As a former Maximum PC reader, I've been thinking that it would be rather easy for some manufacturers to send souped up review units out, to get good reviews of their product, when the actual retail product is inferior quality. Similar to how Road & Track will test cars with specific packages, which unless you are somewhat detailed oriented when buying a car, you probably would not get the same package.
I just believe that it's rather possible, but I am not aware of any companies that do this practice. Just stating my own $.02
But they had released an update for this about a month or 2 in advanced. I have recently rebuilt this system (due to hardware error, not software) and run Win2000. I also kept currant with all service packs and critical updates. I check every month or so for any.
The thing that got to me and my dad, is that this headache could have been avoided if people use a weekly scanning antivirus software, as well as periodically checking for updates. I've heard the argument that patches for networking features can screw up mission critical applications - But if you are using software that has to exploit system code instead of using it... something fishy there, and that, according to my dad (A retired 20 year Systems Analyst) is just a bull shit excuse.
Arguments abound "We shouldn't have to check for updates all the time!" Yeah yeah, and I supposeyou don't look at your fuel gauge everytime you get in your car.
Being one who has always bought OEM and never had (too) much of a problem with OEM hardware, this doesn't bother me too much. In short, if you go the extra distance and pay the extra money for a retail CPU, you are being told basically "use this fan/heatsink combo, 'cause it does what we want it to do and meets the (minimum) standards we set for our product."
Not too much of a concern for most people who build custom boxes for home personal use - You get a computer that you want, so you upgrade the crap out of it.
At most, I feel that this is more of a problem for companies like Alien Ware or Zenatek. The ones that have the most to lose because they use AMD products in their products (custom comptuers).
IANAL, but Hey, I'm also in CA, which protects my butt too.
Current beliefs that peoples "orignally" had are commonly found after conversion to a different religion - mainly because there is some ambiguity with religions. Anyway, you want examples? Virgin Mary in Mexico, the hillside of the reported sighting was also a hillside used previously for fertility rituals. More you say? Go to christianized Africans and ask for a picture of Baby Jesus. By GOLLY HE AIN'T WHITE! And with some, he replaces spirits that affected weather/fertility/etc.
All in the order of making those major denominations more palitable. Originally, as long as they got (most) of it right, colonizers didn't care too much, as they were more after resources. Major Religions were more used as a way to get things under control (YES... Read The Colonizers Model of the World by Blaut)
I see this as useless copy protection, much the same way someone was once able to copy a write protected Ebook by xeroxing it as it displayed on screen (Or rather, captured it via printscreen, usw.)
Anyone with access to decent quality recording equipment, a few cables and some extra time, will still be able to copy these tracks. Not that hard (Hell, I've done it with tapes to make CDs, so i don't see a problem).
Although, one must wonder if anyone will take the time to rip Kenny G...
I think they're dying as a popular form of entertainment, in the sense that people go out of their way to make them for profit (and fun?).
It seems now that all the ones that are currently released are by die hard fans that do it for the sake of good stories - akin to a writer who writes for the sake of writing, rather then a writer who writes for the sake of making money.
A more/. analogy would be the open source ideology. You don't make any money off it, but you do it for the good of making things better. If it were popular in the emic sense, everyone would be doing it to make money. (Which is what developers do =P )
You also forget that the statistical analysis is in reference to vegetation and animal displacement as well. Last I checked, Antartica didn't have any native vegetation nor animal life. So it's ok to toss out that land mass; although I do agree it should be included in statistical analysis if that were to emcompass amount of land taken/total land.
Not so much that it's mutually exclusive (animal/vegetation and land) but the focus is more on land that is sustainable to both humans AND animals/vegetation
As an actual student from UCI, I can relate more about the Resnet policies. There are many complaints about the P2P bandwidth limitation. There are also complaints with other network concerns ("flags" that go up when downloading large file sizes - MPAA cracking down on priated movies on college campuses).
I do appluade the limiting of p2p programs. It sucks at first, but once the ball of academia gets rolling, and you realize that getting those latest songs from Dashboard Confessionals honestly shouldn't be your highest priority... then you start to understand.
Heck, I got most of my stuff off of Undernet anyway.
Also, physical charicteristics of Neandertal are no chin, large jawbone (So that excludes Jay Leno), a sagital keel (think like a small bump that runs on the top of your head, where your jaw muscles would attach to), an Supra-Orbital Torus (eyebrow bone. It'd look like it were jutting out quite a bit), as well as strong, big neck muscles (charicterized by an Occipital bun on the back of the head.)
It is shown that Neandertal and Archaic Homo Sapiens lived during the same time, hell, evidence suggests that they lived close to each other. Campsites, tool kits (shared traits in those tool kits - i.e. Blades, Lavolla flaked hand tools like awls and needles)... It's possible that Neandertal did survive (according to my biological anthropology class) but rather unlikely. Neandertal is a different species and unable to produce viable offspring w/ Homo Sapiens Sapiens (see definition of species). So I wouldn't worry too much about them trying to score the chicks with their hairy basketball player looks (Hack a Shaq indeed)
