    I agree that CBC has some great programming, but I find many of their radio political commentary to be very biased towards the LEFT(Liberal).

    Wireless routers should come shipped with a big red tag attached to them expressing the importance of securing their wireless network. New hardware sold today should have at least WEP by default and SSID broadcast turned off. I know that this is not perfect, but hey it is better than a wide open wireless network.
    I just setup a wireless home/office network and made sure I secured it as well as I can.
    I got some advice from a techie before I set this network up, but he suggesterd that I should not worry about this type of security because I lived in a single family dwelling. Well needless to say, I DID NOT take his advice.

    I did a comparison of both by searching my hometown(in Canada).
    The MS got 8 hits while Google got 21. The main difference here seems that Google hits were sourced from newspaper web pages and MS hits came mostly from newswire services.

    The latest firware upgrade of the WRT54G dissables the afformentioned hack. You have to downgrade to an older firmware to get the "signal booster" hack to work.

    The Linksys WRT54G runs on Linux. a lot of hacking done on them. some have even boosted its power output by send it command through its ping utility.

    This kind of technology could be caried by the consumer if the a small hand held scanner could scan the UPC on the package and give you the data instead of having to read those small lists of ingredients on the package.

    I agree, the lack of a modem is not a big deal as long as the system has a serial port. An external 56k US Robotics modem can be had for very little and does not need any tools to install.
