Imagine if I wrote a high school essay claiming Hester Prynn in Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter was an aloof buffoon because I heard some kids telling jokes about her before class started.
NASA takes a $20 BILLION dollar annual budget and does what exactly?
Based on my observations:
1) Makes PROPOSALs about places we could send probes or manned missions... frequently involving exotic amounts of tax payer dollars (which it already gets)
2) Reaching out to Muslim nations
3) Collecting climate data that can only be used to advance environmentalism and is probably half baked (esp. if 17 year olds are correcting them) if not fabricated completely
I say drop the whole agency and give the money back to the tax payers.
I only know one guy who died of starvation (been middle class all my life), and it wasn't because he ran out of food.
You go to these 3rd world / emerging countries where corrupt governments stop new businesses and vampire away all the funds they earn and explain how that is a resource problem. Think of the Venezuela horrors where grocery stores are only open for a few hours a day because of government imposed artificial scarcity. And now I suppose you're suggesting a government imposed solution for anti-aging drugs?
200 years ago when 95%+ of the population were farmers I can see how you could make the case that we had resource problems. Let me be the first to tell you we've 1st world problems today.
This is not advised by the sociologist and anthropologist experts, who, it goes without saying, are above the ordinary opinions of ordinary people like you and me. You see, when people are in the herd (like down town metros, etc) they think more about how they look to others, ettiquette, disguising their moral flaws and despair, etc. If people are separated and have their wide open spaces they could start reflecting on life, their values, and start measuring up to their inner ideals instead -which is (obviously) bad, bad and wrong.
To say the mercator projection is oppressing people whose ancestors came from continents that look bigger compared to a different projection diminishes the sensitivity people have about allegations of actual racism.
The general population doesn't trust much of the news for this reason.
To me, the earth is round, but I sympathize with the flat earthers in the NBA because the experts and authorities are too busy pushing their agenda to bring us much awareness of what is going on.

I'm OK with ordinary people using the singular they.
What is happening (at least here in Raleigh, NC, USA) is the words "he" and "she" are being prohibited in academia.
This is like saying the Russians who were sent off to Siberia were getting "reeducated".
The fact is the euphemists and word snobs are gradually saying you can't use the words "he" or "she" anymore.
Language has always reflected (or atleast approximated) the connotations and interests of ordinary people and the elites want to corrupt it.
Why are we applying Stalinism to language?
You saddle businesses with cushy benefits requirements and the highest corporate tax rate in the world and the jobs go to the robots or overseas.
This didn't happen like this when the market was (more) free.
Imagine if I wrote a high school essay claiming Hester Prynn in Hawthorne's Scarlet Letter was an aloof buffoon because I heard some kids telling jokes about her before class started.
The jobs are going away because the government tells companies to pay cushy above market compensation.

I find it intriguing that you think evolution should have a say in this.
Because evolution has a destination in mind or cares about us or what exactly?
What about population shrinkage? Europe and Japan are losing population and the US is not growing.
Population growth is an imaginary problem.
Resource problems?
What ???

I'm sure collective negotiations are very compelling to scientists.
The IRS was just helping Amazon have correct political views.
Can you blame them for steering Amazon away from joining alt right groups, the tea party, CPAC, etc?
Before you know it, Amazon would have been pushing Rush Limbaugh down our throats.

Is a good indicator some shenanigans are going on.

So tell me what you really think
Which countries are the happiest? The ones the UN likes the best.
Well look at that! The happiest countries align with the UN!
Spending the *time* to work on something for outside work during working hours is a liability to keeping your job IMHO.

Now they can finally start hiring older coders.
It was just this one little thing that was holding them back the whole time!
If you look to your brain to explain what has value to you, you will overlook and far outstrip happiness.
Will you seize life or just let it pass you by?
My favorite thing about being a Dad is I can just tell them straight out Jesus is the only way to find happiness on earth.
... hollywood, school, government workers.
Everyone else in their life is forbidden from telling them that
The world hates that kind of stuff and I feel sad for each one of them.
But it's a happy life for me.
To the contrary. People stick around longer because that's what they WANT to do.
Slashdotters promote eugenics because their mediocrity has brought them into an unhappy relationship with themselves and want the ultimate checkout.
Treasure your kids and they will be treasure to you.
Curse your kids, and they will be a curse to you.
Happy parent since 08' here.
People with world views carry the weight of the world.
People with life views are full of life.
I can't tell if you are intending to caricature IT managers.
Culture is just plain stupid. All you need on that front is to be able to work well with others.
What is culture to you anyway? Wearing flashy pants and eating french food or what?
Common as in commonly overstated vastly ...