He's missing the ultimate peripheral, the till ( place where the money goes ).
I'm wondering, if he were to take the till in and out (what sales associates and managers do to count out the register in order to have the correct amount inside, typically $125), does he have to mount and remount?
Your unofficialy offical site to buy more starwars knish/shwag.
Picks, Nobs, and Straps, I can possibly see. But not an entire freaking guitar.
Life more like Battletech
on
Modular Robots
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
Ok, so I'm probably going to be pointing a giant neon sign at my head that reads "NERD!" but, back when I was into table top RPG's, Battletech in particular, There was a segment of the Battletech universe called "The Clans" which had mechs that had modular weapons. Meaning, all you had to do was supposidly slide in and out the weapons for configuration. Now in actual game play, this didn't really show up (Gameplay being much more cooler when Mech's have an individual shape - Mad Cat as opposed to a Thor for those of you that played the video games) but it is just a little bit of background factoid which runs similar with the story
The mechanics behind fencing equipment and weapons are a bit more then just "Pointy wires." Epee, the weapon that I fence, is closest that passes to that, since the entire body is considerd target area, and there is no right of way (i.e., if you were to have right of way, and someone was attacking you first, extended first, whatnot, you couldn't slip in an attack with out first establishing your own right of way through a parry, or your own extension, etc). But then Epee is fast paced in the action department. and anything more would be overkill.
Foil and Sabre, the other two weapons require the use of a la-me, which A: Designates Target Area, and through the use of a scoring box B: Shows if the target area is hit and C: Shows if there is a double touch. Foil weapons are similar to epee in the stance that it has a button "plunger" tip. Saber on the other hand is basicaly a rod that has a small current running through it so that when one blade hits a la-me, a touch is scored, provided it's a legal hit, etc.
As for the look, It's more a form of function. We have that goofy stance so there is less target area for a person to hit, as well as having more surface area with our back foot in order to propell ourselves forward, be it stepping forward, lunging, or a flush (think an unexpected charge). The suits are ment to be smooth and form fitting, so that there are no creases for a tip to snag on and go off, and if you got the body for it, make you look pretty damn sexy (as told to me by more then a fair share of girls), which when added to the entire "honor dueling" thing gets some girls attention really quick.
And who's to say that broadsword fighting were to be anymore interesting? It'd be hack, hack, slash, slash, and be just more boring and a lot more noisier (not in the good way) then fencing. And if you suggest adding broadswords TO fencing, you would not see any world champions in that, since it's completely unrealistic. Hence, that's why it was weeded out after the middle ages, and such single bladed or tipped weapons took over as the arm of choice during the "explorationistic" period (13/1400's till early 1900's)
Just because our arms and chests don't look like grapefruit injected bulges, and we wear a bit more then a loincloth, and less than enough sheet metal to make a 77 Chevelle out of, doesn't make us less entertaining if you took the time to actually understand the mechanics behind it. Heathen
I've been using KaZaA since it got popular (after napster) and I just recently upgraded to the latest version last night. Due to license agreements, you can opt not to install top text, as well as the other "enhancement" spyware that kazaa tries to install as well.
If your so inclined not to have spy software installed from P2P programs such as KaZaA and Audiogalaxy, I'd suggest using Ad Aware to find and remove the offending programs/cookies/etc
This would be ideal for those situations where you do not have access to a ladder, but need to rescue someone. Such as window washers, or the suicidal person that had 2nd thoughts, but can't get back in. Something along those lines.
Dear god, I can't belive anything written today, since it is April Fools.
Best answer would be an Open Source OS, Probabal legacy support, and what ever else you want, 'cause I don't see this happening anytime soon. Also keep in mind that aliens might use different base number systems, might also have no new technology ( Their MIR crashed into us instead of their ocean ) and, well... they just might not be corporeial.

That landslide test server is gone already? And this story was just posted!
Same. the night after the first time I played Doom, I had nightmares about Imps with chainsaws chasing after me.

And yes, I am an Anthro Major.
I thought it said PDA/Radar Detector at first.
WIMHO would be more practical.

Not saying that "I love this book, go buy it" is constructive criticism, but alas, yours was not either.
That and I happen to like the Discworld series, and happen to believe that the first volumes (granted, his later work is kinda ehhh...) are good.
So that explains those missing booty call Text Messages.
DAMNIT!

I can see someone hacking this upping the amperage and using it as that old hand buzzer joke....
"Meeting him was just electrifying..."

Correct spelling is Neandertal, not Neanderthal.

But the desiners ate the designs due to a coconut hunger strike
And there was much rejoycing

I wonder how fast a person can go using this....
If you read patriot games, they used just that technology and information (womans bust size) to capture a french terrorism group.
Rather amusing how only anything above a C cup can be seen by sat. Guess the birds eye view is the better one =P

Yet another reason why I miss cable. That, and Thia.
Damn my dorms not having cable! I'm getting work done!
