I watched the whole interview, I enjoyed it. I admit I don't really know anything about Musk, he didn't really come off to me as "weird", I just thought he was either eccentric or maybe just parsing his words knowing that it could affect his stocks.
I thought the "pot smoking" could be a dumb choice for Elon considering how volatile the stock market can be, but he's an adult and can do whatever he wants. I have seen many Joe Rogan podcasts and usually find them to be very entertaining, Joe is always talking about weed though. For me it's kinda like a vegetarian - yeah that's super for you but I don't need to hear about it every 3 seconds.
... 'that the changes could affect the "infrastructure of the modern internet," '...
That sounds very desirable to me, I would really enjoy an internet that wasn't taken over by advertising. It seems like a lifetime ago when all you had to endure from websites were animated gifs from over zealous web designers.
I find that there are few movies that I can watch more than once, but I've seen The Thing many times and will watch again.
The paranoia and fear among the characters is palpable, and there is no lame CGI.
Too many times I've seen what happens when squirrels get fried on the power lines near my house. To say they "explode" is an understatement. Mostly is just a big bloody meat mess on my garage door and driveway.
You are completely correct and I was a little too brief in my comment and should have mentioned this.
But it is still a completely fascinating thing to watch. It is amazing to see liberal minded people do an about face and deny other people the ability to voice their opinions. Screaming "racism" and labeling everything "hate speech" in order to make sure yours is the only voice that is heard is an interesting thing to witness.
It is also very dangerous when powerful entities such as Facebook and Twitter engage in this behavior. I guess if you are a billionaire it's ok to attempt to force the world into your narrow view?
People care little about the US First Amendment rights apparently. You are allowed to say only things that they agree with. The assault on free speech with the shadowbanning of conservatives is an amazing thing to watch, but most people just shrug it off and dont realize how serious it is.
All people are equal, but it appears some people or more equal than others.
I use Chrome and the Personal Blocklist (by Google) extension to block them from appearing in Google search results. I will *not* run an installer that does who knows what to my pc, so they get the blacklist.
The fact that they are changing their practices is too little too late, the trust was murdered forever ago.
I sincerely hope it is not *still* with a mouse and keyboard. For me it is the least sucky way to interact with my pc, I wish something existed that would allow me to be more productive, I spend too much time moving the mouse around and typing.
Water pistols are insufficient, maybe water cannons...
Although I am now seeing a true purpose of those powerful green lasers the morons are always shining at aircraft. A nice green laser built into a rifle configuration with a powerful scope. Burning out the optics of any threatening drones seems like a reasonable defense.
"how much RAM you need for regular desktop computing"
The word "regular" is probably the key. I have 32 gig of ram in my home machine because I like to spin up multiple VM's and leave them running.
Windows will happily gobble up 2 gig of your ram, and if it's 32bit windows you really only have 3.5 gig to access. So that leaves your typical user with ~1.5 gig of ram for programs. Probably fine for "regular" computing but woefully inadequate for any serious use of a pc.
Attempting to download software from SF is such a disgusting process, it's similar to negotiating with a car salesman. You will be taken advantage of at every opportunity, and if you don't have your guard up at all times you will be hurt.
I'm forever done with SF. I nearly exclusively use Chrome as my browser of choice so 2 browser plugins make sure I never visit that site again. "Personal Blocklist (by Google)" will makes sure that no SF results get returned in a Google search, and "Block site" will make sure that I cant navigate there by manually typing in a url.
Why do you give a flying **** what the NSA are doing with your data?
Because government entities are being used to punish those of differing political beliefs than those in power. It will only get worse, and it matters not what "side" the current rulers are. The current administrations favorite punishment tool seems to be the IRS. Can't wait to find out how bad it gets with the next administration.
because lying is not itself illegal
It depends on the context. Here in the US, you can be charged for lying to Congress in certain circumstances, but it is not true the other way around. Congressmen enjoy "freedom of speech" when lying to the public.
It would be interesting to see such technology used to explore Phobos and get some nice close up pics of that interestingly shaped rock.
Chrome does the same thing when you open IE/Edge and navigate to google.com.

I stopped reading the summary about fake news when it stated "CNN has a story ...". CNN *is* fake news, very politically motivated and biased.

Remove the few million illegal alien votes and that Clinton popular vote disappears.
What difference at this point does it make?
Si

Yes. Rupert Murdoch, the Koch brothers, Mark Zuckerberg, George Soros, etc.

There's no such thing as legitimate tracking
This this a thousand times this

Retailers are not required to carry products they don't agree with.
Does this also apply to people who would like to sell cakes or pizzas for a living?
Ad blocking is a right. If I buy a device, I should be allowed to control the I/O -- including disallowing any ads
I wish this opinion was more widely adopted, and expanded to my television set.

There has got to be something wrong with me, the term "astronaut pudding" made me hungry.
All five of your comments would be decried as "racist!". It doesn't even matter anymore if that is a logical retort, it is the default accusation.
