Dude! Lighten up! He asked the IT for access rather than bull-headedly blazing ahead.
I'm assuming that "bull-blazing ahead" in your book doesn't include buying, configuring and plugging a server into the network, with no mention until he wanted access to it through the firewall, is that right?
What blows me away is not that someone has a hardon for/against Obama, but that someone took the time to write this weird-ass shit, and then post it. I've got lots of political vitriol inside me, but nothing that would merit the time it took to write this amazing piece. Well done, AC. You have freaked me out/blown my mind more than anyone else on/.
Agreed. Seriously, if you're doing a major update to OSX, and you don't do an "archive and install," you're a tool. This has always been the best way to clean out detritus in my systems when a new system rolls up. I'd rather have problems when some app doesn't work because of what's *not* there, rather than have a system choke because of what *is* there.
(Disclaimer: Not involved with these guys at all -- did a training session with some of their developers several years ago, and was impressed by their pitch)
Once again, I see that the number of stories was overwhelming Scuttlemonkey, and he reverted to the "blindfold/dartboard" method of greenlighting without RTFA.
....does Slashdot act as the marketing arm of Lebedev? The number of pre-annouce, pre-production, pre-order shite having to do with this marginally cool keyboard is wee-todd-did.
Those who care only for themselves, and have no consideration for the world around them, depress me.
Sometimes we pay to help those who need it. That's the way a community functions. As a Canadian, while I maybe don't have the health care that I need the instant I need it, it's still pretty damn good -- especially when there's an emergency. I pay for it, but I also live in a healthier society as a whole. Perhaps if you had better national helath care, you'd have fewer working poor, who can't afford health care, but make too much for subsidy, and get caught in the nightmare treadmill of constant debt because of a trip to the hospital.
Ditto. I registered a.net domain ages ago that I was using, and had an offer from a large clipart company for it for $10,000USD (This was in 1998). For me, that was enough $$$ for me to let it go. Deal never sailed, then I had another company approach me in 2001 about it. Sold it for $1500. That was worth it to me at that point -- I wasn't really using it.
My suggestion -- and the tactic I used to sell? Email him back that you've never really thought about selling the domain before, but you haven't been that interested in maintaining it recently (This would be good, paper-trail-wise, if he/she tried to nail you on ICANN regs). You would consider selling it, but wouldn't really consider an offer under $XXXX, as it's worth that amount to you. Then, cross fingers and await response. But, to try and turn this into a significant money-making gesture at this point -- that's bad form, karmically detrimental, and a little on the slimy side, IMHO.
Not trolling or flaming, but how is Fahrenheit possibly more useful? Celsius is far more sensible in using the freezing point of water as its baseline. Being Canadian, while I understand Fahrenheit, I've always found it a bit confusing, and a little retarded.
I'm Jim -- except that's not my name:P -- exactly. I started smoking the Heroes crack about episode 8 or so, and NEVER would have started watching it at episode 9, without having snagged it off BT. In the meantime, I've sold at least a dozen other people on the series. Will I buy the season when it comes out on DVD? Hellya. Did "piracy" cost NBC money in my case? Hmm.....
Sorry Doc, but I submit that you're incorrect (IANAL, btw). Parents are not automatically liable for the actions of their children -- the reasonable test applies under tort or contract law. If the parent made a reasonable effort to supervise their activities or actions. In this case, I'd suggest that, given her inexperience with computers, it could be easily explained as her reasonably assuming that their actions were not a breach of copyright. And, the case of plastic guns on a transatlantic flight is completely different, as it's criminal -- and, under criminal law except in certain circumstances, parents are not responsible for criminal acts committed by minor children.
*Again, IANAL -- but I did just finish a law course.:-)

Right. Carry on then.
Oh, Lag fighting with Mechwarrior 2 on the Kali network. Such fond memories.
You know, I always knew that this shot ACTUALLY happened. This just confirms it!

Please make it stop. I can't decide if it's because it's (a) short, (b) unfunny, or (c) just lame, but make the disagree mail go away. Soon.
Sorry -- I needed it for hookers and blow.
Opened?

Are you high? Just asking.

With no mod points, I can only say, L.M.F.A.O. Seriously.
.....where do I sign up? I'm all for free money back.
Absolute Software might have what you want:
Absolute BIOS-Level Protection

I don't know if you know this, but *I'm* HUGE in Japan.

Libertarians make me sad.
Unfortunately, as Idiocracy supports, the elegance of the name and its nuanced meaning, is totally fucking lost on the great unwashed.

And finally, if they read Slashdot, yer fekked.
I remember this article the first time around -- when it was in Fast Company. I bet Gordon Bell does, too.
Or, you know, just talk about the tubes instead.

Fortunately, there are handy compartments for hoverboards, however.
