Actually, large RC planes could easily carry something on the order of a claymore mine. Fly one, two, three, or ?, over a large crowd attending a rock concert, political rally, etc., and detonate the mines about 50 feet above said crowd, and, you have mass casualties with many dead and wounded. You may scoff at the efforts of law enforcement officers to detect such plots, but, what if the scumbag ragheads pulled it off. You wouldn't be laughing then! You'd be demanding why didn't said law enforcement officers detect this horrible plot!!!!

  6. Hey! It's all IT BS!!! on Edward Snowden Leaves Hong Kong · · Score: 1

I've read all the posts on this subject on Slashdot. IMO, if this idiot had stopped at releasing the fact that the NSA is stockpiling phone calls and emails of U.S. citizens, I would probably be understanding of his take on this matter. But, get real! I've known since 2005 that the government has been intercepting these things at will. What's the news in what this guy pushing? Unfortunately, he didn't stop at just exposing an already known fact of government snooping, no!, he went on to release to the Chinese and now probably the Russians, how we are getting intel from them. This, I believe, is where he crossed the line and became a TRAITOR! I could have forgiven his indiscretion of revealing the NSA intelligence as the "frothing at the mouth" rantings of a starry-eyed believer in the idea that the U.S. is pure as the driven snow. However, when he passed the other info to the Sino's and the Russians, he crossed my line of tolerance. I now consider him a traitor to the U.S. and believe anything "bad" that happens to him is justified. What really pisses me off are all these IT people who believe that since he was one of them, he must be pardoned for his transgressions. In my profession as a Pharmacist here in the U.S. you will find very little tolerance of those Pharmacists who succumb to the allure of abusing drugs. I would hope that in the future the IT professionals would show no tolerance to those who violate non-disclosure agreements which they have agreed to and signed. I know that in the professional world that Pharmacists and Doctors have to take an oath which covers non-disclosure of information. Maybe, it's time that IT professionals adopt a similar view. As an example, how would you IT guys like it if your Doctor or Pharmacist decided that it was in the public's interest to know that you were on testosterone therapy or being treated for AIDS contracted in your "unusual" sexual practices? Think about it!!!

  12. Re:Why should Mr. Snowden become the sacrificial l on NSA WhistleBlower Outs Himself · · Score: 1, Interesting

I'm an old Marine. I don't do anything on the internet that is illegal or even worth a second look. So, I've got nothing to hide. Everyday, people put their lives up for inspection on the internet. Corporations are monitoring all your data as you live and breathe. But, when the government goes fishing for traffic that may be linked to terrorist activity, everyone goes berserk! Get a life people! Everything you say and do in the internet is subject to interception. Be it corporations, the government, or criminals looking for your critical assets. The sooner you realize that anything you say or do on the internet is, basically, public knowledge, the better off you will be. I know a lot of you are totally pizzed off about this. Because that's what Fux News told you to be, even though, it was Bushies who started this program. I've seen recent news broadcasts showing that this program has stopped some terrorist plots and even led to the capture of one of the ragheads who was out to "wipe out America". So, the next beautiful morning that you leave the house to go to work, the park, or any other activity in safety, ask yourself; "is it PRISIM that has allowed me to move about freely in a free nation"? Finally, to Mr. Snowden, He had privileged knowledge to a very secret government program. He, I'm sure, signed the various non-disclosure papers to ensure that the program remained a secret. However, he decided for some reason that America was doing BAD! Instead of stopping what he was doing, he continued until his job was done. Then, he squealed. By doing so he; 1 violated the non-disclosure agreements he had signed, 2 committed treason, and 3 became the a-hole who could lead to the deaths of many innocent Americans. Like I said at the beginning of this post, I'm an old Marine. If it were up to me, I would just stand him up against a wall and put 20 or 30 rounds through his treasonous brain pan!!!!

The silver lining in this could just be the old Trojan Horse. With all the Chinese hacking in the last decade, I refuse to believe that high tech companies just put their highly secret plans for planes, missiles, etc. out there to be easily plucked from the internet. It would be a good idea, though, to put plans with subtle well hidden flaws in them which would be disastrous to the Chinese if they just built a plane etc. straight from the stolen plans. We did this with the Soviet Union back in the cold war. What makes you believe we are not doing it now and using the hacks to track where they are coming from in China?
