This is a good start and definally has the obvious applications. Hopefully, if this is successful, i.e. people use it, work on more complex systems can be created.
It would be really neat to find pictures with a certain symbol on them or even my face.
Basicly, Free Will can only exist if you believe in Magic. Either something has a cause or it's random. (Or some combination) There is no room for Free Will.

The Joker did put them in the oil rooms. Remember when he tells Harvey that it wasn't personal. But you are right about the fund raiser.
"WTF These fines are laughable. In fact we have to rethink our policy on fines. They should be based on a percentage of your gross annual income. This should be for individuals, organizations and corporations. I would be in favor of doing this for something as simple as a parking ticket. The way it is now, the corporate board just treats it as a cost of doing business."
Well let's see, if they earn about $50 from us per month as profit and the $2500 is per person effected (which is everyone), then it is equivently to 50 Months (4y 2m) worth of profit. I think that fits.
I work in a comic book store where one of these game days took place. The DM I had was good, but there was this really ugly fat chick who talked too much and had no idea what she was doing which was annoying. I didn't really mind the two kids and their father playing because I saw it as a good thing for them to be doing together and for the kids to get a taste of a different adventure. That said, the adventure itself was only combat, no puzzles, no roleplaying, barely any skill use. It was just fight after fight and though there was some cool treasure in the middle, the best stuff was at the end, which is kind of worthless since, well, it was the end and we can't really use it.
All in all I'm not sure if I feel it showed off the best of DnD however it did give people a chance to learn the rules in a setting with someone who knows them.
At some point, the idea is to make money. It's not a popularity contest. If that were MS's goal, it certainly would be "short sighted" and worthy of derision. Presumably, they are in business to make money, not just so they can waggle their fingers and say "nyah nyah!" at Sony.
See, I'm not convinced the idea is to make money. What if it's just advertising for the microsoft brand?
Part of the advantage of online classes is the idea that students can read the materal at their own convience and communicate though email and postings. Having a live chat can be useful but is unnecessary to have every week.
I was wondering why you played with a bat and a ball at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology but then I figured out that it was playing with a bat and ball that got you into M.I.T.:-)
I agree that Apple also goes for the 'cool' look. But really what do you think of when you think of Apple? Expensive and High Quality. What do you think of when you think of Sony? Expensive and Sues their Customers. Guess which one is cooler?
As mentioned before on Slashdot, I think this was done very well in Eternal Darkness. There are about 11 chapters and only 12 spells in the game which you learn as you go though. The spells get more effecive as the game progress, but since you play with many different character with strenghs and weaknesses the play of the game changes. Everytime you start a new chapter you don't start out with all of your magic. You do get it all at once at some point, but you are forced to explore and feel a little helpless without it. Some people are really good at magic and some are not so good. And since the spells have a fairly large fundimental varience, i.e. not just Fireball 1 2 3 etc. You might think, I think that other time before I had this would be easier with this new spell, it doesn't obsolete the older spells. Sure the story line is amazing, the puzzles interesting, and the character diversity well done, but the combat doesn't get old either. This game got it right.
Assume the Wii only comes with one controller and no games (pretty realistic). When you walk into buy one you have to also get a game or two, and probally another controller.
We can also assume that the Wii costs about the same to make as the Cube, suggesting a similar price point.
I can easily see a starting bundle that's the Wii with it's one controller, another controller, and two first party games, plus some other random accessory for $299.99 + tax.
360 Can't beat that, and for that for the PS3 would probally cost $720+
People do complain when it effect them. Speed traps, gas prices, etc. Most people don't protest, or get their phones tapped, or have been imprioned without cause, only when that happens will people care. Why do you think a cops let people off with warnings? Cause if everyone always got a ticket people wouldn't stand for that, and the governer will be kicked out of office for someone who will crack down on this, who cares what his stance is on patents, the average person doesn't have any patents.
When people read the wall street journal they read it because they know that some highly knowledgable people choose to put those stories in there.
However, there is no news source that is going to print what you exactly want, and it's easily going to be hyped or incorrect.
I read slashdot for the comments. The article, no matter how wrong, misinformed, or correct, will all be spelled out in the comments. On top of that the moderation systems helps me to sort though a large number of comments faster. And while there are surely biases in moderation 3-5 people must have agreed that a specific comment was worth reading for it to be moderated to +5. (I read at +4 or +2 depending on my time.) It's not perfect but it is better than me just relying on one newspaper choosing to run a specific article which may have just been glanced over by the editor saying, ah this will make me money.
As far as the topic at hand there are always dicks out there, but more specificly most people aren't really teachers, as they aren't interested in teaching the same lessons to people time and time again. However, newer people don't mind, and hopfully they realize when it's their turn to teach.
I got into Linux as a friend of mine taught another friend of mine. I tried it out, and for 'simple' questions I could ask the very new guy who had just gone though it, and for more complicated questions I could goto the guy that helped us both. Neither one were burnt out answering questions yet, both were my friends before linux and linux wasn't gona change that, and the most importain part, I understand that like they taught me I must teach other people when I can. Pass it along.
On my home machine if I need to be root I'll su and when i'm done logout of root. The reason is that it is an extra layer of security, an extra passwd. If some snoops my normal account passwd while sshing in, hopefully, they won't then have the root passwd and if my normal account has full sudo privliges they might as well have gotten the root passwd.
2. When you talk to your friends, let them know this is going on. Believe it or not, a lot of people don't know about this issue. The more people you tell, the more this becomes an issue.
1. Sony is part of the RIAA. 2. Sony makes Play Stations. 3. I don't buy Play Stations. (or any Sony product) 4. Everyone wants their Play Station. I think they just think I'm crazy that I boycott the RIAA and don't buy anything from any of the signed on companies, you know, like Sony.

The better question is, What if all the other world leaders wore clothes?

I thought it said Eric Lehnsherr for a second.
And if you read Fark.com, you'd realize that happens way more than it should.
If you're in IT, reading Slashdot at home would count.

While he only really reviews one game a week, he is quite mean to most of the games and hillitary ensures.

When I saw this on fark I asked my doctor, How pronouced are the behaviour changing effects actually?
He said, If you were infected as a uterus, then very bad. If you caught it as a teenager of adult, no major sysmptoms.
Basicly there is a reason doctors aren't actually trying to fix this.
