Rejoice hackers! How much will the average Joe, er, Johan in Europe pay to have the back door device hacked? I'm sure it would be easy to make it show that the car is not traveling northeast of London, but, southwest of Paris in a cow pasture. Also, rig the engine shutoff feature to enable an electronics bypass so the engine will still operate. Better yet, rig the shut off to enable the car's super charger and alert the driver that he/she is being followed.
Why in hell would you take your laptop into a theater to watch a movie? If I were AMC, not only would I want to see what was in the backpack (gun, bomb, whatever), but, when I saw the laptop I would refund your ticket and tell you to get the hell out! What kind of idiots are we raising in this country these days?!!!
She can whine all she wants. She can even pee her panties for all I care. She was doing 80 in a 65 mph zone. There is no excuse for that. If the judge decides to add $200 to $300 to her fine for wearing Google Glass, great! If they can prove that she was using it at the time they should add $600 to $1000 to her fine. Todays high speed traffic is no place for texting, talking on a cellphone or even playing with Google Glass while driving. If she had caused an accident in which someone was seriously injured or killed, could she talk her way out of manslaughter charges?
Luckily, I'm not in the tech industry. I am neither a programmer or in IT. I'm just a highly educated professional who must use computers in the course of daily activities. It seems the problem is that tech companies are abusing H1B visas to import cheap labor to this country instead of hiring the many talented persons that we already have. It boils down to greed! That is the way the rich elite have been keeping the middle class down for centuries. In the late 1800's into the 1900's a solution was found which leveled the playing field. In the 1980's the Republican president Reagan started the war on this solution. The solution is called; Unionization. What would happen if a tech company imported a programmer from India, but, had to pay him/her union scale? I think it would not be in their best interests unless he/she were so talented that he/she could replace 2 or 3 American employees. I doubt it would be easy to find such a talented person. Thus, you highly educated techies had better read the tea leaves and start unionizing or you could soon find yourselves just another poor person on food stamps and welfare! The war on the unions was started for only one reason; GREED! Since there is no current way to cure the greed inherent in the wealthy businessmen, either corporate or private companies, the only way the average man can fight back is through collective bargaining. Sure, it may be rocky at the start, but, in the end it can bring balance between the haves and have not.
This means that the next time I visit my doctor and he mentions my weight, I can say; "Doc, it's that gawd-danged dark matter, it hangs around me like a cloud"!!!
I hope these guys get a good grade proving something which should be a no-brainer for an 8 year old. I also hope that no tax money was used in these efforts!!!
As a disclaimer, I will admit that I have been a fan of Isaac Asimov since my teen years in the late 60s. People here are complaining how far off he was on some predictions, but, a lot of them were very close to the mark. It is very hard to make predictions even one year in advance, much less, 50 years. I think we should give this guy with the big fuzzy side burns a pass on some of his less than accurate predictions and celebrate those which were nearly right on the mark. In those days world population was very much on every persons mind. I believe that he thought that the worlds' governments (i.e. China, etc.) would have to set in place population controls to prevent starvation. He did not count on the fact that advanced countries with high levels of education would cut their populations more or less naturally due to the fact that large families were no longer needed. But, look where populations are still growing unchecked. It's in third world countries with very low literacy rates or those countries which are still so religious in nature that birth control is out of the question. In future years those are the countries where famines will start to "cull" the human race. With all our science in agriculture knowledge, even we will not be able to feed everyone. I feel sorry for those who are under age 30 or so today, for they are the ones who will witness this carnage first hand. It's not too late though, education of third world masses, especially women, could still slow the birthrate. Barring an extinction event such as a huge asteroid strike or mega volcano eruption like Yellowstone or Indonesia, the real next killer will probably be a pandemic that is worsened by overpopulation and mal-nourishment. I doubt I will be around to see this, but, it could happen at any time. Oh my!, now I'm making predictions. I guess the genius of Mr. Asimov must have had a profound effect on me! That my friends is the power of writing genius. I miss you Isaac!
I'm stunned there are so many people against Americans being able to buy affordable health insurance. I guess it must be all the Koch brothers groupies and the Fox Noise channel responsible for all the anti-affordable health care act propaganda!
