They say every generation has a defining moment where everybody remembers where they were. Pearl Harbor. Kennedy. Challenger. 9/11.
I was home sick that day from 6th grade; my parents trusted me to stay home alone. As it was, my mother was a teacher and called to tell me to turn on the news. It was horrifying, but what strikes me today is that I didn't share this with my classmates. I wasn't at school watching the launch live like nearly everyone else in my generation.
Remember sniglets by Rich Hall? One was "essoasso": someone who cuts through a gas station to avoid a stoplight. Didn't make sense to me but my Dad explained Esso used to be an oil/gas station company. So though Esso is before my time, that's how I remember them.
What if the Zune's OS became a launchpad to a phone OS, and they had used their existing PDA experience from Windows CE to make a really good product and stuck with it, even if sales were initially slow, but they kept improving it?
But this is what they did and are doing. While Zune wasn't the direct antecedent of Windows Phone, the Metro UI was first developed for the Zune and refined for WP. And regardless of one's opinion of Microsoft, few can deny WP is generally considered a really good product, with high customer satisfaction and plenty of plaudits from tech blogs and reviewers. Sales were and are slow, but they keep improving it (though granted, Nokia has been improving WP at a faster clip). Currently, Microsoft looks to be in it for the long term; Windows 9 and Windows Phone 9 are expected to be a convergence of platforms.
GOG.com is my go-to for games now. The only non-GOG game I have installed is Sims 3 and I never play it (by the time I get through all the loading screens to actually play the game, I don't want to play anymore).
Other games I still play regularly are RCT2 and 3 and Torchlight 1.
I Shift+Delete more often than I don't, and that confirmation has saved my bacon more than once. Why not just use the recycle bin? Because my OCD won't allow an icon of a full trash can.
For me Start8 just looks better, like it's an integrated part of the Windows 8 desktop UI. Classic Shell, useful as it is, looks like the add-on it is.

"I thought they smelled bad on the outside."
Unless they're going to do something like the Galaxy Quest TV show in the movie
This was my thought, especially it they made it as much a parody of Star Trek as the movie was of the cast and culture.
which looked fairly mediocre
Okay, so it'd have to be really well done.
Then you probably don't like Raiders of the Lost Ark either, where the outcome of the movie is the same whether Indiana is in it or not.
Do they write a GUI in VB to track the IP?

To the best of my knowledge, there is nowhere in this country that you can choose between two cable providers.
In my town, we have a choice between Time Warner (soon to be Comcast, I suppose) and WOW!
I suggest that developers restricting them self only to Windows, to broaden their perspective.
Or, instead of complaining, go the open-source route and fork a project and port it to another platform.
thor is the person wielding mjolnir and busty assets
FTFY.
Just like Superman III.
I download my peanut butter. If that makes me a pirate, then a pirate I be.

A crummy commercial? Son of a bitch!

EMBED - EXHAUST - ENVELOPE
Well, Mon Mothma survived the prequels, too bad she didn't survive the cutting room floor.

Have you actually used Notes or Groupwise? We did, some of our clients still do. Exchange is worth every penny.

Won't somebody think of the ill-tempered sea bass?!
At the risk of bringing up South Park, I'd probably pay money for a feature-length "Asses of Fire."
Not worth the effort.
I signed on to Amazon's Turk, spent an hour to make about $.018.
No thanks.
Nice, you insensitive clod.

Well, you don't want to cross them. Very bad things will happen.
