If you've got something to say, don't say it as AC. You come across as another corporate mouthpiece with your lack of willing to stand visible with your opinions.
This might have been fine in University so I could get better grades, but the only reason for better grades is getting a better paid job where I work LESS.
Much the same thing for me. A little while back I was looking up poker timers and found that the ones with any decent sort of functionality were horribly expensive. This kinda annoyed me (this aint rocket science and the hardware is pretty cheap) - so I'm writing one for the Nintendo DS at the moment (it's the only handheld I have).
It'll probably cost me more (in time) in the long run. But at least I'll be able to make it available to people as another option. Will probably write one for mobile phones at some point too.
There's a very simple reason you don't see so many body shots in Rugby... most of the players actually have some athletic ability and (from range at least) it's amazingly easy to avoid a full on hit. Besides that, in Rugby you can get back up after hitting the floor, so you'd have to make sure you hit someone hard enough to take them out completely.
Yes, I have played both at a semi pro level. Well, that is if you can call American Football in the UK anything but amatuer.:)
Wouldn't this seriously confuse all of the Mac zealots that came out recently to support the "Apple are too good for gaming" article? Perhaps the groupthink would take over, it never happened, doubleplusungood.
Yes, it's been a long time since I've had a manager. But isn't what you said kinda self-fulfilling? Surely if that's the case then IIS would have lost the battle a long time ago due to the overwhelming percentage lead shown by Apache over the years.
X or Y were companies btw, but as employees; if you don't like the tech to such an extent - you move on (Yes, it's just that easy). Ignoring that, a company would be pretty stupid to force IIS / Apache on a workforce that isn't experienced with it, but yes... companies can be pretty stupid.
What might be more interesting is if this update stops the hack being possible in the first place. I doubt that too, but if I was MS, that's what I'd focus on first.
Reviews from people that actually understand the tech and know how to test it. Beware though, you wont get simple answers like "This one is best, buy it".
Good response, and I do see your point. I should however clarify that the numbers were for Mattel as a whole which as I'm sure you'll know is far more than Barbie. http://www.mattel.com/our_toys/default.asp?f=false &s= obviously things like Fisher Price, Matchbox and the disney things don't harm their sales.:)
I'm not entirely sure if you could pull the exact profit numbers out of these monstrous companies.
I liked the barbie comparison, but it wasn't a good one. The profit made by the entire of Mattel wouldn't even come close to the profit made by the games industry as a whole. Compare:
That's with EA having a bad year, and they're just a (admittedly quite big) part of the industry. Had you said toys like dolls vs gaming, you may have had a point. But barbie vs gaming? She gets her ass spanked.
Thank you. I work in the industry too and to be honest the last few months I've been sitting here wondering what the hell Web 2.0 was supposed to be. I think I'll just stick to what makes my customers money for now and leave the hype to the marketing drones.
Thanks for the post, I was hoping I wouldn't have to be the one to show the links between acceptance of sex and LOWER: teen pregnancies, abortions, failed marriages, sexual assault etc (Yes, the data is out there for those too).
Does it somehow affect your life that someone else can have fun with something you don't enjoy? I can't say I'd like to live in your world - We'd all be driving the same cars, living in identical houses, dating identical looking people, playing the same games console or speccing our PCs with identical processors and graphics cards... don't forget one OS to rule them all.
Move along, oh, and if you believe in what you're saying, don't post AC.
My guess is that we'll see MS issue an update over xbox live soon that stops this particular hack method working and no doubt they'll put the same update into the machines rolling off the production line. Oh, and don't forget that they can put updates into the games too...
Of course, I might be wrong, but I really can't see them being too worried. If they decide to go this way then the likelyhood is (until new methods are found) that the only people this will work for are the owners with older versions of the console that weren't connected to xbox live or used to play new games.
It's anecdotal, but I along with 6 of my friends and 2 relatives fall into that category. We were pretty much all waiting for two things:
1: Will MS announce a price reduction (No, no real need to yet). 2: What's the PS3 going to retail at, and when. (Lots, November, limited stock).
In that group of 8, there are now 5 new xboxes. Three more coming when payday hits at the end of the month. Some of us will be picking up a Nintendo on release (4) and one of us picking up a PS3 on release (Well, maybe more but it will be to resell). Everyone else has said they wont get one until they hit $350 max for the premium model (Guessing 2008).
Ok, that's only 8 customers... but we can't be the only ones thinking that way.
...just to be clear, will this still be backwards compatible with the old version of the web?
Damn you, beaten to it!
"Tiger handheld sir? You'll be accompanying us to the station..."

I work too long and too hard already.

You do realise that this is a joke actually perpetuated by geeks? A little self deprecation tends to be fairly harmless.
Maybe it's because I'm a brit though.
It's ok, we'll export some to you on the black market. Can't beat a nice cup of tea...

They might have missed their FA Cup for the last few years...

Damn lack of mod points!
More importantly is why does it matter anyway? X uses what they like, Y uses what they like. Story over.

It was a BT advert, and it was, as you described; terrible. Full of absolutely meaningless buzzwords and general innacuracies.

I have one, but I have him locked in my dungeon now. He's never getting away. =D
...and a mysterious new virus has been changing the IP routing table in Windows from yahoo.com....
