SuSE is pretty damn good, but Mandrake has always been damn near as problematic as Windows. For my main workstation, I always use Redhat, simply because it is the most compliant of distributions. It doesn't always have the features that SuSE does, but in the end, Redhat gets the job done for me.
It is good to see that Sony is opening up a little. This, in addition to the PS2 Linux kit (waiting to get mine any day now) shows that the future of computing may be much more open that it is now, because when Sony teams up with IBM (and Toshiba, I suppose I should mention)to form the Cell platform, I think Intel and Microsoft would be hard-pressed to stop these three companies.
I'd like to see a program written for the Gamecube and/or PC(this includes macs, etc.) that allows you to connect your gameboy advance (for the gamecube there is already the GCN-GBA link) and play with other GBA players over the internet (when the NIC for the Gamebue is available) as if GBA's were directly linked.
Right now, I'm mainly thinking about playing Golden Sun against other people.
While pirating may be an application of BnetD, it is far from it's actual purpose - to be used on mostly private networks and among groups of friends who want to play their own games and control their own server. I doubt bnetd could ever anticipate to put a dent in Blizzard's profits through this side-affect.
Even so, there are better solutions than to completely shut down bnetd, such as making it illegal to publicly advertise an alternative bnetd server to the masses, which is different than playing with only a few people on a private server.
And what the fuck are you talking about? In what ways am I stupid. If Bnetd was closed source, we both know that it probably wouldn't have been attacked.
What choice; you didn't give me any. I don't particularly like hippies or fags, sorry. Are you saying that IBM, HP, etc. are composed mostly of hippies and fags?
Yes, I believe there is more hope for me than there ever was for you; but don't let that get you down - even republicans believe that everyone has a place in this world.
I'm in high school and my dad owns a manufacturing company - so I can't get a job yet (though I'll probably be going to Rose-Hulman next year), though, being a conservative republican, I'm sure I'll find a good one at some point.
Because Open Source isn't a company, it is simply knowledge. Also, if Bnetd was closed source, Blizzard wouldn't complain, because the information would be hidden and could do them no harm.
Ethically, I believe that software developed under an open source license has the right not to be attacked by corporations because it exposes how their closed source software works.
Why is this a troll? I advocate both Linux and BeOS (now OpenBeOS I should say). All of his points are valid, though perhaps more specifically, he should have said: "charging for a desktop OS for the x86 architecture is never going to work again for anybody other than microsoft..."
That is re-damn-diculuos. I love KDE, and even konqueror - but sometimes I also like to use Mozilla. I also like Kinkatta, btw, when will it automatically receive your buddy list from OSCAR like GAIM and Everybuddy? This is fairly useful, but thanks for the great client - been using it since the 0.3x or 0.4x days.
I say we should start a petition demanding that Kinkatta be included in KDE and apps that don't use KDElibs or QT (though I love the library too - thinking about getting the boxed edition) be tollerated.
Become a monk, or take justice into your own hands - whichever comes first;). Also, I suspect that, overnight, a new 3D API would spring up in OpenGL's place, probably borrowing many features from both DirectX and OpenGL. This is due to choice of architecture in a platform as much as it is the OS. Lets face it IA-64 ain't all that and a bag of potatoe chips, neither will it be in 3-4 years. It's also outrageously expensive. Thats the price you pay for bad compatability in the world of Wintel, folks.
but for personal music jukeboxes of all shapes and sizes, I wish people would use FLAC or some other lossless audio codec. As broadband and microstorage become more common maybe these will become more used.
Someone should port a TI-89 emulator to the Strong-ARM 206MHz based PDAs, like the new Zaurus. Hardest thing would be to make a good GUI because the regular keypad on the TI-89 would take up too much room.
I knew about the LCD display, but not the 3Hr battery! Now I can take my GameCube anywhere - see if something like this for the damned XBox ever comes out!
Actually, I was too. ;)

Thanks for the advice dipshit.

ass ... knot .... giant scorpion .... hrmmm
These would make nice pets.

Will the human genome project be upgrading to this?
I like it when people use linux on non-x86 architectures.
Actually, you will now be able to hexedit your saved game files.
If they really wanted to have the same platform across multiple machines, with just a little extra work they could port RedHat to PowerPC.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Rose Hulman (RHIT) has a fast track Calculus course in the summer that covers Cal I,II, and III in 5 weeks.

Uhmmmm, it is ___Aeris___ not Aerith.

Sheesh ... this was obviously a sarcastic joke.
