The playable undead race are undead that have freed themselves from the lich king.

    a) it is invasive, but not much more than a needle prick. If the technology works, I could see it becoming sort of an outpatient surgery.

    b) It is fairly easy these days to make antibodies for specific molecules. Most diseases already have antibodies that you can order. The methods for developing antibodies is already out there, and the methods for purifying them are getting better and better. I should know, I do this for a living!

In conclusion, I can think of dozens of uses for this if it can really do what they say it can, and only some of them pertain directly to the treatment of disease. This could be an incredible tool for scientists to use!

  15. The difficulty in making a good multiplayer RTS on On The Ascent And Descent Of The RTS · · Score: 1

RTS games are the most difficult games to make for multiplayer in my opinion. The reason for this is two fold. If you are brand new, and just trying to play the games online, you will lose to everyone. Unlike fps games or mmorpgs, even experienced players cant just pick up the game and expect to do well. The second reason is a balance issue. Even if you become good at the games, there are always serious balance issues which take an incredible amount of time to manage. There are very few companies that have the resources to handle this, and even those that do often have problems for months or years.

I can teach my grandmother to play a game like everquest, and she will be just as good as anybody else. I still think they are fun, but they take no skill to play. There is no competition. There usually is only a mild penalty if you die. I like games that you can lose, where you have to start over if you messed up. Games where there is real competition. I am sure there are rpgs out there like that, but everquest and ashrons call are not among them. I play games for the challenge, not just mindless entertainment. If I wanted that, I would just watch a reality tv show.

Most massive online games like everquest require very little real skill to become good at. I could teach my grandmother how to play, and in a few months, she would be as good as anyone else. Games like quake and warcraft take hundreds or thousands of hours to develop skills, memorize maps, and develop strategies. Most importantly is that you have to have real talent. I will never be as good at golf as tiger woods, even if I had been trained from birth. The same holds true in video games, like it or not.
