I own both PS2 and Gamecube consoles. They are not modded. I have about the same number of games for both systems.

However I will note I have bought more Gamecube games at high release price, and most of my PS2 games I bought used or at the reduced best seller price.

Eternal Darkness, a Lovecraf inspired game.
Pikmin, a sci-fi plant based RTS
Ikurga, an evil shooter (yes, ported from the dead dreamcast).
Super Monkey Ball (came first on the Gamecube) an action puzzler.
Animal Crossing, a slice of life adventure sim type game.
Viewtiful Joe, a side scroling beat em up (released first on the Gamecube).
Baten Kaitos, an RPG with card based inventory/battle system.

Thats not an exhaustive list, only what pops into my head. I think they are kick ass as well as a number of the titles with known franchise characters.

Does anyone take linux on the PS2 seriously? It was only available for a limited time and the stuff you code with it cant be used excapt on your PS2 linux setup. Why is it even worth mentioning? compared to a Moded to do anything Xbox?

The only time I need to pay them is for a major upgrade to the next version.

I have just started playing "Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords" and the things you list above are exactly the kinds of things the supposed teacher of the main character (Kreia) seems to consider the only truth.

I dislike her and her constant harping on how bad it is for people and governments or the universe to help out and try to do anything positive.
I now know who to associate with that set of ideas and a little more about why I dislike them.

There is some minor point/truth. Some people will exist to only take advantage of the generosity/help of others when they do not need it and are not helped, but when you as a person are placed in a situation, not being telepathic, you can only hope they will use that help and are truly in need of that help. The other way to go is to never help anyone ever and thats not right for me.

Yes, Sci-Fi is showing Firefly, I have not seen how they are presenting it, but have heard nasty rumors they hacked up the Pilot because it was "boring" to some executive. I haven't watched the Sci-Fi broadcast because I bought the DVD set.

Sorry if I came out a bit hard against your statement, but I remember the flame wars back when the idea was first floated.

Outlaw Star and Firefly really do only have the nude girl in the box in common directly. Outside of that all the other elements they have in common, like being on the run in a spaceship, are also found in many other Sci-Fi films, shows, anime and manga.

There was magic of sorts in Outlaw Star. The Caster Gun and it's shells the hero had, as well as the Space Yogis (I think they were Space Pirates, but never can remember) having magical powers (they used a lot of tech as well).

From my recollections the Ship was supposed to be quite powerful and legendary. Serenity is rather the opposite, though it has a few features more current spacecraft in that 'verse seem to lack.

It's like saying that Average Joe is essentially a live action version of Tenchi Muyo.

Or that Buffy is a essentially a live action Urusei Yatsura.

Scary, there is a Scottish band calling themselves Urusei Yatsura. But they have disbanded and formed a group called Project A-KO.

No it does not, not at all, I like Outlaw Star but where do you get this stuff?

    Outlaw Star: caster gun
Firefly: regular slug throwers and some people might have lasers.

Outlaw Star: Ship hidden in an asteroid near a star, one main character suicides so they can escape from the crazy space priests
Firefly: Nothing even remotely close to the above ever happens.

Outlaw Star: Nude girl in a box. Charater details differ.
Firefly: Nude girl in a box. Character details differ.

Firefly: They set down on a planet to pick up passengers and get rid of some contraband right at the start.
Outlaw Star: Starts out with the main character in a bar and he has no starship.

Outlaw Star: Fighters fly around and punch each other (well "grapple").
Firefly: has 2 unarmed(sic) shuttle craft.

The only aspect at all that is alike between the two shows is a nude girl in a box. Nothing else even remotely "syncs up" as you say.

The cast of characters is entirely different.

Can you back up your claim in any way? All I see is a bunch of lamer anime fans who want desperately to link the two shows. I'm not saying that River being introduced the way she was was not a nod to Outlaw Star, just that contrary to your claims there is no direct sync up or rip off from OS to Firefly.
