A disk image of the warcraft 3 CD, kept on my machine, and mounted before I start the game, works just fine for me.. I hate having to put the CD in, mostly because it makes the machine shake. did you try this?
That wouldn't work unless the devices are USB OTG compliant, which they aren't. You'd need a USB host in there, you can't just hook two USB devices together.
Somebody broke into the system used on the road from Albany to Plattsburg, NY, and made $95,000 worth of long distance calls, when the system was first rolled out.
Its not encrypted, it just has a lot of protocol overhead. Many bytes are sent to relay a single keystroke to the host PC. There are devices which can decode this. I have one on my desk here.
The Libretto 50CT was a very cool machine. I have two of them now, one is in a docking station, running Win2K (Its a little slow on a 75mhz Pentium) as an ICS system, and another has a wireless netcard for use as a web browser.
It was the only Windows system I ever owned that I could ever fit in my coat pocket.
Now Apple can just superimpose the iMac over the top of the Volkswagen, and not have to create their own TV commercials..
Quite interesting actually.. Everybody I have talked to about Apple's design always compares it eventually to Volkswagen. And then Volkswagen starts promoting the greatness of the dome. And Apple comes out with a dome-shaped computer.
If inetd, httpd, sshd, etc, crashes, a normal non-root user could not install their own service in its place, pretending to be a legitimate servoce, and gathering passwords.
I just flew to Belgium for a couple weeks, where wireless is EVERYWHERE and just about everybody has a cellphone. I hear at least 2 or 3 phones ring every hour that I'm in public. Sometimes more like 5 or 6. At home in central new york, I hear one or two. Population wise this place isn't much denser than new york.
But you see cell towers everywhere. And they are ugly. I've heard people bitch and moan about how ugly they were, and they are right. So I think that the appearance of adequate cellphone coverage is one reason we don't have them in the US.
Also, Europe has metered landline phones. You pay per minute. So you pay per minute on a cellphone too, that eliminates one more reason that americans don't like cellphones.
I don't think that startrek style console devices will ever take off. The handheld ones might.
I've got a Fujitsu Lifebook (B series) with a touchscreen. It is a GREAT input device for web browsing. It is not good for long periods of work. It is just plain not comfortable to look at the same place that your hands are for long periods of time. Either my neck hurts if I look down, or my arms hurt if I move them up.
Not much I can do about it. I don't think that many really productive systems will ever evolve that require you to look at where your hands are. We've all learned to touch type so we don't need to do that. Also for speed. But try looking down at your keyboard for 8 hours a day and you'll see.
Or could it just be that we're so used to this that anything else is uncomfortbale??
Why does the default email client, Evolution, intentionally make it impossible to save files with international (Japanese) filenames?
Why do USB headsets not work behind a USB 2.0 hub?
How come unmounting a USB hard drive from the GUI reports an error, but then maybe works?
Why is audio device configuration so difficult? How do you choose your default audio output device with ESD? Compare that to Mac OS X...
Why is monitor re-configuration not immediately obvious or just automatic?
Laptop sleep mode does not "just work."
It looks flashy at first, and it seems about 95% "ready," but it is not as seamless an experience as OS X.

Ozzy is a geek. See definition 2.

DECT is traditionally somewhere around 1850 or 1890 mhz isn't it?

There is no hard drive brand I would like less to have in a hopefully reliable array than Maxtor.
I lost 100% of a batch of 10 Maxtors at work. 75% of hard drives retired due to failure (not old age/low capicity) have been Maxtors.
I'd want the name of mine to be Holly...
I prefer my WooWoo speakers!
They go Woowoo!!

Its funny how, by rewording and reposting a comment, you can once again be modded up. Slashdot is spectacular.
Keepalive won't help if the keepalive packets are dropped.
What I want to do is make my Logitech Wheel Mouse Optical not dim after being idle for 1 second. Anybody have any suggestions?

My definition of cheap is not $250 or $350 for the car, PLUS $170 or $200 per passenger, round trip and coach.
I just called them, couldn't believe that. Its always cheaper to fly than take the train.

Just a few thoughts..
Do they burry the high voltage lines?
Forget the aspect ratio -- It has 3 inputs. You get 3 video cards in your machine and are all set
shit.. if they're transparent we can't even do this!!! What a worthless invention!!!
Not only do they have WinModems, but the B-series notebooks have touchscreens which only work on Win98.
Better patent that idea!!

Imagine a beowulf cluster of these things!
