    Agreed; a public law should be made available to the public without reservation or hinderance. If they want to charge for a CD version of the laws that's fine, as long as there's a free copy somewhere. Perhaps they could give CDs to the local libraries, problem solved.

    Don't forget the servers that are overloaded, or have poorly written code. An easy can, check out HP's bloated website. Each page has relatively little content compared to the load times. It's all in the backend processing, which must be massive seeing as how it takes 1/2 to several seconds for the server to process requests for even simple pages.

    As the OP said, they're solving the wrong problem. It's not a transport issue, it's design issues. And many websites are rife with horrible design.

    The problem is that Verizon's Red Map is thier 2.5G (CDMA) network, not their 3G (EVDO) network.
    The Blue Map is AT&T's actual 3G (W-CDMA) map.

    Exactly.

    Competing theories stated the difference would be more than 3.1 seconds (The possible variance given a 2.2 seconds event and 0.9 seconds difference). Therefore they are invalid.

    Einstein stated the total variance would be equal or less than the total duration of the event. Total duration was 2.2, difference was 0.9, this fits. Einstein's theory is not proven invalid.

    Any other conculsions are logical falacies.

    Heck yeah! And it would be a lot easier to explore than the that red planet we've been mucking around on. Not to mention the moon would make a really nice launching pad for further solar system exploration.

    (1) Some internet sites have figured out how to control torrent files, if you could do the same you could dramatically decrease your monthly bandwidth charges. For instance, the torrent file is only good for the IP it was issued for (users just login and grab a new torrent if their IP changes) (set-top boxes could easily be programmed to work with this sort of system.
    (2) Apple is DRM free now and they're /b>. You could easily become the iTunes of the TV Show world.
    (3) I humbly suggest AAC or Vorbis audio; H264, Theora, or Dirac video; Matroska or Ogg container. (Again, set-top box programmers will love you, and every PC/Mac/etc will play it too. Make it easy for people to do business with you and they will.)

    Most people on umemployment still make interest income (though it might be $0.20/yr) from their bank account too.

    Umemployment is supposed to suppliment you're income between jobs. The law is poorly written; it should be the case that her "income" was simply subtracted from her unemployment amount each month.

    Why is everyone so hooked on downloading an ISO? The DVD itself contains a setup program and a WIM (Windows Image File), just download those two parts and your computer would have everything needed to do the upgrade. No burning CDs, no physical media needed at all. And it would be much simpler for Joe Public to do.

    Running your business like it's 30 years ago is not a Legacy Issue. It's just plain stupidity, you'll find it in plenty of businesses, and the business doesn't have to be 30 years old to have someone at the helm who wants to run it that way.

    A legacy issue is having to support customers (or vendors) who insist doing things the same way they did 30 years ago. The reason this news paper failed was they they were the "Legacy Issue" to their customers; hence they were replaced.

    Men navigate by distances, direction (vector deltas), speed, time, and other such navagational methods.
    Women tend to navigate by landmarks and familiarity.

    Just ask a guy and a girl (separately) to give directions to some place. The guy will usually give directions by road name (or number), distance, and left or right turns. The girl will usually identify the roads by what's on them or where they go, places to turn by a landmark, and the direction to turn by what's on that side of the road (or the opposite side).

    It's more than just the transaction fee. My uncle owns a bar and we were just talking about this two days ago. His bank charges him 1.7% per transaction. Then they charge him a monthly account fee, a statement fee, deposit fee, and the list goes on. Most of these fees are totally unavoidable. By the time it's all added up it's about 4.5% of the CC revenues. That's only if it's Visa or Mastercard; Discover and American Express are slightly worse.

    Yeah, the whole "Couples that don't argue, won't last" should be "Couples that want to argue but hold it in, won't last". Some poeple just get along all the time, it's rare, but it happens.

    Which gets back exactly to: Communicate!
    If you really want to say something then say it, never never never hold it in. You'll regret the lack of communication later.

    You don't prefer "Windows", you prefer the system you know. And there's nothing wrong with that! But for people who know neither one system or the other, *nix systems are easier to have someone else tell you how to fix it.

    I know many times I have to talk other people through a problem over the phone, if there's a CLI way to get the info, I go for it. Even on Windows, it's a million times easier to say "Start -> Run -> cmd [Enter]" Then type this exactly "... ..."; and here comes the info I need.

    The thing is, alomost every problem can be fixed in the CLI in *nix; Windows usually requires the GUI for even the simplest things. Not to mention in Vista/7 the GUI has 5+ more clicks than the same task in 2000/XP.
