I was going to post the dialog, but then I realized that/. might get a Dilbert Take Down Notice. Of course we could always say that the notice is for Web 1 & 2, and/. is now in Web 3.
I enjoy seeing these big corporations and trade groups fighting against each other. Only billions of dollars will change the current system. It is too entrenched.
What did I ever do to deserve that. I know- it was downloading all that pr0n off of USENET in 1995. Personally I don't like the new interface. I just checked and evidently I'm no longer trusted. Thank God. Who knows what vulnerabilities might be lurking in that new version.
You still need a duplexer (I don't know if CDMA2000 uses SAW based ones), LNA, some sort of gain. ADC's don't work with microvolt signals I don't believe. Otherwise they would have to have incredible noise figures. Something ahead of them has to establish the NF and provide gain.
High band CDMA is 1930 to 1990Mhz. So in your already complex DC chip you are going to put an ADC running at a multiple of 60Mhz? In your dreams. The technologies required are different for high speed logic and low noise figure microwave. SiGe comes close.
In real direct conversion handsets there still is a synthesizer, there still is filtering to meet Adjacent Channel Power (ACP) requirements and strong signals out of band as these radios are full duplex. So you really haven't gained much vs. the traditional heterodyne receiver. SAW filters are pennies in volume.
If what you say is true, then how do you channelize your wide band receiver?
Somewhere there has to be an analog filter that is one channel wide. Cellular handsets, whether GSM or CDMA use SAW filters for that job and synthesizers to mix the desired signal down to the SAW filter freq.
I know. I've had Power Toys in the past. Unfortunately, they come and go off of the MS website. Like the program that rearranged your drivers for faster boot times, I forget its name. It came and promptly vanished. The new console window is supposed to have a lot of new features. I know I can easily right click and paste into it. Maybe I need one of those $50 books. The problem is that I've gone to the MS site and there just isn't a lot of docs on this OS. Perhaps there is a lot we are missing.
My only irritation so far is getting screwed on Ultimate Extras. If you want extras download Server Tools. Its free- for now.
OOh, I figured out how to burn bootable dvd and cd iso's without any 3rd party programs.
Seriously, I just consider it another incremental upgrade. I haven't touched B itlocker and the "Ultimate" apps are vaporware. Its not such a bad OS. Bill Gates scared away all the corporate customers with the "Wow factor" crap. He should have just concentrated on useful new features like the ability to get a commmand window at any folder. IIS people might have some interest in things like that.
And I have not had any problems running Office 2003 and other MS apps that don't require drivers. In fact today, I just got service pack 3 for Office 2003.
In any Linux or BSD system there is GL this, GL that. Yet the package that installs this seems to be called Mesa. Mesa I guess is still in development. Some OS versions fail to install the/usr/X11R6/include/GL Motif widget headers. I always have to go in and manually move them from the build directory to their useful location. Otherwise I have programs that won't compile.
Yes, I understand that people have different interests. Actually I should have been more specific. My frustration comes out as I don't understand why all these distros expect you to go in and hack the system just to get wpa-supplicant working. Maybe it would take a kernel guy 5 min to write the code?

Dilbert will have to change his "Anti-Meeting Spell." (See dilbert.com or the Sunday paper a couple of weeks ago)

Any type of liquid damage voids my service contract.
How to sue 10000 anonymous critics from Slashdot.
Now where did I put my bottle of Haldol?
Just do it! Don't talk about it for 10 years.

that the Method of Moments was being applied to economic data. I always thought it was an EM simulation tool, but the theory is generally applicable.

one giant leap for cheaply built products with the sticker saying "Made in Moon"
Would have to be one of those USB sticks. Can't imagine a CD fitting anywhere.
Triple penetration would be Vista, Linux, BSD.

Nonsense, people keep MS on their computers "just in case". Eventually it will get booted. Remember, these are criminals, not Linux geeks!!
When we have Microsoft Vista tracking our every move on the computer, installing unwanted software, etc.
