  1. How can this even be legal? on MPAA training Dogs to Sniff Out DVDs · · Score: 4, Insightful

How can this even be legal? What bone head brainless piece of shit at FedEx allowed the MPAA to do this? If I ship a DVD to some one I expect it to only be opened by one person, the recipient. This would be like the RIAA going to the post office and opening everyones mail looking for lyrics. Un fucking believable! Well, the MPAA has pushed me into buying even FEWER DVDs this year.

  2. Out in the boonies on Verizon Ruling May Tax Dial-Up Customers · · Score: 1

Out where I live, your only choice is dial up, satellite or service through your cell phone. I only have a cell phone and no land line service. Verizon will take for ever to get DSL in my area; and the cable provider is some Mom and Pop outfit I never heard of that doesn't offer Internet service, so I don't subscribe anyway because I don't have a TV.

I currently use Verizons 'National Access' Internet service with my LG VX4500, it provides 16 k/bits synchronous service that puts it about 3 times the speed of dial up. While not 'fast' it's certainly is better than dial up. I have looked into satellite, but I'm not willing to shell out $600 for the hardware; followed by a $139 a month contract for 1 M/bit service with a 275ms or worse latency.

If Verizon would get off their dead asses and either deliver xDSL or EVDO service into my area I would snarf up either of these services. The other company expanding near my area (Clearwire) is planing on offering it's service located 24 miles west of me. But I doubt I'll see this service anytime soon.

However, I will still use pine and command line e-mail for all my stuff I don't want prying eyes to look at.

  15. Re:Give me a break!!! on Stealth Sharks to Patrol the High Seas · · Score: 2, Insightful

I guess it's just beyond most human beings intellectual capacity to just get a fucking clue. This ranks right up there with the rest of the dumb fucking things our military does with innocent animals.
It's not *just* that people are dumb. They are. But they also don't *want* to know what they do to animals (or causes others to do to animals on their behalf).
For example, offer to show someone a short video of what goes on in an abattoir. Almost guaranteed they will refuse. Tell them you don't think eating meat is wrong -- you just want them to see what goes on for them to be able to eat that McBurger. See if they'd be willing (not even "curious", just *willing*) to see how the fowl are slaughtered. They won't do it -- they will almost always prefer ignorance, and they'll probably also get mad at you for "trying to ruin their day".

I agree, 100%. You know, I used to eat animals, I was the kind of guy who would smack his fist down on the table and say "I got to have my slab of dead cow!" But, all that changed forever when I watched an undercover video showing some of the most deplorable acts violence committed against an innocent sow on a pig farm in North Carolina. These guys were yelling and screaming expletives at her, beating her with pipe wrenches and gate rods, sexually molesting her with a steel rod. And then to add insult to injury, smashed her over the head with a cinder block, it was then they started to skin and dismember her while she was still alive. It was the most disgusting thing I ever saw, it was extremely painful to watch. Chickens are treated even worse, and cows fair no better than pigs. And as for China, dogs are routinely strung up by their hind legs and beaten to death, cats are callously tossed into vats of scalding hot water while fully conscious.

So I make no excuse for my disdain towards my fellow human beings let alone what our own fucking government does to animals.

It's beyond bad enough the industrial farming institutions have most people brain washed to believe that eating animals and animal products is "good" for you. When I kick the bucket, I sincerely hope I'm not judged by what the rest of the human race does to animals.

Now our administration has modified part 15 (to the point of uselessness), ignored ITU agreements and is ignoring valid interference complaints from BPL deployments. BPL is the king of a cardboard, duct tape and bailing wire Internet delivery method that should of NEVER gotten off the ground. A person with ANY reasonable engineering skills would not even consider this abortion. When the commission was presented with evidence from the NTIA about the interference problems BPL would create they were met with, "So what, don't confuse us with all this technical mumbo jumbo, find a way to accommodate it, our minds are already made up".
