Actually at the bottom of every article are downloads for a LOT of other platforms. Read the tutorial on the web, then look at the code for your platform, should be plenty of comments.

  12. English Dubs on Katsuhiro Otomo's Steamboy in Theaters · · Score: 4, Insightful

I'll tell you why noone wants to watch English dubbed anime -- because it is crap.

Surely I'm not the only person who has noticed how dull and lifeless the voice actors usually are in English dubs. It seems they try to time their words to fit the mouth movements of the characters, making the speech sound very unnatural. They also have no emotion.
It could be that the English actors dont care, maybe it is "just a cartoon" to them.

I watch a lot of anime. Always in Japanese with English subs. Which brings me to the next point - why do foreign movies have to be dubbed? Few things annoy me more than people who will not watch a movie simply because they "have to read" it.

Hopefully this turns out to be better than Metacritic. Once google expands to other media such as books and games, metacritic will be in trouble.

I felt compelled to follow that link to amazon, due to the mention of Claudia Black... What follows is a quote from this It Will Never Happen to Me by Claudia Black...

I remember, as a boy, coming home from school and seeing either the living room or the dining room furniture thrown out in the driveway...

Hrmm. I got a bit worried there, but it turns out that:

    1) That quoted bit was not actually by Claudia Black, but a quote from some bloke. ie: Aeryn Sun is not really a man. (phew)
    2) This Claudia Black is not the Farscape Claudia Black, and all this confusion was unfounded.

So it's ok, I can return to the refuge of my fantasies.

  20. Learning From Scratch on Linux From Scratch 6.0 Released · · Score: 4, Interesting

As a distro, LFS probably isn't what most people want. If you want to compile from source, then gentoo is probably the way to go.

On the other hand, I dont think there is a better way than LFS for learning Linux and what all the different packages are for. It is a good way for linux newbs (but probably not computer n00bs) to learn about their new OS. Once that's done, head over to an easier-to-maintain distro such as debian.
