I know *nothing* about bittorrent, this is the first thing out there that makes me want to try it. So I installed the Windows client (I'm at work), but I keep getting the message: "Error, Problem connecting to tracker - 10060 - operation timed out".... is this common? Anyone knows what this means?
So no mention of _the authors_ being paid, only the rights holders (i.e. the worthless middle-men who'd be eliminated if copyright didn't create a monopoly market).
The author's gave up their rights to their work when they sold it to the copyright holder... this makes perfect sense to me.

much in the same way that any television series based on a movie will suck
other than that, you are 100 percent correct
*cough*stargate*cough*

I'm sure there's a few others.... but your statement is generally sound:-)
That doesn't even make sense. Access and MySQL are not the same product. I can't use MySQL to make forms and reports. On the other hand, you can use Access as a front end to MySQL (I do), which works pretty well.
Oh come on...you obviously haven't heard that many indie bands, or you don't quite understand the meaning of an "indie band". Just because a band isn't signed to a major label does not mean they suck.
Hear Hear! (Or is it here here?). I was about to reply with the same comment. Last week I was down in Austin, Texas on business. It's an incredible city for live music. Anywho, we checked out this record store "Waterloo Records", it was incredible. They had a dozen listening posts with 5-6 albums per post, most of them indie labels. It was very cool getting to listen to such a huge selection of artists that you'd never heard of before.
I bought a few discs as a result and am trying to find a good store here at home (Toronto) that's similar. Anyone have any recommendations? Guys at work have recommended a place called Soundstream or Soundscapes or something like that....
Dual male plug RCA jack from the speaker/headphone output to the microphone input. They can't have completely secure audio path, the sound has to go somewhere.
Geez buddy, RTFA. I hate you trolls. If you had have taken the time to RTFA, you'd know that with this new scheme, decryption takes place via a chip implanted in your brain. The sound is just static unless your brain chip has the proper key. Those mic jacks aren't going to do you any good.
You're not crazy, I live in Toronto, don't know anyone with SARS. I don't even know anyone who knows anyone who has SARS. Everyone at the office howls with laughter when we get an e-mail from overseas asking if we're ok and how the situation is.
Find any great deals, go for them! You've got nothing to worry about.
So the game is 4 years old already. If it is a good game, then it doesn't matter.
Good point. And it *is* a good game. And it really doesn't matter how hold it is. The take on RTS is very original (to me anyways) and very fresh. Not directly controlling units, but only influencing them with money (what else?) is cool, and the hilarious phrases characters say when dying is hilarious and icing on the cake.
This is the first time I've seen someone complain about too many options provided....
Seriously, it's cool that you believe that, and the poster may very well too, but it'd be interesting to see how many people *do* choose the option -- they're the ones you'd have a beef with.
Half the games I own for my gamecube allow for 4 player action... Monkey Ball 1+2, TimeSplitters 2, WaveRace, Smash Brothers. I would imagine most FPS, racing games, and sports games would make use of 4 players on any console if the support was there.
The Konami code (used for extra lives and such in many of their games) is actually: Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, start.
I remember how excited I was to pick up Super Gradius for my Super Nintendo, sat down and tried the code on the title screen, nothing happened. Started the game, paused it, entered the code, and my ship blew up!!! That was the best:-)
Turns out they have you use the "L" and "R" buttons instead of pushing left and right:-)
Good thing its got four buttons then. The other two are on the top endge where your index finger rests.
Now, if only it had 6 buttons, which is how many the SNES controllers really have (A,B,X,Y,L,R), 8 if you include select and start, which many games make active use of too.
I remember hearing about Wolfenstein 3d for months before I finally saw the game. I was SOOOOOO disappointed when there was no 3d glasses, etc. And I was really confused at how the game was being called "3d" when it was clearly 2d -- (flat screen).
The only times you really need a real console are during bootup and emergencies, when two people using the system simultaneously wouldn't be a real asset.
<pointy haired boss> Actually, that would be a real asset. My database server crashed down last week, and it took my admin 8 hours to bring it back up. If we could have two admins working on it simultaneously, that'd only be 4 hours.
Please excuse me now as I have to start dinner. This chicken was supposed to roast for 6 hours, but I'll just turn the heat up to 700 degrees so it'll cook in 3 hours. Damn I'm good. </pointy haired boss>
You haven't been marked at troll yet, so I'll tell you why this is a great ask slashdot post. It boils down to the fact that not everyone knows as much as you, or about what Linux can do for them. It would seem to me that if you could answer this poor guy's question, instead of trying to make yourself sound powerful and mighty, the world just might be a little better place to live. If you don't think what I'm saying is true, then check out the little culture of open Source Developers. And if you don't believe in the Open Source philosophy, then why are you wasting your time with Linux anyway? Why don't you just use some other UNIX? Please stop the high and mighty crap. No body cares that you have more geek'sperince, and the people who might care, can't because your to busy trying to tell them how stupid they are. There was a point in time that you didn't know about serial terminals. There was a point in time where you got introduced to the concept.
Before I whip out my credit card and ask a friend in the U.S. to forward this on to me since hsn doesn't ship to Canada:-(
- How's the battery life? ~4 hours? ~20 hours? How much do you use your s and how often do you have to recharge?
- The OS that comes presinstalled, it's linux based right? Do I get a shell with it? Can I compile and run most linux apps? What's the deal with OpenZaurus?
I did try and get answers from HSN and myzaurus.com (and even openzaurus.com) but these ones weren't answered.

None of those game consoles even come with a keyboard any more, and I don't think you can even get keyboards for the GameCube...

Hehehe... I like how you spam proofed your email in the post even though it's plainly posted beside your userid in the /. message header.

No, FirebirdSQL should forfeight the name
... what is that even an option?
...
Uhm
Microsoft Mozilla.
The Mozilla team should just forfeit the name.
Microsoft SourceForge
SourceForge should just forfeit the name.
Afterall - Microsoft has a bigger user group

From the *one* company that has a controls an entire consumer hardware platform?
Hi there, thanks for coming out of your cave. Let me introduce you to Sony.
And CTRL+Tab / CTRL+SHIFT+Tab to switch a la ALT+Tab (at least in Windows anyways)

I don't know what that is.... and I don't think I want to know....
Am I the only one getting sick and tired of all these so-called "Reality TV" shows?
I'd never trust my computers on a Tolkien Ring... too many systems turning evil, talking about the precious.... blech.
Hehe, newsgroups have really fallen apart I think. Oh well, no one else got the joke, I got modded redundant. :-)
