It always bother me that national origin is in there, but never nationality. Subtle you may say, but to me, it is not. Especially when you are well qualified but the company job posting clearly says Only US Citizen and Green Card holders entertained
From the same website: Employers who impose citizenship requirements or give preferences to U.S. citizens in hiring or employment opportunities also may violate IRCA.
Anybody know of any an example where this is the case and the company got into trouble?
hahaha, thanks for the correction.. it was early morning, didn't bother to read what I typed.
I am an recent graduate, and was working for a big company for about half a year before the infamous 'restructuring' came and axed our division. Thus far the major problem for me (or people like me) is the requirement of visa sponsorship to work in this country. I am not blaiming anybody or saying this is unfair, it's just a tough economic condition for foreigners.
This is still a great country with ample opportunies for many who are willing to work hard. I have not given up just yet.
Now I would be happy to be able to pay my rent on a monthly basis in this economy. Many of us are out of job and actively looking for one, something like "Custome Business Book" review might help a little more.
It'll be nice to run a/. polls on how many of us are really in the position to even buy a small apartment, let alone to be able to shelf out $300,000 for a custome home.. you.. you insensitive nerd!
Until these things are less than $35, I will just pay the annual fee for the local recreation club and play the real ping pong game. Trust me, I get feed back, sometimes right on my nose. Damn them Indians are good with pongs.:/
I totally agree with your point. Also, there are many artists that get famous and rich (alot of others get screwed though), but how often do you hear Joe the programmer who led the production of Quake 3 just made $5 million bucks?
The only thing I liked about IE over Mozilla is the ability to hit the Esc button and disabled the animation for animated GIF. I so wish Mozilla has that feature, maybe it does, can somebody point me to the right direction?
I still use Mozilla for the tabbed browsing though, not to mention IE doesn't run on my daily OS.:)
ESPN was running a show about video games and sports.
They showed Peyton Manning and Matt Hasselbeck playing Madden 2002 online with VoIP using XBOX. Manning is of course at Indina, while Hasselbeck is at Washington. I must say it was pretty impressive.
Actually Slackware is very BSD-like, as opposed to Sys V.
Check out slackware.com, I am still using slackware, it's a little bit 'primitive' in terms of getting updates and such, but on the other hand, the internals are very simple and visible even to a novice, just my view.:)
Microsoft®.NET Passport no longer supports the Web browser version you are using. Please upgrade to a current Web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later, or Netscape Navigator version 4.08 or later.
Netscape navigator 4.08 or later is supported, but not my Mozilla 0.99? a step backward? or basically just not going to be friendly towards open source?
right on the point! funny thing is even slashdot readers don't mind losing their privacy to NY Times? or are we giving out false information for all those online registrations?
I would really like to see the statistical data of earth quakes, What are the possibilities of that happening just by chance, as compared to stranglets or any other 'unconfirmed' theories.
Sometimes human has the tendencies to take coincidence and correlations as evidence, not that I am saying this is the case.
If LCD price continues to drop, this would be really a serious contender. I can't envision hooking up 3 CRTs, but using 3 17" LCDs side by side would definately kick some serious asses.
Just hoping they will have drivers for my favorite OS though.;)
I guess we have weather data for the past 100 years or so now. It make sense to use data from the last 100-50 years as initial condition, and then simulate the next 100 years.
When you do that, you can 'double check' the accuracy of the model by comparing the predicted data and the actual data from the last 50 years. That way you know if the forecast is accurate, up to a certain extend anyway.
It sure stacks up pretty nice, I am just wondering if there is any heat dissapation issues when you have so much processing in so little space... lucky it's not running AMD.
I wonder how much Apple is "contributing" towards him.
Why does this even matters? He gotta support his life anyhow, it's a nice thing when one can support open source and make a living out of it at the same time.

Think about it.

Ops, I was wrong, thank you for the information.
I have the habit of watching TV and reading slashdot at the same time.. and my brain doesn't have preemptive multistasking built in.. darn.
in the form of /. polls
How much are you willing to pay for a sub-orbital flight?
o Up to $10,000
o Up to $50,000
o Up to $100,000
o Pay? I didn't even pay for my OS!

Yah, you are right, I still use online payments, just not the automatic type.
I never use any auto-monthly pay option for any services, be it electric bill, ISP bill, cable bill, phone bill, etc.
It might be convinient, but I rather write the check every month than to deal with these kind of BS that might follow.

this sucks.
my porn distributor is going to sue the FBI for p2p-ing my collection through my monitor via DMCA. haha, got you!
a news for nerds? or a slow news day? or maybe another evidence for the stranglets? hee-hee

Just my 2 cents.
