It's been hot for a while for some of us. I've been using MAME for years, and I still have an Apple ][e (and//c) with 50+ disks of games that I use every few weeks or so.
I guess I'm the exception.
(BTW: these 5.25" floppies from 15 years ago *all* still work. They just don't make 'em like they used to.)
Probably a bad idea: As soon as they got in range of your jammer, they'd look down at their cell phone to check their signal level, not see you (or any other goddamned thing on the road), and BLAMO!
It's bad enough with them dialing the thing at 80Mph.
In 1997 we were still flying high (I was anyway). Easy to find jobs that paid scads of money.
I thought the bust was more like 2000-2002. I was laid off in from my comfy biotech position in mid 2001, when the only aspect of the company that had any remote potential was eaten by a bigger fish. Something like 85% of the employees laid off.

I would be interested if I could hum some of the song to this service. Then you wouldn't have to catch the song playing on the radio. The phone thing is a little inconvenient, if you are too busy to make a call, or you don't often hear the song. The music I tend to like doesn't make it into heavy rotation, and so it's not likely I'll have my phone handy when they get around to playing it once a week. (I suppose this is fine if you like top 40, but then, how hard is it to find out the name of the song in that case?)
I recall seeing some CS student (probably their thesis) recently making a prototype search engine that would do this. Anybody recall?
Look, I've been through Tübingen at the speed of light, and it doesn't look anything like that!

Well I've got an E450 on *my* surfboard to play mp3s!
Pfftt! I got a Cray on my skateboard!
so I can *see* the universe.
Not exactly.
It doesn't have:
a LAN port
a modem
an external antenna connector
and supports only 10 users instead of 50.
Still, I'm sure as hell getting one for my stereo!
A rotary knob would be nice on one of these for:
Major Havoc
Tempest
Tron (and DoT)
and maybe others...
and got this.

Unix, of course!

"...and many have never seen Pascal."
I *wish* I had never seen Pascal.
Or COBOL, for that matter.

Yup, it's a dup
Slow day guys?
"The technology eliminated the need for cat 5..."
In fact, I would recommend not using ANY kind of cat technologies with this protocol.
Redundant?!
You bastards! I was actually pretty early with this comment (I thought).
Ugh. Sometimes Slashdot make me want to blow my brains out.
BANG!
Mars Disney World
I think it's a great idea.
See you there!

Is the the fact that the protagonists from Neuromancer and Pattern Recognition are phonetically identical just a coincidence?
Don't miss the adventures of Kaice in his next novel! Or is it Quess?

Damn Slashdot. I can't tell if "tardmark" was accidentally misspelled, intentionally mispelled, or just a freudian slip.
Why are people modded up just for posting a link to half-relevant comicstrip?
Besides, Garfield is funnier than this strip, for Christ's sake.
I guess I'll be the one guy who apreciates the fact that at least they had enough of a clue (conscience ?)to admit that maybe it was't the best idea.
At least they learn...
Some folks don't, that's worse.
