of course they didnt provide any data to link marijuana and terrorism. they did the research and found out that marijuana sales support local farmers! no way in hell do they want that out;)
bzzzztt! wrong. software does fail (crashing is one example of a software failure). software engineering uses MBTF and/or MTTF (Mean Time To Failure). google it. its a standard software engineering practice. here is a decent link explaining MBTF for software.
Please consider the fact that Blizzard is suing people who write software to interoperate with theirs when deciding whether you want to purchase this game
so? honestly, why is it *that* bad. beter yet why is it even important. i dont have years worth of data saved that i will need to be able to access at a later point in time, possibly using another application by another vendor. its a game. i probably wont even be able to play it on new hardware in 10 years. battle.net is a service that they offer, in order to use the service you need a legitimate cd-key. big deal. i can still rip a copy of warcraft, blizzard doesnt do any of that cd copy protection crap that some groups are known for. when i buy a blizzard game i know that i *OWN* the cd. why is it this way? because blizzard has a great validation system in place called battle.net, let it be. now if they start charging for the service then i might start singing a different tune. but as it stands now im more then happy to *BUY* the game and follow the trivial rules that blizzard has set.
p.s. when will I be able to filter out the "editors" comments?
uh me.. why ruin a perfectly good machine that way. i think a better question is - why the hell would anyone dual boot when hardware (especially hardware that will run *nix/bsd) is so so so dirt cheap?
there is a BIG difference between an education and a trade. MSCEs learn a trade (trades can pay very well). a college degree implies an education which is far more broad then a trade. How many MSCEs do you know that can do differential calculus and understand the concepts behind it? most Comp Sci graduates can and do. that is the difference.

When i first read this i thought +5 Funny.. then i realized you were serious. Ever notice how kids that were heavily shielded while they were supposed to be growing up generaly _go wild_ when they get the first smell of freedom (college comes to mind). Children should not be shielded from the real world. A parents purpose is to help the child grow up so that they can deal with "all that grown up stuff". if they are not aware of "grown up stuff" they will never grow up. And tell me, wouldnt you rather be the one answering your childs real tough questions before their peer group gets a chance to?
im mad at the right(religious right) because they "believe, rightly or wrongly" and then force those beliefs on others. the key word is belief, which varies from person to person. stem cell research is just one of many examples.
ive been beta testing as well. W3 is a good game but its just not the next best thing. i play diablo ii more then W3 now, you just get tired of it. and as a side note, in the 3rd person view you can see further. if you use it well you can effectivly see through the fog of war. its more like real vision. trees, hills, stuff like that blocks vision instead of a blanket fog.

you can get most MS software for free if you are a comp sci student, they do give it away. its called the studentdev program (use google). i have a ton of MS cds that got thrown at me through the course of my education they are all legit and i didnt pay 1 cent.
you must know how many pages users view. why not put that number in the _Your Info_ section on the _User Info_ page so that people can make informed decisions.
ya, i have the beta of war 3 as well. your numbers a way off from what i have seen (cant help but wonder if/when you are logged on?), right now there are 260 users and 63 games (just checked), that is about what i usually see. it is _not_ hard to find a 4v4 or 3v3 game they are all over the place, so i dont really see that as being the problem. there is really no reason for a valid beta tester to leave the realm (the realm is one of things that your supposed to test and comment on by the way!!). i have to say i side with blizzard on this one, regardless of the chances of winning. they are protecting their games (and lets be honest, battle.net is around 90% of the reason to buy a blizzard game).
i dont know any details but i think it is safe to assume that the device circumvents some copy protection when you copy it. where as making a straight copy of a cd/dvd does not.

there is at least one french court that thinks MS is at fault. RTFA

huh? slashdot has articles? people read them? and of course hell is currently freezing over.
chop that number in half. most of the movies i have run accross are ~300MB (unless its lord of the rings or somthing, but even that will fit on a cd)
