by skipping the ads. There's product placements and ghost logos and ticker messages and probably soon to be banner ads embeded in the actual programs. Nobody is gonna get away from it.
I dunno. It's my understanding that peltiers have been responsible for shorting due to condensation occasionally. I would expect the problem to be greater with a more efficient device. Maybe putting a small one inside case to cool the ciculating air? Nice idea, though.

No shit. Talk about 'Dude, where's my Weirding module'. LOL
Most of our newer servers (almost all compaq) are named [os]+[app/service]+[node#].
Os is abreviated like hp=HPUX n=NT and such so we get hpsapdb01.bigcapnetworkco.com. Easy to see what it does and which SA owns it but huge PITA rember the name. At one time we had over 400 servers named like this.
The older machines had cooler names including one bunch named after LOTR characters. Gandalf and Sauron were E10k DB servers and there were a bunch of fileservers named Pippin,Frodo,Samwise, etc. All that's left of those is Brandybuck, Arwen and Misty(as in Mountains).

WinMX 3.1 + Win2k == BSOD
Haven't had time to play with it yet. Anyone know a fix?
